Valkyria Chronicles II announced for the US!
Listen as the drums of battle echo once more. Stand up, Gallia – defend all that you hold dear. The year is 1937 EC. Two years later, the ashes of the Second Europan war still glow in Gallia’s history. But even peace is a fragile happiness – and hearts that once fought side by side are not forever friends. In the midst of this peace appears a group known as the Gallian Revolutionary Army, swearing to topple the current government – in a lightning fast coup, they arm themselves with the best of both Gallian technology and soldiers. What was once a small but strong unified country is instantly plunged back onto the battlefield. But the day and age of the last war’s heros is already fading out – with families to protect and children to raise, they are the ones who must now be protected. While numbers split and tensions rise, the spotlight shines to a handful of up-and-coming students at a Gallian Military Academy. As civil war begins to rage across the country, morality and war clash with passion and ideals. But this time the distinction between blue and red is not so simple – nor will it ever be. Gallia once stood as a defiant beacon of hope against a giant empire… but can the country now defend against it’s own? As of today, SEGA is proud to announce Valkyria Chronicles II – the sequel to the legendary PS3 epic – is coming to the west exclusively on the PSP! Join the battle once more in the next addition to the Valkyria franchise – created by the same team behind the original. Valkyria Chronicles II will be arriving Summer 2010 – until then, you can follow all news Valkyria on the official Facebook and Twitter pages! Finally, we’d like to give a special shout out to all the fans – those who put a fantastic game back into the spotlight, and continue to show their dedication and support for the series. This one goes out to all of you.

I’m with Andrey on this one. You’ll get a PS3 owner in me if you bring over Yakuza 3!

I’m very excited and very worried at once. I so hope that VCII is still as stellar as the first. Please please don;t screw it all to hell. I do find the part about hearts that once fought on the same side aren’t friends forever. Would pretty much ensure that there will be some return characters from the first. It will be procured somehow at midnight on release day for me.

Well, after refusing to localize the PS3 Ryu Ga Gotoku games and keeping games released in Europe and Japan off the North American PSN Store at Microsoft’s behest, I will not buy this, just like I did not buy the DLC for Valkyria Chronicles. ****YOU, SEGA!

Seriously, what’s up with people and the internet >.>
Sega, you’re doing great
Thanks for such fine games. I wasn’t a big fan of your approach with the Localization of Part I as i like my translation more literally but it was nevertheless a great game with a high quality Localization. Keep up the good work \o/

For the love of god, please advertise/market this game correctly. Meaning, spend more than 0 dollars. Put up some ads on IGN, or Penny Arcade, or something. But advertise!
VCI has really poor sales it seems like because no one knew was it was.

Will Valkyria Chronicles 2 come with the option to switch between English and Japanese dialogues? Also, what language is the default dialogue going to be for the US release?

Day one purchase for me. I’d like to thank the Sega community team here as well for their continued efforts to promote VC.

D – Worth noting first that Yakuza 3 could actually come to the west still. It has not been 100% denied or confirmed, and the rumor about it being cancelled is actually false.
Mahouneko – I’ll check into that. I know that PSP’s obviously have a lot less space than the PS3, which makes it harder to include all that, but it’s still definitely worth asking.
Draikin – thank you as well!

Will the PSP’s smaller install base in North America be taken into account when judging the sales performance of title?
I just want to make sure that SEGA realizes that fan don’t want the series to end here but want to see a return to the home console space.

I enjoyed the first game on the PS3 and I was hoping the sequel would also be on the PS3 as well. Anyway I’m glad Valkyria Chronicles did so well that they made a sequel for it and I’ll be buying this as soon as it comes out for the PSP. Thanks Sega for localizing it here. Also I’m wondering if there is any news about Ryu ga gotoku 3 (a.k.a. Yakuza 3) coming to North America?

Damn I’ve been seeing a lot of people asking for Yakuza 3.
I think Sega has to take notice at this point. I’m a huge proponent of the Japanese-games-for-all school of thought, but even I’m surprised at the show of hands regarding a Yakuza 3 release.

Yeah, I’ll join the parade for Yakuza 3 in the West. I want it.
From a consumer perspective: with the number of PS3 exclusive titles being relatively slim and the new price point of the console itself; this makes Yakuza far more attractive on the PS3 than it was on the PS2.
Though, the game needs advertising push to give it some muscle. I wouldn’t even bother adding English voice-overs just text dubbed like Muramasa.

So, will the title be available for download for PSP GO users? Or is there like a transfer UMD option?

Please I beg you keep the Japanese voices. PLEASE DEAR GOD DO NOT MAKE ME LISTEN TO A DUB.

I wouldn’t buy it if they seriously think just because people live in Region 1 they’d prefer English. That is reverse racism and why I support companies that keep things as close to the original. If UMD space is a problem, make it PSN only. Pay directly and space would be less of a problem.
