Valkyria Chronicles sales keep up the heat, holds steady among top 5 in both US and JapanThe other week we posted up an entry detailing the news that Valkyria sales had jumped pretty remarkably in both the US and Japan – with an anime on the Japanese side, sales here in the states, word of mouth and the DLC buzz driving interest, Gamasutra reported that the game flew up to #5 here in North America and took the top spot among all games in Japan. Numbers for the next week also went out just a few days ago, and it’s worth noting that Valkyria is still holding on strong in both the US and Japan. In the land of the rising sun, the game ranked in at #3 among PS3 sales, and here in the US Valkyria defended its #5 spot, ranking for a second week in the top five and this time selling even higher than Guitar Hero, which was one notch ahead of Valkyria the previous week. We’re coming for you next, #4. It’s also worth nothing that all three Valkyria DLC packs ranked pretty high upon release, with Behind Her Blue Flame and Edy’s Mission spearheading the front, and Hard Mode EX just behind them. If you or your friends are curious about what you get in each pack, be sure to check out the spotlights we did for them just before they hit the network. Finally, you can pick up Valkyria on Amazon for just $39.79 this week – if you don’t already have a copy, it’s another good chance to grab one following other sales of the game at retail. What’s that? You say you don’t have a PS3? We’ve just given you the perfect excuse to go out and get one. Thanks again to all the fans and community members who continue to promote the game and tell their friends! You guys make all the difference.

Good! I wanted to buy this game when I got a PS3 last week but it was sold out in every single retailer in Kitsap County Washington State so I had to order it from Amazon.. but it was sold out there so I ordered it from an Amazon store and hopefully I will finally get it soon.

Awesome! I love it that this game is finally getting the recognition it deserves! This is my favourite game on my PS3. Hopefully the sales boost will have SEGA consider adding trophies to this already awesome game, or maybe even make a sequel!

Gorgeous graphics, memorable characters, phenomenal, innovative battle system, strong story that consists of both, hilarious and heartbreaking moments, Valkyria Chronicles is an absolute masterpiece on every front and I am very happy to know that the game is selling pretty well.
Thank you for supporting the PS3, Sega, and keep up the amazing work! ^_^

Awesome, now we need some trophies.
If you want to make the sales boost a little more you should release trophies for the game, I know that it is a little hard and that the game wasnt made with that in mind, but if guys like Pandemic (with Mercenaries 2) and EA (with Battlefield) were able to make trophy support for games that were already released you guys can make it too.

This is great news. Everyone should play this game. It has a lot to offer.
Trophies would be an incentive for more people to check it out. And buy the dlc.

“What’s that? You say you don’t have a PS3? We’ve just given you the perfect excuse to go out and get one.”
I actually did just that (a few months ago). So now Sega has the perfect excuse to bring over Yakuza 3, right?
Seriously though, I’m really glad Valkyria Chronicles is finally getting some much-deserved attention and I hope it keeps going strong. Everything about it exudes the kind of excellent artistry, technical skill, heart and fun that is the best of Sega.

You should also consider introducing trophies to the game, it’s kind of scary how well a game will sell just because it has trophies. VC has established itself as one of the best games this generation now so by adding trophies you’ll definately annhiliate the top 4 XD

I’m incredibly happy to hear that VC is doing well in the US, any news on what the UK’s sales of VC are like as well?
