E3 2009: It’s Happening in the SEGA Booth!I’m heading to Los Angeles tomorrow with Julian (Clumsy) and Aaron (Ruby) so we can bring you all the latest news and happenings from the E3 show floor. We’ve got lots of stuff planned, including blogs, tweets, and photos. But before we get rolling, I wanted to share with everyone some of the people you’ll see in and around our booth. If you’re coming to E3, please swing by the booth for these special events! Daisy Fuentes The former model and MTV VJ will be in our booth to promote Daisy Fuentes Pilates. She’ll be in our booth on Tuesday, June 2nd from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM signing 8×10 photos. Stop by our booth to meet Daisy and get her photo and autograph! Bayonetta Gaming’s next big female icon comes to life as the beautiful but deadly Bayonetta graces the SEGA booth. Bayonetta’s elaborate costume has been meticulously re-created, right down to her trademark foot guns (don’t worry, they’re not loaded). You can see Bayonetta in our booth on Tuesday from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM. On Wednesday, she’ll be there from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM. Your last chance to catch her is Thursday from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games The industry’s two most popular rivals will be in costume at the SEGA booth in the area for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Tuesday – Thursday to promote this year’s mega holiday hit. Alpha Protocol Line up to get your photo taken with the ladies of Alpha Protocol! These three CIA agents will be sporting neon squirt guns and dark sunglasses Tuesday – Thursday to help promote the #1 RPG of 2009. That’s all for now! We’ll have lots more coming up this week from the show.

I want Sega arcade games, not Bayonetta e co. I want the games that are the soul of Sega and these are Virtua Fighter 5 R, After Burner Climax etc.
Please Sega, give us them!

Don’t listen to Segaro hes nonsense, Bayonetta is my game of the show right now, I’ve seen nothing half as impressive or original yet and to me its VERY Sega-esque.
You know whats a total shame though? Another E3 with out a Sega Press Conference… Why? other 3rd party publishes have them… It isnt as if you have no games to show off you have more then you are even bothering to show… What about Phantasy Star Zero, Resinonce of Fate, Aliens Colonial Marines or Infinate Space?

Bayonetta is okay, but I want also Sega games. Not only published. Platinum games are cool and I’m happy that Sega published them, but where is my Sega of Japan games? They are the soul of Sega. And I want Sega on nextgen console…

Bayonetta is cool, but you know what we really want… Arcade ports and SoJ games!
Come on Sega, it’s good to publish games, but it’s way better to make them like the old days!

Bayonetta is far from Sega-esque Ryan, is more Capcom-esque.
This year E3 totally lacks of real Sega games.
Where are Afterburner Climax, VF5R, R Tuned, Border Break and other arcades agames, the real Sega Japan games etc.?
Have you forgotten why we became sega fans in the first place?
It’s ok to have published games to add more variety to the line up, but not to have ONLY published games and no REAL sega games.

Sega don’t forget that you also have some great arcade titles! Please bring us titles like
Virtua Fighter 5 R and After Burner Climax!
And also don’t forget that there are very talented people at Sega of Japan, give them the chance to make masterpieces just like they did in the past!

I don’t like this E3 lineup, no real Sega game, even if Bayonetta is really great.
Only 1 game from the Sega studios, and thats Sonic & Mario…. sad

I became a Sega fan because of great games, Bayonetta is looks fantastic… Nothing to cry about here.

…great games are everywhere. Nintendo has them. Capcom idem. Maybe also Namco.
But Sega games are not only great but different. Bayonetta is great yeah, but this isn’t Sega Difference. If tomorrow Bayonetta become a Microsoft/Sony/Ea game will be the same. A great game, but not a Sega game, as Outrun, Climax, Shenmue, Alex Kidd, the true Sonic ecc.

Ryan, there are many talented people who make great games, but personally (and I don’t think to be the only one) I became a fan of Sega because its game were UNIQUE.
Even Nintendo make always great games, but the sega one were special…
You can’t just say that any good game can be a Sega game.
Bayonetta seems very good, but it’s very far from a sega style game.
Not to mention “things” like Daisy Fuentes, ugh…
To be this good takes ages…

I don’t agree, I think Bayonetta is very Sega-esque, its got the fast action, its got the corny music… seems Sega enough to me.
Sega made allot of great games but lets not kid ourselves into thinking every game Sega made was ‘uniquely Sega’ even in the DC days, Saturn days, Genesis what ever… there was a load of non Sega like games coming from Sega.
What does Panzer Dragoon Saga share with Sonic Adventure or Puyo Puyo? nothing at all, they are nothing alike other then being good quality games… theres no running Sega theme in those games. Bayonetta is just like that… A great game and frankly one of the most Sega-esque non-Sega developed games ever… Far more Sega like then, say, Altered Beast which could have easily been anyones game back in the day… when those games were being pumped out, but thats still considered ‘A Sega Classic’.
You guys need to take off your Rose-tinted double standards glasses… Games like the Daisy Fuentes are not at all Sega-ish, it isnt quality… Bayonetta could have been a Sega developed game easy because not all Sega games were all that unique.

