Infinite Space and Resonance of Fate launch today!Today brings us the arrival of two legendary RPG’s - Infinite Space and Resonance of Fate. Whether you’re on the road or sitting at home, we’ve got your RPG needs covered! Infinite SpaceInfinite Space is an RPG for the DS that is all about exploring the vast expanses of space, building your own ship, and finding and promoting your very own crew. Think of it sort of like Skies of Arcadia on the DS, with a more anime-styled feel and with even deeper ship and crew options.
The ship battles are also worth noting – you won’t just be fighting ship V ship, one at a time, the entire way through – you’ll actually be building entire fleets, and engaging in massive battles with a slew of ships on each side firing. The sheer amount of customization is massive, and for an RPG on the DS, we’re quite sure you’ll be impressed. Infinite Space, developed by Nudemaker, is also the third title to release from Platinum Games, who have previously worked on MadWorld and Bayonetta. So, if history is any indication, Infinite Space is already on the high quality runway – and those long road trips will never be boring again. While you’re waiting for the game to arrive, you can also check out a ton of info in our new Infinite Space Commander’s Guide! The tips and details here are crucial for any new Zero-G Dog, and I highly recommend checking it out. Speaking of things to check out, we’ve also just put live our launch trailer for the game – I’ve included it below! Resonance of Fate
You may have also heard of another legendary RPG Team known as Tri-Ace. Today also marks the launch of their latest game, Resonance of Fate, here in the US – and it’s one of the most entertaining and exciting console RPG’s I’ve played in a long time. Resonance is out on both the XBOX 360 and the PS3, and besides boasting a fantastic voice cast for the English track, we’ve also included the Japanese audio for those of you who’d prefer to listen to it in its original state. Win-win? We think so.
Resonance is a very cinematic RPG with a unique and entirely rewarding battle system, this time built on guns and not your generic swords and magic. It took me a few hours to really get into, but since then I’ve been exploring the depth of how the combat flows and how different items change battles entirely, and it’s quite a blast. I also love the dialogue, and the playful way the author and director chose to move the story forward. Oh, and check these out: As of today, we can reveal one very special piece of merchandise: A Resonance of Fate branded iPod Touch!
Stay tuned to the blogs for info on how to win of these in the near future! (Author’s note: I seriously wish I could steal one.) 2x the RPG goodness, 2x the swagWith both games coming out at once, we realize many people are probably wondering which of the two to pick up first. We’d like to go ahead and answer that question with a simple: Both of them. If you’re an RPG / Anime fan, these are two titles I’ll vouch for firsthand. (They’re that good.) To celebrate, let’s get some swag going out! This week on Free Stuff Friday we’ve got a ton of merch to give away, and right here on the blogs today we’re going to give away even more! Drop us a comment here letting us know which part of either game you’re most interested in, and you might score yourself a random bit of RPG swag to enjoy. We hope you guys enjoy both games – from exploring the reaches of space to the gear-like confines of Basel, these two RPG’s have it all - including soft serve Ice Cream.

Awesome Sega! I know RoF shipped today, so it wasn’t in stock at most stores yet, but I expect my copy to arrive by the end of the week. As for Infinite Space, I’ll be picked it up around Friday of this week. They both look great, whether it be tri-Ace X Sega or Platinum Games X Sega, they both did grand jobs on their games!

I’m really interested in Resonance of Fate’s combat. I value a unique and fun battle system in RPGs, and RoF seems to offer just that.

Infinite Space is a curious beast, to me. It’s a space adventure of mammoth proportions crammed into a DS cart, and it will be interesting to see how much depth will live within its confines.
Oh, and it cements the DS as this generation’s King of RPGs.

RoF! Super excited to pick it up tomorrow. What a great March has been Yakuza 3 and Resonance of Fate!!
I hope both sell well so we can keep getting great games like these in NA.
I am interested in RoF SRPG aspect I loved Valkyrie Chronicles and this looks to continue that great games footsteps.

Looking forward to both games. RoF has an awesome combat system that really brings a new life to the JRPG genre. Plus the game has Nolan North, you can’t ask for a better VA.
Infinite Space will be pretty good too. I read a few reviews about the game before, and I love the combat and the ship customizations. Will be pretty cool to spend hours making my ship.

Have Resonance of Fate preordered, so that iPod Touch would definitely go well with my new copy of the game this week
Definitely interested in Infinite Space too, but going to wait and see how reviews turn out.

As with every RPG/JRPG I show interest in, I’m expecting to find a rich, intriguing, and amazing story within these titles. And, considering past works, such as Valkyria Chronicles (which is still one of my top 5 games of all time, btw), I don’t think either game will let me down. I plan on picking them up just as soon as I get the chance, but homework comes first. :\
Another point I’d like to make is that GENUINELY GOOD DS games are few and far-between these days, can’t wait to find out if the action and story of I.S. can set the new standard!
With the people who worked on Bayonetta backing the game, I don’t doubt it, either.

