Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing ToysWe’re collecting questions for Joe Amaro at Jazwares about the making of Sonic toys like these. If you have a question for Joe, leave it in the comments! Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing fans! Many of you asked about the toys that we gave away during our last Free Stuff Friday, and that our European friends are giving away this week. Now that the game is out, I’ve got some great news for you… these sweet toys are on sale now exclusively at Toys ‘R’ Us! There are three of them — Sonic, Shadow, and Knuckles. They are 3 inch toys that are removable from their 5 inch vehicles. They are on sale for $14.99 each. I’m lucky enough to have a few of these toys to give away during Free Stuff Friday, so keep your eyes peeled for these in an upcoming giveaway. You Ask, They AnswerSo what goes into making these toys, anyway? Joe Amaro at Jazwares is the one to ask! He’s in charge of all the Sonic toys made by Jazwares, from concept to production. He even visits the factories that make the toys to ensure that they are being made correctly! Joe’s worked on Mortal Kombat, Viewtiful Joe, Astro Boy, Planet 51, Percy Jackson, and A-Team as well, so he has quite a background. I’ll soon be doing a Q&A with Joe about everything related to the Sonic toys that Jazwares makes, and I want to add your questions. Ask Joe what you want to know about Sonic toys, and check the blog in a week or two for the full Q&A!

I saw miniature versions of these at Toys’R'Us, I decided against buying them because they seemed kind of pudgy for their size.
I’ll end up getting these probably. Will any of the other characters be released? I’d love to have Billy Hatcher and Samba de Amigo

I do have a question.
I speak for all of those who have wanted one when I ask: Have you considered making a Super Sonic action figure (not Super Poser) at all in the future?

Questions here!
What would you say is the biggest factor in making the toys as accurate as possible? More specifically, what do you find most difficult in maintaing the balance between accuracy and constructional integrity? Should the model be extremely similar to the in-game model, but require a special stand due to its construction? Or should it look a little bit off, but be easier to play with or display?
They look great as well! Almost forget to mention!

Agree with Essie (#12). I would have liked to see an Alex Kidd figure, but I guess there’s not much market for Alex these days.

Could you ask them how much a custom figure order from a customer would cost, or if they even do that sort of thing?
Or if it’s possible to home make anything of the sort? Because I’d love to try making something like this.

1. I’d like to second(third?) the question on making comic book characters such as Sally, Scourge, etc. How likely is it that such characters could be eventually made? Granted, art and assets would have to be made, but I’d love to see them. In addition, using the comics would be a great way to bring in classic characters such as Mighty, Fang, Bark, etc. Of course, if there end up being sales issues, you could always package them with extremely popular characters like Super Sonic.
2. This is a big one. Will you PLEASE fix the Super Poser Super Sonic (as in upturn the quills and fix the face)? NOBODY WANTS A YELLOW SONIC
3. Speaking of Super Sonic, will there be 3″ figures of the Super characters?
4. Any word on a release for the 3″ Amy, Big, and Eggman?

Ok fine, one more
5. Just what factors into choosing which characters get made? Granted, we all have different characters we all love (I would personally spend loads of money on a Metal Knuckles myself), but a lot of times what we might want to see just may not be feasible for the company.

Ok, I’ve got loads of questions, if you don’t mind:
1) Will you be resculting the original Super Posers, Sonic and Shadow?
2) I agree with the question of making a SUPER SONIC figure.
3) What upcoming figures can we look forward to in the 3 inch line (other than Metal Sonic, Eggman, Amy, and Big)?
4) Will you contiunue making figures in the 5 inch scale?
5) Will you ever make Sonic bendies?
6) Will you make figures for Sonic 4?
7) And finally, I support the question “Now that Toys R Us has lost its exclusive, what other stores will Sonic figures be sold in?”

Just wondering Joe, when is the metal sonic/sonic comic pack going to be released? I’ve also heard that Sonic will be switched with Amy in later waves for that pack but when does that variant come out?

Have you guys confirmed production on a 3′ Super Sonic figure yet? Oh. Well be sure to buzz me when that’s on its way.
Aside from that, I agree that comic characters would be interesting and fun. (Sally and co.)

