Anyone want an autographed MadWorld cover?Last Feburary’s New York Comic Con was a busy time for all of us – those on SEGA staff who were manning the booths through the crowds, the community members that came out to see and play the games, and most definitely the team from Platinum Games, who were down to promote MadWorld, do interviews, and sign some MadWorld game covers. That VideoGame Blog is now giving out one of those rare signed covers, and to get a shot at it, one need only comment on this post with their thoughts about the game. In their own words:
I can also answer their question about what exactly a “Happy Onion” is – those would be the onions found in various levels that will instantly restore all your health. Now you know – and knowing, as they say, is half the battle.

I just finished this game yesterday, and I loved every minute of it. Hell, this game was the inspiration for the way I decided to design my portfolio. The art style was so unique that that alone sold me on it.
This game kept me entertained the whole way through, from the finishing moves to the commentary to the epic boss battles. Even though it was a short game by today standards, it still managed to have a pretty interesting story. There are games 3 times as long with no story at all. Definitely one of my top 10 Wii games.
I pray that they decide to make a part 2 down the line. If we can get No More Heroes 2 then I can hold out hope for a MadWorld2, lol.

Madworld?! On the WII?! Put the kids to bed, this is DADDY’S GAME! The only things that would have made this game any better would have been the opportunity to drag LINK from LEGEND of ZELDA behind a motorcycle and deep fry MARIO!! I bought a WII specifically for this game alone! I have convinced at least 3 other soldiers in my unit to purchase this game as a theraputic tool for PTSD!! Oh, JACK… Prince of Violence, you have been making my 360 really jealous. I’m running out of excuses to tell my Call of Duty buddies when they ask me if I’ll be online. It’s like I’m cheating with a sexier game who likes it REAL rough, just like I do. For the love of Gore, let there be a sequel… and let this sequel be twice as long! PLATINUM GAMES F#%KIN RULES!!!

Madworld is one of those rare gems that reminds me of the brilliance of Sega games on the Dreamcast. Like Dreamcast games before it, the graphical style is bold and ambitious, and the gameplay is exciting and kitschy without sacrificing whatever odd ingredient makes it feel like a “gamer’s game.” It’s a video game in its purest form; complete unabashed visceral fun.

Although a very big fan of PlatinumGames (or Clover at least), I thought Madworld was okay’ish. I thought it was fun for the first hour but after that the fun kinda faded away. Maybe it’s just not my game. I really wished it was more challenging like God Hand (or maybe not as hard but at least challenging). Even though I know the game was purposely designed to focus on the creative violence (or so PGTV says), having the option for a hard mode would certainly helped people like me enjoy the game more. Hopefully Bayonetta will provide my action game needs.

Sega hasn’t forgotten its roots. This is everything an arcade brawler should be, proves Sega is still a top tier company and demonstrates the Wii can run with the PS3s and 360s of this world, in one fell swoop. Fantastic, simply fantastic.