Obviously not all Sega games were uniques. But the AAA titles had a style different from the others. Panzer Dragoon, Sonic, the genres and the colours weren’t a problem. These are superfical difference. The philosophy behind the games was the same. For example Phantasy Star 1 and Sonic: apparently they are really different but behind there is the same approach of Naka san: not static, speed, ever a object in motion.
Bayonetta is the spiritual heir of Dmc, this is clearly. Bayonetta isn’t a Sega games because if Platinum was published by Nintendo/Activision/Thq/TakeTwo the game would have been the same. A Shenmue or a Golden Axe no.
However the problem here is not Bayonetta, but that in this E3 there aren’t true Sega games. No arcade, no AAA home console games from SoJ…

SEGA is unfortunately a very faded shadow of it’s former self. Long gone are the days of innovative game designers making the games we all once remembered SEGA to make. The majority of SEGA’s innovative and creative game design and developer staff have all gone from SEGA. If only SEGA concentrated on retaining it’s staff that make the good games then we would already be seeing Shenmue 4…… Come on SEGA – start from the basics get your talent back….

i can just agree with you guys. speaking about other than Bayonetta (wich will be a great game IMHO and deserves to be a SEGA game), what SEGA is missing is a game with a “SEGA soul”, the innovation and love that just that company have and that we all loves. I can understand they need commercial games, you can’t live just with love of the fans and thrue gamers, but it’s important anyway. So SEGA we still believe in you give us some good news as in the old Dreamcast time!

We’re all really happy that Sega is publishing great games like Empire: Total War or Mad World, or, in the future, Bayonetta and Alpha Protocolm but we don’t love Sega for this kind of games, we love Sega for his own vision of videogames, vision that today we can still see in great arcade games like VF5R, After Burner Climax, R Tuned or Border Break…please Sega shown us that you continue to be the great Sega we loved, bring to home console YOUR great games!

where’s the old school Sega ??? do you remember how glorious was your past ?? i have supported sega since the master system days ’till the days sega’s left the hardware business… but i cant belileve after all these years of great games , innovations , misunderstood masterpieces , everything is over…..
why every good arcade game of SOJ will never come to an home consolle ?? or yakuza, why it’ll never be out for the xbox 360 too ??
last year Makoto Osaki said about Virtua fighter 5 R ” if we get a lot of requests from users , it’s definitely possible, it will be announced for home systems” ok an year has passed ,i have sent like 20 mails for this great game, like me many other guys, and at the e3 there wasn’t virtua fighter 5 R
but not only …. there wasn’t a game developed by a sega team… only mario e sonic =(
Please tell us why , why sega fans does not mean nothing more , looks like only easy money is important now
Why S. jeffery said ,talking about shenmue III or a dreamcast 2 is stuff for fanboys ??
i have only one answer . this is not the sega we allways loved

I don’t like Sega’s E3 2009 lineup…it don’t reflect at all the true Sega spirit! where are the arcade games that made SEGA’S DIFFERENCE??
yes, Bayonetta is looking good, but I think that sega also have to focus in his most famous brand again, ,like After Burner Climax, VF5, Sonic games, and…Shenmue.
Ad one more thing…SEGA you have to be brave: try again to carry in EU or USA your great brand Ryu Ga Gotoku, please!

Once, Sega was the software house that created After Burner, Hang On, Alex Kidd, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Panzer Dragon, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Burning Rangers, Skies of Arcadia, Virtua Fighter, Virtual On, Virtua Tennis. Once Sega was the company of the innovation, the company that did amazing platform such as Sonic 3 or Sonic Adventure, the best fighting game as Virtua Fighter, the best arcade games.
What is Sega today? What are its best games? Bayonetta? Mad World?
Ok Bayonetta, Mad World, ok these games, but we are not asking about Shenmue 3 or a new console, but only some SEGA games, a small part, some arcade games, games that have the Sega style, the Sega difference, the Sega feeling. We have learned to love Sega for those games and we need them, your fans need those games, you Sega need those games, because you have an imagine to defend. You can’t become a pubblisher, not only a pubblisher. You can still do true Sega games: Virtua Fighter 5, After Burner Climax, The House of the Dead 4, Border Break, R-Tuned, Sega Race TV etc. But please, give us them on console! Are we asking about an enormous work to do? Only few new arcades, at least this…
Please Sega, don’t forget who you were in the past, don’t forget your past, don’t forget your fans who love you since we were children, since there were the Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive.
Don’t forget who you were and games that you did! Please, don’t forget, never!