Iw as pretty bummed out because I went to a few stores today and none of them had Resonance of Fate. I really wanted to get it because I played the japanese demo and the combat system was pretty fun and interesting. Hopefully by playing an english version, I’ll actually be able to learn a little more about what I was doing.
As for Infinite Space, I haven’t really been following it to much but I will get it for one simple reason: It’s by Platinum and I absolutely loved Madworld and Bayonetta.

As a big Star Ocean fan, I am definitely looking forward to Resonance of Fate. I mean take a look at the screen shot up there. I don’t know whats going on but it has something to do with shooting a tortoise and breaking gauges so that is definitely right up my alley. Infinite Space looking nice too. I mean you combine former Capcom employees with Sega and you need infinite space to contain that amount of awesome.

Pre-ordered RoF last week when I picked up Yakuza 3. I’m most interested in the customization. I heard you can create some insane weapons by attaching a tons of stuff to your guns, so I’m really looking forward to that. I also like that you can change each character’s clothing.

Sup.
I’ve been following RoF for a while, since I’ve seen the teaser site from Tri-Ace.
I love games from them and they’ve failed to impress many hardcore RPG gamers.
You know a game must be good if it held multitudes more of my interest than Final Fantasy XIII. I skipped over that release to get this game (because I’m a poor college student :[).
Anyway, I’ve been dying for a truly good RPG on the ps3 that had old school elements that have been missing for the longest time. I didn’t want a reinvention of the wheel.
I love JRPGs more than WRPGs because of the settings (scifi over mythological/orcs/goblins etc), characters (I’m a sucker for melodrama :p) turned based battle systems, and the overall aesthetics of the game.
I miss the days of traveling with a party , grinding and powering up characters for the next boss, learning new skills and moves, and seeing the story unfold.
I’m excited for this game because it’s hopefully a return to the golden days of RPGs (ps1 era). And so far from reviews, it won’t disappoint. Thank you Sega! I would right more but I’m in bed about to pass out, wish me luck on my nihongo test tomorrow! :p

I’m most excited about Resonance. I saw a video of the game in motion a while ago and the amount of stuff going on in the villages looked amazing. The amount of motion on screen just made me want to experience it. All those cogs moving and the camera panning about dynamically.
I’ll be checking Best Buy for it today.
Also, hooks me with that Pod! : )

After checking out Resonance of Fate at the event in Japantown, I am easily most excited about this game. Videos on the gaming websites do this game no justice. It’s a shame that there won’t be a demo available. SEGA would easily sell more copies if their were one. What I enjoyed most was the running gunplay. It looks like a freakin’ action movie when the characters do their acrobatics while shooting. It took a while to figure out, but once I did, the action got very intense. And I loved watching the producer play the game, and when he showed off the tri-Attack. Very Cool! And finally, when he showed off the unlockable funny costumes. Hilarious! I’ll be picking this game up at the end of the month when I get my paycheck. But for now, I’ll be playing some more Yakuza 3.

I’m mostly interested in how the story will unfold for both games.
Wasn’t able to find too much media on Infinite Space, but watching few trailers on Resonance of Fate – definately got my imagination going on what kind of story it would have!

I’ve been waiting for these 2 games for months. and they are out now. and i have no job! (im uncontrollably crying on the inside, but trying to stay strong)
i was interested when i heard about Infinite Space. but when someone brought up that it works like Skies of Arcadia, i was jumping for joy! SoA did NOT have enough ship to ship battles for the hunger it started [MORE GIGAS BATTLES!!](still alot tho). and the fact that it’s happening is space is ALL the better.
as for Resonance of Fate, tell me there is a Thompson gun available to fight with! PLEASE!!! tell me there is a Tommy gun!! i love that gun like most people love guitars. the mafia era of the 20s was cool and all (well, except for the people dying and the corruption), but that gun made it pop. and that i can change the character’s outfits is awesome. Zepher looks awesome in that green jacket. i loved it in PSU and cant wait for it here. and Basil look great. i love it’s architecture. i love this gritty looking Victorian-like world (i’ve now gone from crying uncontrollably inside to wailing uncontrollably about joblessness).
thank you SEGA for bringing these games here. thank you.

Been waiting for infinite space for a long time! Love deep customization in any game, even better with a space rpg! RoF I don’t know much about, hopefully it’s a decent one.. will have to look more into it, but guns are way cooler than swords and magic thats for sure!

I’ve been playing RPGs from Sega since Panzer Dragoon Saga and Skies of Arcadia, which are some of the most enthralling and memorable games I’ve ever played, period. Sega prides itself in releasing unique RPGs and Resonance of Fate is no different. I’ve preordered Resonance of Fate from buy.com and it is being shipped to my house today. I can’t wait to rip the plastic packaging off and pop the disc into the PS3!
