The Needlemouse Challenge – FINAL DAY!Welcome back everyone, Today brings us to the last day of the Needlemouse Challenge! Through a valiant effort yesterday, the community was able to achieve the original goal of 750+ correct responses on the SEGA forums, and came notably close to the 1,000 bonus point mark. There’s still one last chance to get that bonus point – and today, you guys have a very unique way of doing so! This morning we’re removing the next two names from the list: Shade and Amy. Later you two!
Day 4: Twitter (Difficulty: High)Final Goal: Reply @SEGA on Twitter with a total of 1,000 correct answers! Bonus Point Earned if correct replies break 1,250 responses, OR if #SEGA or #Needlemouse become trending topics! How to create trending topics: Trending Topics on twitter are words or phrases that are the most frequently written. Put a # just before the word (ex: #SEGA) to contribute to a it’s rank. Wow, I’m surprised that Amy was knocked off now. If only 2 more characters are removed… but there’s 3 characters up there that don’t belong (Well, imo 4, but Shadow can stay I guess). And why is Froggy still up there?
And once again, leaving out much of your fanbase because many of us don’t have, nor know how to use Twitter.

The characters marked rejected on there aren’t going to be in it, but ones left on there could very well be left out. And it’s not like they can’t reject three+ in one day, either.

I’m pretty sad that Amy is crossed off. My dream Sonic game is to play a 2D console Sonic game as Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Amy.

The funny thing is… my theory is that they don’t have all of the characters up there. Knuckles and Tails aren’t even mentioned. Maybe there will be other characters in the game but they want to keep some stuff hidden from us for surprise.

If you want to reach the old school sonic fans, dont put in Big the cat or other characters.
hope you guys stick to the Genesis characters. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik and dont make them in the human world and the baddies need to be robotic animal drones, they were AWESOME. anyways hope more will be revealed soon (:

That’s because the Sonic fanbase is so different. Not everyone wants to play a Sonic only game. There’s some who only wants Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails to playable then theres some who wants the more recent characters, like Silver and Shadow. Then there’s some who even wants the cartoon/comic book characters like Sally to appear in it.
This shows that SEGA can’t please every single fan out there. -_-

1: If you lock Sonic 3 onto Sonic and Knuckles, you can unlock 7 Chaos Emeralds as well as unlocking their modified forms of 7 Super Emeralds, coming to a total of 14 Emeralds.
2: Easy, Naoto Oshima was the designer of Sonic.
3: The Japanese name for Sonic was Harinezumi-san (the Japanese word for Hedgehog). Directly translated to English it means Mr. Needlemouse.

How about you do a little research. Robotnik was ALWAYS called Dr Eggman in Japan. SEGA just took the Japanese name and used it in the more recent English games. How is it nonsense if that is his original, canon name?

I love Sonic and he’s one of my favorites but I don’t want to play just him for the story (if there is one). Thats just plain boring. Plus there already two recent games where you play just as Sonic for the main part of the game.
I wanted Amy and Shadow to be playable. But now that Amy’s cut from the list, I highly doubt Shadow is in this game either.
I don’t hate Big or Froggy but I’m not at all interested to play as them. Mr Needlemouse as a character’s name seems too far fetched to actually be a character in a Sonic game.
From a scale from 1 to 10. I was at a 10 from curiosity and anxiousness about the game in the beginning of the week. Now I’m at a 2. I have a twitter account but I’m not going to participate this time. Soon or later all the info will be released, one way or another.

This is crap….I pretty much swore I wouldn’t get it but I’m too much of a Sonic Fan to not contribute.
But with Amy gone I now get pretty scared of the final characters confirmed for this game. I mean if SEGA only knocks off two people tomorrow (which in all fairness they should otherwise this whole countdown has been a waste of time) then surely that leaves: Sonic, Shadow and Mr. Needlemouse. Having Big the Cat and/or Froggy as playable characters would be inappropriate and a huge slap in the face to all Sonic fans. What makes me mad is that SEGA will more than likely “unleash” a whopping 4 “REJECTED” stickers leaving Sonic as the only confirmed playable character: which is what people had already assumed from the announcement of the game! I could see them leaving Shadow in the end with Sonic but he better play different than Sonic….otherwise he is no more than a character skin. SEGA never said that this list was limited to all possible characters in the game but said “here’s a list of characters”, so hopefully Tails and Knuckles are in if Shadow makes it.

I hope shadow is out, he’s a stupid character. An angstier sonic, a knuckles for a new age, but all he does is water down the brand like every other character. I was hoping Tails would be in the game and maybe knuckles would make an appearance also. Honestly, I know this might irritate people, but to have Robotnik as playable maybe between zones, sorta like princess peach in paper mario would be cool. As long as it wasn’t a distraction, just sorta a glimpse into 2D Robotniks world.

I’m sorta hoping it’ll just come down to Sonic, Shadow and Mr. Needlemouse.
But old fans of Sonic know that Needlemouse was also the codename for Sonic, so it’s either a cleverly planned ruse to eventually just have Sonic and Mr. Needlemouse as the only characters, thus making the only character: Sonic.
Or I’m just paranoid. Sonic and Shadow would be two pretty reasonable playable characters.
It would also account for the lack of Shadow 2. =(

It seems somewhat obvious what the overall outcome of this will be. Two of the five remaining characters will be eliminated tomorrow, and the bonus points will allow for two more to rejected, leaving just one: Sonic. His name is conveniently exactly in the same place that his name is on the title screen from Sonic 1, which matches the silhouette in the countdown. This leads me to believe that when Sonic is the only one left, the image will become “un-silhouettified” and we’ll get to see a new rendition of the classic title.

I really like Amy Rose. Now Amy Rose wasn’t really playable in the classics, and she was in Sonic CD which wasn’t as known as the classics due to releasing on Sega CD.
However, Amy Rose’s beauty is something I want to talk about. I mean, Amy Rose is attractive in so many ways. No Amy?

Shadow was “emo” in Shadow the Hedgehog, but that was only 1 game. I like Shadow in SA2 and in Sonic 06.
In Sonic 06, “Sonic” was the annoying elise-loving character.

1) There are 16 emeralds in S3&K (8 usual emeralds and 8 super emeralds)! You forgot tho secret special stages with golden emerald and golden super emerald which were available in Debug Mode.

For those who do read this. Odds are only Sonic will be left. Hopefully. Tails and Knuckles aren’t in the list, so that’s a good sign they are already IN the game.
And YES I’m tired of saying this.. That IS SONIC IN THE LOGO! All these people born in the mid 90s….
Yeah. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles. That’s all you need to please any true Sonic fan.

Why does everyone have all this hate against shadow? His character isn’t that bad and I’d rather have him than bloody big the cat. Anyway shadow has the same sort of abilities as sonic and so he could be a playable character (although i’d rather just have sonic as only playable).

No this game will suck if they keep every single character they have on that list. This game is suppose to be the return of 2D Sonic where it was simple and didn’t have a bunch of playable charaacters, and if they keep every single character from the recent game then it won’t feel oldschool at all and it will drag the game down.
