Day 2: Iron Man 2 at C2E2

Derrek rolls posters

Today started with a bang as the crowds descended on McCormick Place for C2E2. Today was a lot busier than yesterday, but that’s to be expected I suppose. Derrek (one of the brand managers for the game, pictured above) and I spent a lot of the day rolling and passing out Iron Man 2 game posters to eager fans. It’s great to give people a free gift to remember the game by.

I also got a chance to play that pinball machine that I showed you yesterday. It’s totally as fun as it looks. It’s been a long time since I played pinball, but it turns out that I’m still pretty good at it. There was always a line there to try it, and everyone seemed to be having fun.

Early in the afternoon, there was a Marvel costume contest in the booth. That’s where I met this female Iron Man and her homemade costume.

She was one of the winners and took home some cool Marvel-related prizes.

Later in the afternoon, it was time for the game demo on the main stage. BJ, one of the producers for the game, did the driving, while David, one of the brand managers for the game, did most of the talking.

David and BJ's Demo

That’s David on the left, and BJ on the right. They gave a 15 minute demo of the game, letting people know what they needed to about the game. They played both as Iron Man and War Machine, so people could see the difference between the two. They blew stuff up, they killed some big enemies, and made it through the laser maze alive. When the demo was done, posters for everyone!

Tomorrow is shaping up to be another busy day, even though the show ends a few hours early. We’ll all be there all day to show people the game and pass out posters. We’ve got another stage demo as well, probably around 3pm. We’re leaving for the airport to go back to San Francisco as soon as the show is over, so I may not be able to update the blog tomorrow night. But we’ll have photos and up-to-the-minute updates on our Twitter feed until then.