Oh man Im so excited your doing this! Well I VERY much look forward to eggman and all the other characters. But could we PLEASE see a small and maybe large RYO HAZUKI figure? I know there is a contest for a limited edition figure. But of course thats the unfortunate part. Its limited. At the very least I along with many many many other Shenmue fans and Sega fans would be so very very happy if there were to be such a figure made for retail.
Of course this is a big FAN request primarily. From a Business aspect I do feel it they would sell well. After all what would be the 3rd game in the series is one of the most wanted video game sequels ever.

A couple of questions…
1. Do you have any plans for making a Billy Hatcher for the 5″ Sonic and SEGA Racing line?
2. Do you have any plans for making Team Chaotix (Espio, Vector, Charmy) in the 3″ line? (They could all be in a 3-Pack at $15)
3. When will previously announced figures (such as 3″ Big, 3″Eggman, and Sonic & SEGA 5″ Beat, AiAi, and Amigo) see release?

Hello!
Here’s my question: Are you going to make any Badnik figures? That would be awesome. If you made a line for Sonic 4, you should make some of the Badniks from it. You should also make a Dr. Robotnik with his Hovercraft/Egg-O-Matic/pod.

Hi AMARO some questions
1) Any news on the U,K release dates for the figures?
2) Will the rest of the ALL STAR RACING crew be made? Love to see a AMIGO one
3) When is the next 3 inch line due for release with BIG, AMY, ROBOTNIK & the METAL SONIC- SONIC comic pack?
4) I know many have been asking and the more questions the more likely right? MIGHTY, NACK, BEAN BARK, RAY, SONIC’S BAND will we ever see these chracters being made you would score MAJOR BONUS POINTS FROM MASSES OF FANS BELIEVE ME!
5) I hope you’ll also make some (if not) the majority of the ARCHIE COMICS characters as theres potential for awesome designs here, the DARK LEGION and DR FINITUS are prime examples and even SCOURGE- SALLY – BUNNIE – SNIVLEY heck even MONKEY KHAN. Please put this into consideration!!!
6) Will the Chaotix make an appearence in a future 3 inch line?
7) Someone mentioned the BADNIKS again if you bundled them themely eg SONIC 1 BADNIKS PACK they will sell, and again YOU’LL SCORE MAJOR POINTS!
9) How about SONIC SLIPPERS SHOES
10 Final any chances of at least one playset, Emerald Hill Zone or THE DEATH EGG from Sonic 3 & Knuckles?

I have a question: Have you ever considered making a collection of figures? and editions like, sonic with his SOAP shoes, or figures that you can attach those power ups to? like the light speed shoes or crystal ring from SA1? Just wondering.
And are you gonna come out with a new super sonic figure? And maybe exen have the fur be translucent and light up! Just a suggestion.

First off I just want to say that I think that I saw the 5 inch Super Poser of Knuckles at a TRU I went to recently.I have not been following Sonic news lately and I was surprised to see it,but I was skimming the shelves so I could be wrong.
Also, like many others,I would like to ask when the Comic Pack of Sonic and Metal Sonic will be released.I read on aaanime.com(I think thats how you spell it)that it will release on June 30th and it is avalible for Pre-Order on March 30th.And is 3 inch Super Sonic comfirmed,as with other Super forms?
I am very excited for these figures and I hope I made myself clear as I am not good with putting my words into a letter or comment.
Thank You for listening to the fans.

To everyone questing if Jazwares will ever make the Archie Comic characters as figures, that would probably be a big NO. Apart from Sonic and the official crew, all the others are comic specific characters, belong to Archie(and whomever thought them up for the cartoon) and SEGA doesn’t own them nor are there plans to make them official.
Anyway, my question is, for characters like Shadow, how do you get him to stand up so well with such huge quills and a small body?

Tails in his Tornado and Eggman is his machine would be nice as well for the racing line. FINALLY……WHY DID AMY NOT HAVE HER HAMMER?!?!?!?!? that kinda sucked. Oh yea, Charmy, e-123 Omega, Rouge, and Cream the rabbit and Cheese would be REALLY nnice in the 3″ line. THANKS.
