Newman Knights wrap up and more PSU blogging to come!

Heya just kicking off my Phantasy Star Universe blogging with a wrap up of today’s Newman Knights event, part of a series of race appreciation days for the four races of Gurhal.

Along with me and Eggshen, we had the assistance of two Phantasy Star testers, Bobby and Pam, playing Maya and Karen (I won’t tell you who was playing who and ruin your phantasies). While there are not that many special things we can do for in game events, we really appreciate Sonic Team giving us permission to use their story characters, who have never been seen before in the cities and lobbies of PSU.

Although we had some tough luck with hardware and other issues the event ran much smoother then last year’s Beast Bonfire. Considering the issues we have been dealing with since Ambition of the Illuminus launched, and the cheating panic just this week, I was actually pretty happy with how things went down today. To everyone who came it was fun hanging out with you. One of the best parts of the day was chatting with the players over what they would like to see in future online community events. I will take your ideas and share them with our team at SEGA while we brainstorm our next event.

Expect more PSU blogging to come soon, I will be discussing online cheating, scamming and griefing issues because I do take this game seriously and want to help keep this community together through both hard times and good.

The Club and Mystery Dungeon

Heads-up on some recent and upcoming updates to our game sites and pages…

First off, we added a few more characters and a new environment to The Club website late last week.  This game is looking good, and we’ve had some nice feedback about it from some of the gaming press that came in a couple weeks ago to check it out.  Also, Tycho from Penny-Arcade downloaded the demo even before it was available in the U.S. (he created a fictional British name and account), and was really impressed.  I think that says a lot about the game because the P-A guys are always pretty straight with their readers as to what they like and what they don’t:

The game’s not shipping for another several weeks, but you can download the demo on both Xbox 360 and PS3, and we’ll be adding more stuff to the game site as we get closer to launch.  You can get a good look at some videos, character bios and more at the official site: http://www.theclubgame.com.

Also, we’re uploading a new set of screens for Mystery Dungeon: Shiren The Wanderer this afternoon, after already having added new screens late last week.  If you’re a DS owner and you like randomly-generated dungeon games, definitely check out Mystery Dungeon:

It’s the classic story of a boy and his dog pet weasel.

And so it begins…

So I suppose this is my little introduction to the blogging world. Welcome!

This blog will essentially be serving as a hub for myself and my comrades to share a little bit about the goings-on around here at SEGA. As we move forward, we will be posting pretty regularly to share with everyone some of the cool stuff that we get to be involved with. Expect videos, photos, and links to stuff you may not find anywhere else, and also commentary and first-looks from events we’ve attended or other things we find interesting that everyone might enjoy.

In addition, however, this also serves as a place for us to interact with everyone visiting the site and share some of our interests — some gaming-related, some not. So thanks for visiting. Feel free to drop us a comment, question, or whatever. I look forward to the journey ahead!

As we hit our stride, you’ll be able to find things like developer interviews, exclusive videos, screenshots, and more on these pages. Our bloggers will also give you a look at the type of things we’re working on, as well as the occasional glimpse at day-to-day life here at SEGA.
