Yakuza 3 is coming WestAfter months upon months of requests, a myriad of rumors, and even full campaigns that speak to the unparalleled dedication of the fans, we can finally speak those words that all of you have been waiting anxiously to hear. So, here they are: Yakuza 3 is coming West. Featuring the original all-star Japanese voice cast and subtitled in English, Yakuza 3 chronicles the next steps in the life of the man once known as the Dragon of Dojima – Kiryu Kazuma. As Kiryu works to begin a new life running an orphanage in Okinawa, the world he left behind in Tokyo also moves quickly. When the chairman of the Tojo clan is shot and the rivalry between the families plunges the city into chaos, even Okinawa is not far enough away to escape the grasp of the mysterious forces pulling the strings. Then, when one of Kiryu’s close friends in Okinawa is found with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, things take a new turn for the worse. Driven to protect his friends, the Dragon is alive again – Kiryu returns to the dark city of Kamurocho, and will stop at nothing to find those responsible and give them his own taste of justice. Releasing March 2010, the epic Yakuza saga continues, exclusively on the Playstation 3. Last but not least, we’d like to give special thanks to you guys, the Yakuza fans! Your passion and dedication has helped make this a reality, and we’d like to extend that thanks by letting you submit questions to the Yakuza 3 development team in Japan! To do so, just put *Dev Question* before typing your question here in the comments. Until next time – we’ll have lots more news and in-depth looks at what Yakuza 3 has to offer very soon. Spread the word – Yakuza 3 is coming!

*Dev Question*
Will this have an EU release, or is it best to import an US version to England, as the PS3 is region free (Thank God!)? Will this affect access to any possible future DLC released on the EU PSN store?
Not to sound like a non-purist, but is there no chance of a English voice track? The non-English soundtrack of Yakuza 2 wasn’t off putting at all, to be fair; however, the choice would be a nice bonus.
Will there be a limited edition “Western” release, please? A Kiryu Kazuma statue? A voucher for a dragon tattoo? (;
Any chance of a character named after me (for the western release), please: “Joe Pendragon”?
This is the best news I’ve heard all year, I can’t wait to play it. Great effort! I will sing this news from the rooftops (it may pave the way for Shenmue 3?)

Sega, thank you for listening to the fans. May you be rewarded with goodwill and sales both.

Oh, and don’t forget to advertise this one. You’ve got one of the best-looking games on PS3 — it deserves more than a few launch trailers.

Incredible. I am so excited. I hope the general public will notice this games true quality, and help it overcome the deluge of March releases. Yakuza is better than GoW, GT and FF. No question.
I hope Sega tries to show the public that fact.

Dev. Question.
Will everything remain intact for the US version of the game?
Will there be any improvements or additions to the game?
Will you release Yakuza 1 and 2 in a collection in HD, similiar to the God of War collection? I would buy 5 if you did lol.

Thanks Clumsyorchid,
With a confirmed EU/Aus, NZ et al release (as well as a NA one too), this means we may well see Yakuza 3 items in *all* PSN Stores. (: Not only Yakuza 3 Themes, but videos, gameplay videos, a demo, even content for Home. My Home avatar would wear his dragon tattoo with pride, on his bare back, whilst strolling through Home Square.
Osu.

cool! if I had a PS3 Id get this.
If you release Shenmue 3,I’ll buy a PS3. you listen to these fans, but not the Shenmue fans. Truly unfair.
Either way,This is cool!

Fantastic news and all!
I don’t have a Dev question, I have one for who ever desides the release dates, the question is,
Do you value your job?
Becuase frankly why even thought it was a good idea to release this game AND Resonance of Fate in MARCH along with freakin’ God of War, Final Fantasy and GT5 is sending these games out to die… They are going to be eclypced.
I would really like some kind of answer as to why anyone thought this was a good idea?
Also why do you send out more then one Sega game on the same day? EVER? Making us Sega fans have to choose…

This is excellent news. I’m sure playstation fans will be happy to pick up such a high-profile title in the blue sea of their exclusives.

*Dev Question*
There are rumors that the hostess club optional sidequests have been removed in the U.S. version. The U.S. demo is different from the Japanese demo and trophies have changed.
Is this rumor true?

DEV Question As a person who only speaks english I was very discouraging when i had heard that Yakuza 3 would only be having english subtitles and no voice over acting. It will be alot harder for people to really get into the story when their reading instead of listening when it comes to major cut scenes. I was just wondering why you made the decision to go with only japanese speaking Thank You for your time and effort.

-WARNING TO ALL YAKUZA 3 PURCHASERS-
Compelling evidence has come to light that sega may have cut a significant amount of minigames from the game despite assuring us the release would be uncut.
It would be nice if someone at Sega could please comment on this.

I’m not gonna pay full price for a cut game.

Please someone at sega PLEASE PLEASE make a official statement on the rumors that you took the hostess clubs out, a bunch of people are sitting on the sidelines wondering what you did since the demo didn’t have the hostess club (and rumors of less trophies than japan..)
Is it going to be DLC content later or what’s the deal? PLEASE ANSWER. Thanks!

I have just heard that you have removed Hostess Bars, Massage Parlours, Mahjong and Chess from the game. Please tell me this isn’t true. And if this is true, please tell me that you’re planning to at least release them as a DLC. Otherwise this is a big goddamn middle finger you’re showing to the fans of this game. Why would you do that? Out of spite? If you’re not doing it right, better not do it at all.
If these activities are really out of the game (especially Mahjong), I have two words for you: “FUCK YOU!”. I don’t care if this message doesn’t pass your moderation, but I sure as hell hope that you show this message to those who were in charge of this localization mess. You have now pissed off many Yakuza fans.
I hope you give us some official statement of this matter. I sure as hell hope that you can still rectify this by a DLC pack or something.

You guys need to do some damage control on this cut content stuff. I’m buying the game either way, but there are a lot of people who claim they are caneling pre-orders.
On a larger-scale note: Why the heck are you releasing this the same day as FFXIII? Do you remember how tons of games got pushed back into the new year so they didn’t complete with Modern Warfare 2? Maybe you should try that next time, if you even give Yakuza 4 a localization.

I appreciate the fact that the game even made it over to the U.S. but i’ll just say this one thing and be done with it. If Sega can’t be bothered to finish at least localizing a game I guess I can’t be bothered to purchase it.

Drokk! I wanted to win some money at the Mahjong parlour and lose it at the hostess bar.
I’ll still buy the game, of course; but, my heart breaks somewhat.
PS it’s great that the EU standard edition is the special edition, thanks Sega. And the demo is amazing the 2 “Revalation” cut scenes made me laugh, that dirty old man by Stardust deserved to have his shoulder socket popped out! (:
Please don’t let the cut content put you off buying Yakuza 3, I’m sure Sega will re-introduce it (either by (free?) DLC, or button combo, save file hack (Hot Coffee (or should that be Matcha?)), or leaked patch (Carmageddon)). ^_^

Great job!
But I don’t understand why you removed the hostess bars, because they are hard to ‘understand in the west’. `Well if that’s the case the whole game is hard to understand in the west, so thats kind of a weak argument. Us western players want the full authentic expierence when buying this game. I hope you will learn to understand to don’t make cuts for the western versions in the future! Just let the game stay intact with all japanese/asian cultural goodness!
