Sonic is 18! Wow. It’s hard to believe that but I suppose it was a while ago that I saved up for a Genesis bundled with the blue blur. I remember all the other gaming I did before Sonic, but man when I first got my hands on that speed demon gaming took on a whole new level. This was the first platform game that I really wore out. I mean that plumber guy was alright but he was no match for the blinding speed and amazing sound track of Sonic.

Sonic has been apart of my 22 years of life. I remember beating sonic 2 for the first time and getting Super Sonic, my mind was just blown. I also loved the Sonic Underground animated series because of it’s dark tone and stunning visuals but it’s too bad it was never finished. Sonic 2 for Genesis was my very first video game in 1992, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Sonic Adventure on dreamcast remains my favorite 3d game and when it comes down to it, there’s nothing I’d rather play than some good ol sonic games. Thanks for the memories and Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Sonic. It’s been 18 years already? Seems like yesterday my 6 year old self got a sega genesis and popped your cartridge in to open me up into whole new world. Mario Brothers be damned. From that point on, I was and will always be a Sonic fan first. Now, would you please stop appearing in games that have you turning into werehogs, focusing on supporting characters, and just get back to the nitty gritty fast paced coin collected, dr eggman beating blue blur you are destined to be.

Has it really been 18 years? The time does fly… I remember playing Sonic 2 endlessly with my sister after we went in on our Sega Genesis together. I still get a chance to play with her on Xbox 360 and love the memories the game brings. The Genesis and Sonic was what launched me into a true gamer and introduced me to a character I won’t ever forget. Now, to work at Sega and to be able to post this as an actual employee, well, it’s just too sweet.

Sonic was and is my idol. He was the very first video game i ever played. No kidding. I would spend hours trying to beat Sonic 1. But Sega, pleeaaase come to your senses and make a true sonic game. No werehog, no sword, no silver, no teamwork, no genie, no hoverboard, and definitly no CARS!!!!!!!!!! I’m just speaking from the heart. And im sure that im speaking for alot of other Sonic fan boys out there. If you guys would make a game like the sonic unleased daytime levels i sware to you that you would MILLIONS! We want to run, jump, spin dash, and homing attack though levels. And stop ripping of nitendo games please. I can’t handle watching them get better reviews then you. And one more thing. You guys have an awesome character on you hands, dont ruin him with crappy experimental games. I know that if Sonic died off because of bad games I would probably flip a gasket and go emo. I remember seeing an ad for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the back of the Super Monkey Ball 2 instruction manual. I had watched the cartoon before, and when I got the game, I was hooked on Sonic. SA2B is still my favorite in the series. Well, for now at least!

The first game in which I saw you was Sonic the Hedghog 2 for the Genesis, my first Sonic played game was 3-D Blast (which I still enjoy in Sonic Mega Collection); my Wii collection is Sonic and Sonic Team made, since Secret rings to Unleashed.

Happy 18th Birthday Sonic,
I hope you reach the 20 year mark and by the looks of it…I sure you will. Your game series will always be my favorite and I will always love and cherish every last one of them. Even though Marble Zone Act 2 (from Sonic the Hedgehog,1991) will always make me nervous, due to the fact my sister would do that lava chasing part over and over and I would freak every time, I will still keep playing.
Here’s to the first 18 years and hopefully a whole lot more.

PS: Even though it was only Japan that brought Sonic Adventure 2 on Sonic’s 10th birthday, Happy 8th birthday to Rouge the Bat and my favorite character in the Sonic franchise, Shadow the Hedgehog. I’ll be waiting to see what Sega puts you two in next.

Happy Birthday to my favorite hedgehog of all time and including game or games of all time Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles, You are the best however I wish you made Dreamcast 2 come true and prove to all that Sega is the best!! I know thing’s went wrong back in 2002 however every one in America never stops talking about Dreamcast and every one wishes that Sega would make a come back to next gen war, many talk trash over the Wii, 360 and their upcoming new system and how PS3 is the only one that sticks to the classic style of gaming. I do like them all but when it comes to SEGA I still have my Sega Genesis along with 32x and the Sega CD, I’m the biggest Sega Fan of all time I own it all just about however I and along with every one around here I know wish SEGA would come back just remember GENESIS dose what Nintendon’t! Being a big fan of Sega may not put much into putting you guys back into the war but I’m glad that I along with several million people who love Sega Games and spend their hard earn cash on all the games you make truly care and believe that SEGA is the best we want SEGA back in the war

I owned a sega genesis and all sonic’s games for it. It was my all time favorite system and games. I followed him to nintendo and now my son and daughter play them. It’s great that Sonic is still around for my kids to enjoy. Happy Birthday.

I can’t believe you’re already 18! It’s Amazing!
I just wanted to let you know that you’ll forever be. No one could ever replace that big-hearted, warm-loving blue hedgehog that we’ve all come to love. And no matter the situation, You always have came on top.

You may not know it, but in your 2006 game, Even though you died, you still came back to life because Elise cared and loved you too much. (sorry, you probibly don’t know what i’m talkin’ bout, Sonic…hehehehe….)

