SEGA US Offices Get New Sonic StatueSo I’m just sitting at my desk, typing away, when one of our HR reps appears over the wall of my cube. She says there’s a new Sonic in the lobby, and I should bring my camera. I dash off to find a major project in the works — the assembly of a new Sonic statue. In case you’ve never been to our offices (as I assume most of you have not), we have a Sonic in our lobby. It’s the older ’99-ish Sonic. He comes up to my mid-torso — tall enough for me to rest my elbow on. When I arrived, the base was already unpacked and people were busy working on unpacking the rest of the pieces.
Once all the pieces were unpacked, we started putting him together. First on were the shoes. Then the body.
Voila! New Sonic is up! As you can see, the new Sonic statue is quite a bit taller than the old one. When I posted this on Twitter earlier, I had tons of people asking me what was going to happen to the old one. A big giveaway? A Free Stuff Friday prize? Would I have sympathy in my heart to give the old statue to the person who begged the most? Sadly, the answer is none of the above. The old Sonic will go into Hope you enjoyed a peek into our offices and the new Sonic that will greet us every day. There are more photos on our Flickr set, so if you can’t get enough Sonic construction, you can go there. | ||

Those photos don’t quite do justice to how big this new Sonic statue is. I just walked by him and he’s roughly the size of our X-Mas tree that we have in the lobby. This Sonic statue means serious business. We’re all pretty terrified of him coming to life. Actually, I guess that would be awesome if he came to life… We just need to have some rings ready, since he’d surely want rings. Hmm. Do donuts count as rings?

I think that only works if you’re trying to fend off Homer Simpson, not Sonic.

It looks like a bigger version of the ones Gamestop was giving for pre-orders of the first 360 iteration. It’s weird seeing one that big.

Erm…am I the only one who noticed the very new-looking screenshot on the TV there?
I’ve been waiting for 2 months for new Project Needlemouse info, and I’m thinking…could this be a shot from it?
I’m guessing you can play as Tails then…

That statue looks just like the 15th anniversary Sonic figure, same exact pose and everything.
I was about to get all giddy cause I thought SEGA was selling that statue, lol
Still looks cool, though.

Kellie – I realised after I posted that. XD
Any idea when we’ll be getting some more info on Needlemouse? I mean I love “almost” every Sonic game and would be excited for any new game, but the teaser for this just got me. The retro sounds, emblem etc…I seriously can’t wait!
Tell everyone at Sega to “accidentally” leak something maybe?

So cool! XD I’d say I’d want one, but it’d be a little freaky having this six foot blue dude in the house, just waiting to come to life and tear the house apart in search of chilli dogs.
The smaller one might be more convenient ^.^

Wow, I finally got to get a peek at the HQ of one of my favoite companies. That’s great!
It would be awesome to have them both standing side by side rather than putting away the old one. I want to go there one day, SEGA! You guys are totally great, been a fan since the first sonic game came out!
And is that a new game I see~? SEGA, what are you guys up to~? >o>

SEGA I hate the new statue. If you don’t like the old one in there can you send him to me.I thinknhe would like being in my room.I just hate that new Sonic. He doesn’t even look like a hedgehog nowadays.aNow he looks like an evil humanized monkey thing. The newer looking Sonic ruined my whole life. Why did you do that.Don’t put him in storage.Bring him to me if you want him to have a happy home.
