Ask the Devs – Submit Your Questions for The ConduitI’ve got a unique opportunity coming up for The Conduit and SEGA community. Next week I’m off to Chicago to meet the team at High Voltage Software, tour the studio, and ask questions all about The Conduit for an upcoming SEGA podcast. I’ve got a few questions of my own, but I really want to get questions from everyone in the community who are excited about this upcoming release. We’ll be pulling questions from a variety of sources, including our forum and here on the blog. If you are interested in any part of the Conduit, let me know and I’ll do my best to get it answered. Check back on the blogs next week and I should have some photos of the studio, the team, and their work environment. Looking forward to hearing from everyone! ————————————————– 1/29/09 – Update – I was informed today that our trip has been postponed to 2/24/09. Keep the questions coming and look for studio tour pics later next month. I’m a bit bummed to push the trip back, but maybe it’ll get a bit warmer in Chicago (I can dream!).

1. Will there be an option to add people you’ve just played in a random match to your friend list?
2. Will there be a lobby system for online multiplayer?
3. Will there be a level editor or new maps as dlc?

Is there any chance at all for 4-player splitscreen to be included into the game? Or is it pretty much a done deal that it won’t?

Will there be plenty of options in multi player. Is there a simple level customizer or something like it?

Can we start to see some sort of TV advertisement?
Can we say this will be an Epic wii game for all core gamers?
Can your FPS tools be shared with the rest of the wii developers trying to figure out how to make a great wii tool set. You should market it as HVS Epic tools.
Please make more wii game and remember the core gamers want quality just like the HD counterparts.
OMG~

Thanks for all the good questions! I just found out today that my trip was pushed back to Feb 25th, so there’s plenty of time to submit questions before we speak with the High Voltage team. Keep em coming!

you should mention that local multiplayer is a big draw for wii owners, and that there is a lack of FPS local multiplayer offerings for the wii. other games like COD WaW have decent online multiplayer, but lack local multiplayer.
Ask them that why is local multi not priority?

Is there any chance for splitscreen co-op like mario kart wii in this game ? Please tell them that Wii owners want 4player splitscreen in our wii fps games! and they should add sega characters as hidden characters in thier next game

Let HVS know that wii owners look for two things when deciding to purchase a game
1. offline multiplayer
2.online multiplayer
without those two things some people just want give a game a chance, sad but true

I know most people would be asking the obvious questions like “Will there be Friend Codes?” or “Will there be Wii Speak support?” and whatnot, so I’m gonna try asking different questions.
- With the lack of collector’s edition, is SEGA thinking about releasing a limited collector’s edition of The Conduit? Maybe pre-order gifts including The Conduit T-shirt, artbook, soundtrack CD, etc. That would rock!
- Will there be dual-wielding weapons? For example if I’d like to hold a second pistol or machine gun, all I have to do is stand over the weapon and hold – Button to wield.it. That way I’d have twice the advantage on opponents.
- Based on what we already know about The Conduit’s story, is there a possibility that perhaps one of the alien forms might even be a help to Mr. Ford? I’m thinking more of a mysterious character that comes to aid or hands him a useful weapon/tip at a certain moment then disappears the next – sort of like Shiek from Zelda.
- The Conduit will allow us to map our own controls and save that to a profile. Will we be able to save that profile to our controller’s memory like in Super Smash Bros. Brawl? That way when I bring my controller over to a friend’s party, I can upload and use my own profile.
- Would The Conduit have local split-screen multi-player? If so, would the game still be locked at 60 frames per second? Yes, local multi-player is a priority even if it’s only 30fps at best.
- I’m curious if it is possible for an online 2P co-op campaign. This one I’m afraid since it’s a story based around Mr. Ford, but it’s worth an ask. Local co-op would be great as well.
- Would The Conduit have split-screen online versus? For example if a friend of mine would like to experience online play with me, would the game feature a split-screen for up to 3P locally for online?
- Would The Conduit feature its own friend list? I’d like to see the ability to view a list of players that you can request to add when viewing recent match history.
- With friend list, would there be a way to check to see if friends are online and playing? If the official Conduit website had its own online community, I’d like to see a feature where you can log in and view that list right on the website if you’re away from the Wii.
- Will there be some sort of online score system similar to Quantum of Solace [Wii] or Mario Kart Wii’s?
- Will High Voltage Software be distributing their Quantum3 engine to other developers who might be interested in using it to create other high-quality games?
- If The Conduit becomes a success and HVS get to work on the sequel, what plans would they have for it?
- While HVS was developing the game, SEGA showed interest and offered to publish their game. Namely what other publishers were interested in this FPS title, and what are HVS’ thoughts on today’s publishers? What do they think of SEGA?
- Should we expect any easter eggs in the game?
- Any last words for fans of the game before release?
Thanks for bringing this game to us, Sega. \:D/

Who came up with the idea of a totally customizable HUD? Because that is just absolutely brilliant in every way.
Second Question : Would HVS be interested in localizing Yakuza 3 for SEGA? : D

1. What will the conduit be rated? (T or M)
2. How long will the game be?
3. How many different types of enemies are there going to be?
4. Is there going to be a 2-4 player campaign? ( I know I spelt that wrong)
5. When will it be officially released in Canada/United States?
6. Will there be a local multiplayer?
7. Will there be a demo of the game?
8. Why do I have so many questions? Oh well…..

I am going to ask these question at NYC Comic Con anyhow but…
1) Have other developers licensed the Quantum3 engine for Wii?
2) How many “levels” is this game, or basically, how long you estimate the average player will be able to shoot their way through the campaign?

Oh, well it looks like it has been confirmed that splitscreen multiplayer will not make it into the game.
Please ask the devs what they think of this discussion on GoNintendo once they found out of this news (link below):

Will the final copy of the conduit use a dual layered disc to make the graphics and sound better or will everything just be compressed to a dual layered.