So, I just wish the very best in this day, and hope you get every one’s respect… even Eggman. Oh, Could you do me a favor, also? Eggman is planning somethin again, so, check it out soon.

I just thought of an idea. To celebrate after the winter games comes out, why not make a sonic game called,”The Sonic Origin,” for the wii, xbox 360, and ps3. Just here me out. We all know about the cool blue hedghog Sonic right? Well what do we know about his past beforehe met eggman and the other sonic gang? Ya get where I’m going with this? So that’s pretty much it. Sonic has been my all time favorite character!! When Sonic first came out on the SEGA GENISES console, guess what… I played it! Ever since sonic appeared, he’s been my favorite character since i was 2! O.K, I might have been too young when i played that game, But believe me, Sonic was the first character i played on a video game. I mean, when i got my first gaming system ( Sega Genises) my first game was ” Sonic The Hedgehog” ( Sonic’s first game) So that proves Sonic was the first character I ever played on a video game. And I can’t believe Sonic is finnaly 18!!! He had a long history! And now he is a fully grown adult. I’ve been waiting years for this to happen. Sonic, you are just simply the best. I thought that maybe you were going to lose it but right when you pulled out Sonic Unleashed I was amazed. Sega, this is your biggest fan speaking for all of the other Sonic fans including the ones above this comment and below for the future blogers. We are telling you to bring Sonic back to his GOOD days! The Sonic Unleashed daytime stages were AWESOME! But I find that you’re forgetting a lot of things. First of all, I think Yuji Naka needs to come back and to be the director of his game, just like how Shigeru Miyamoto is the one who makes the Mario and Zelda games. Next thing, I was disappointed with Sonic Unleashed because there were no real items in the item boxes! Sure there’s 1-ups but where’s the barriers, speed boosts, invincibility ( that would have been helpful in Sonic Unleashed), and last thing, I don’t really recall seeing any checkpoint post things in Sonic Unleashed, yes they were in there for the time attack challenges but I don’t think I saw them in the main missions. I think some of the people above are right especially comment # 36. We are giving you ideas on how to bring Sonic back up to speed and I don’t think you’re doing anything! Do you want your own mascot lose speed and NOT be the world’s fastest hedgehog? OR do you want him to keep running at full speed?

Also, are you planning on doing a Sonic the Hedgehog Theatrical movie? I think you shold team up with Dreamworks Animation and make it in 3D!! You guys can supervise the movie so it’s done right. Also have Crush 40 do the music!

Anyway, Happy Birthday to Sonic the Hedgehog, eat lots of chili dogs and cake and I hope Sega can give you a good game!!

my favorite “memory” was sonic adventure 2 because that was the game that got me hooked!!!!!! oh where had the years gone…. I hope your games become better and that you stop ripping everything from George Lucas and Terminator…….. meaning…. go back to being the lovable blue guy with the witty one liners that everyone enjoyed and just do what you do best, run freaking fast!!!!!! you don’t need no hover board or a a car….. just your two feet! god gave you two feet, you should utilize them… i mean doesn’t 18 offically mean your on your own? to my parents that means no car for you!!!!

You had always been one of the most memorable moments of my childhood! and dang boy shoot you da the same age as my older brother…. but that’s beside the point^^
You kicked major butt in Super smash brothers brawl, but you make a crappy pinball… you aint no pinball wizard if you know what i mean ^^…. but that is besides the point.

i still play sonic adventure 2 and it is my ALL time favorite game. the story never gets old to me! i love just going fast! maybe one day you can relive that experience… [meaning wii remake ^^ hey! who said that?]

You’ve had a big impact on me; I’m a cartoonist because I grew up reading the Archie Sonic comics and playing the visually lush Genesis classics. The Sonic and Knuckles logo has been permanently emblazoned on my shoulder in ink. Needless to say, I wouldn’t be where I am today without you and the whole Sonic Team. For that, I thank you all.

We have to be frank with ourselves, though; your recent games have fallen into a bottemless pit of gimmick. Time after time, you’ve been made to stray from your solid roots, and have suffered for it. Unleashed’s daytime levels have brought you to the edge of a comeback, as you draw closer and closer to that which made you the king of the 90′s.

I urge the entire Sonic Team; don’t forget where our favorite super-fast blue mammal came from! Look at Sonic Rush, and how well that did (and how GOOD it was!). Even if it means releasing download-only short games, don’t let the successful past slip out of your memories! Stick to what propelled Sonic to stardom, and you’re destined for greatness!

Anyway, have an awesome birthday, Blue Blur! Hope to see you soon, doing what you do best; tearing up the street!

Happy birthday Sonic! Thanks for being one of my favorite VG character since 1991 (when I played Sonic for the first time) and keep on it! I hope you will be in another game very soon! SEGA should make some remake of your old school games for your majority!

This year will be Sonic’s 20th year on june 23. He did got the goods and the bads at time, but no matter. No matter how good or bad the adventure is, that blue hedgehog will always have the best times in his life. After all, Sega really made Sonic, his friends, enemies, rivals, and fans a punch when those video games inspires them like me as I got inspired from the new things I encountered. Sonic will have the best in his life, even when he became old or have a child along with his friends. Besides, doesn’t anyone know what I am?
