On these high seas, no one can hear you scream.
Today is a big day for us here at SEGA of America – and for aquatic wildlife across the world. Today we announce something that many of us have been waiting patiently for, our eager fins and flippers anxious. Today, we make it official – it’s time to reveal the North American-only exclusive sequel to one of the best-selling SEGA games ever not created: ECCO: WATER WARS 2! In the next chapter of the blockbuster ECCO: WATER WARS series, Ecco the Dolphin, now a master of time travel and innumerable other highly improbable porpoise plot devices, must lead his fellow Dolphins in a fight against all of humanity – including the elderly.
“You know, my mom told me that dolphins are like… like… some of the smartest creatures in the seas.” said Ecco fan x_X_x_SUPERMEGAECCOFAN1991_x_X_x on the SEGA forums. “Who says Dolphins can’t be smart enough to take human technology, improve it tenfold, and then use it against us in an epic fight for freedom? I know I can’t.”
And we can’t either. As the first F.P.S. (First Porpoise Shooter) ever on a console, ECCO: WATER WARS 2 sees Ecco trapped by humans and forced to perform tricks on a daily basis for pudgy, cash-bloated tourists and families. When his pod’s turf is infringed upon by lost Russian submarines searching for a legendary signed copy of SEGA BASS FISHING, Ecco has no choice but to break free of his captors, steal their own technology, and hurl those weapons back with him into the seas.
Dive into intense multiplayer action with up to eighteen-and-a-half other dolphins, and fire rockets as a team at unsuspecting fishing vessels and tourist-laden cruise ships. ‘Dolphin Hunting’ takes on a whole new meaning as Ecco and his friends gleefully sink ship after ship into the shining, forceful waters of the deep blue sea. “This game is totally even better than that one game with a similar name! … Er, well, I forget what the name is.” Commented Gil Rivers, a random person off of the street who was brought in for early focus testing. His completely professional opinion is proof that you not only need this game, but you actually needed it yesterday. Water you waiting for? Don’t clam up on this summer’s biggest FS blockbuster - E.C.C.O.: WATER WARS 2: So good we didn’t even need a first one. And remember:
In Soviet Russia, Dolphins hunt you.

Must have been hard as nails to strap those guns to the dolphins. How do they fire them, though? Ahh, they must use their telepathy, right? Right.

There were actually shooting sections in the first two Ecco games, actually. You would just use your sonar, though.
I really would like a new Ecco, and it better be a sequel to Tides of Time, not Defender of the Future or I will have to crack some skulls!

This was a pretty hard blow though, man. I mean, the likelihood of a real Ecco III based on the original series is much slimmer than Shenmue III.
Should have made a joke about Yakuza 3 getting a patch that would remove more content. Now THAT would have been a funny hoax! The reactions would have been priceless.

Great game btw, its like if ECCO was actually entertaining rather than just weird.

Haven we given Hollywood enough crappy ideas. Anyone remember hearing about the potential script for Jurassic Park 4, it was originally supposed to have dinosaurs with laser cannons strap to their backs. No wonder that movie never took off.
Though as a video game, first day purchase (need me some post apocalyptic dolphin warfare).

Ecco should be brought back in this “go green” and “climate change” charged phobia society. Or maybe a shark version of Ecco where you can engage in feeding frenzies, stalk prey using a shark’s natural abilities, and eat people while avoiding harpoons, nets and the like; wait this sounds like Grand Theft Auto in the water…. maybe I should call Rockstar

I heard some more news about this game. There is a really awesome recon level in Taiji. You help porpoise whale refugees escape murder by fishermen and their evil boss Private Space and his leader , Deputy Whaling Commissioner Joji Morishita. This will be such a fun “first person” experience.

Actually they did make a game like that. The same developers turned over Jaws Unleashed (rated M for Mature). Unfortunately, I can’t say it ended up on the same plane as DotF, but it had a few interesting things going for it regardless. At least they got the right people to do it.
Which brings me to my next point. I’d like to see Ecco jump as many sharks as possible.
