SEGA Announces 7 new titles for XBLA!Earlier this morning SEGA PR put out a press release about seven new SEGA Classics coming to XBLA. They are:
At first look, you’ll probably think to yourself “Well, I already have most of these in the Ultimate Genesis collection, so what’s the real difference here?” The first, and what may well be the most popular, is something we received a ton of feedback and comments on since the Ultimate Genesis Collection arrived: The Sonic and Knuckles download, which will be arriving late this summer, will work directly with Sonic 2 and Sonic 3, so if you have those downloaded already from XBLA, you can immediately start playing the games with the lock-on settings once Sonic and Knuckles releases. (Spoilers: people like their Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles, and Super Tails – and we do too!)
“Revolutionary new Lock-on Technology” - Not so new anymore, but still pretty awesome. Besides being able to pick up all 14 emeralds in a single playthrough, many of the games will also feature Network Play. This will exclude the obvious single-player games like Phantasy Star II, Shinobi, and Comix Zone, but should prove very interesting for the rest of the titles. All the details about Network Play specifics and how it will work in each game will be coming in the future, so keep your eyes and ears out! For now, we’re going to celebrate by busting out some old-school blast processing. This news also rekindled a memory of one of my favorite Sonic and Knuckles commercials, which I think you should all check out: “…So we sold the whole thing to SEGA.” By far one of my favorite lines in all the old 90′s commercials. Of the games and the news about online play, what are you guys most looking forward to? Are you a Sonic Lock-on fan, or more excited by online play in some of the other games?

Personally I’d recommend the Ultimate Genesis Collection instead if you’re not terribly concerned with online multiplayer or lock-on Sonic, but if you’re only interested in one or two then à la carte is certainly fine too.
Now where’s my localized HD/XBLA/PSN Phantasy Star Generation 1 and 2!

So not including Lock-On in Megadrive Collection was a big ploy to make people spend a grand total of 1600 MSP if they really want the full Sonic 3 & Knuckles experience.
That is of course, assuming you and Microsoft don’t decide to try and shaft users with the prices of Sonic 3 and S&K.
NO WAY! NO WAY? NO WAY!

I’m glad to see that you guys kept the lock-on bit. It’s a great little perk of owning multiple games (replay value…duh!). I’m still waiting on you guys when it comes to the Wii VC though. Still, a nice addition to the XBLA.

So….
When do PS3 owners get lock-on?
Pretty clear now why it was left out of the Ultimate Genesis Collection. Unfortunately they forgot the Sonic games were released on XBLA only. The PS3 version of SUGC should’ve had the lock-on games but as usual we get the short end of the stick again.

Little known fact, Web 3.0 will be powered by Blast Processing.
Great collection, and btw, playing Altered Beast arcade with unlimited continues is the ONLY way to fly. Rise from your grave, indeed.

I’m only excited about Gunstar Heroes, since I have every other game on PS3/Genesis.
Moer PSN games please. I’m still reeling from the lack of Outrun and Virtual On for PSN(US).
It’s honestly just terrible. If you keep releasing great games like these on PSN you’ll get a ton of new fans. I personally know a lot of people who’s eyes were opened when they played Outrun on PSN. So keep it up.

Or you could scratch that and just let the R&D divisions develop your new console games. They were clearly capable of doing so in the last generation, and you ghettoized them because you thought they were responsible for your marketing division’s mistakes.
And they continue to suffocate: http://www.segaarcade.com/

Great u released the Sega Mega drive Collection i Guess But ALL i care about on that Collection Basicly the Phantasy Star games. Phastasy Star 1 is THE CLASSIC one i dont understand why u never Release Phantasy Star Generation 1 & 2 of the old Classic’s from Japanish PS2 to US & EUROPE Need Translation that was that.
NOW U COULD RELEASE IT THE UPDATED VERSION OF PHANTASY STAR GENERATION 1 & 2 ON PSN & XBLA I WOULD GIVE 800 or even 1200/1600 MS point for each of them with the enhanced GFX & SOUND WHY SHOULD ONLY JAPAN ENJOY THE DIE HARD PHANTASY STAR THINGS. XBLA could use some good RPG’s LIKE PS1 my first ever rpg back in 88 i was like 10
EUROPIAN GAMER FAN OF PHANTASY STAR

I personally would like to see Burning Rangers somehow make its way onto either system’s download games. Either that, or Shining Force 3 complete (and preferably in English, as Japanese is completely unknown to me).
