Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Announced!Today, we’re announcing the comeback of 2 classic SEGA arcade games in one package — Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns, exclusively on the Wii this fall. Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns have been adapted from the original arcade machine games to make full use of the Wii controller. While interacting and shooting on the streets of New York and Los Angeles the Wii Zapper compatibility provides even more immersion for the players. Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack also contains new features such as the Chain Combo System which enables even higher scores, and the Unlockable Weapon Toggle which uses game ranking to unlock hidden extras such as wide shot, rapid fire and heavy shot. True to the original arcade games, Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns is set in the airspace above some of the United States’ most well-known locations. Players will be able to combat android invaders in New York City with their Gunblade helicopter gunship or take their flying gunship to battle a new force of android enemies in some of America’s most well known locales such as Los Angeles, Alcatraz, Yosemite and Las Vegas. Just in case you need a refresher on these games, see the video below.

I would like to see other Model 2/3 games on Wii, like Sega Super GT (Scud Race), Daytona, Motor Raid, Wave Runner…

So many great games and fantastic memories. SEGA needs to exploit their arcade IPs!
I would love to see more classic arcade titles bring grouped together and released on the Wii and more titles hit XBLA & PSN.

I’ve been plugging LA Machineguns since day one of my Harass Sega to Release More Classic Arcade Ports campaign, but I thought I’d be a geezer before it happened. So glad it happened now. Thanks Sega!
I would love to see more sort-of-old arcade titles come to Wii, including the Virtua Cop trilogy (which almost everybody mentions, because it totally should) and fighters like Virtual-On. Sega’s Golden Age may have began with Sonic, but I always felt it continued with the 3D titles of the ’90s. Here’s to more “Arcade Hits Packs”!
If I may, a couple questions:
1. Who’s developing the port? I’m curious.
2. Will it run at 60 fps? These are not only frantic games, they’re relatively old, and there’s no reason they shouldn’t run at top speed on Wii (though maybe I should dispute that with the programmers, who know infinitely more about it than me).
Whatever the answers, I’m buying this on day one!

Matter of fact, while you’re in the mood for porting Model 2 and Model 3 games to the Wii both at once, I’d better request Daytona USA 1 and 2. Call them Sega Racing Classic if you must (it still won’t be the same without the theme song), but the Wii’s in dire need of good racers and I was always a lil’ crushed that Daytona 2 never saw a console release.

This is great but The Lost World Arcade game seriously needs to be released for Wii, XBox 360, and/or PS3. I have been waiting for a way to play that game at home for over 12 years.

I’ll join the fray, but I got a short rant after that.
Sega, if you can retrieve the rights from Universal, you should definitely do it and get a Lost World compilation onto consoles, Wii especially. Keeping the game intact would be best, but just for the sake of living up to Jurassic Park — the film that sold CG to a lot of skeptics — a spiffy, hi-res “EX mode” wouldn’t hurt.
From my recollection of a previous playthrough of the game, the level design was nice and tense, the rescue missions broke up the action nicely, and a few cool set pieces predated those in Let’s Go Jungle — such as the bosses with segmented weak points and counting on your partner to bail you out of a dino’s jaws. Besides which, you get to shoot bloodthirsty DINOSAURS. The only game that comes close to replicating that awesome sensation on a console is Dino Stalker, and that’s all…well…ecch.
So, despite the bad name The Lost World Arcade’s source material gave Hollywood dinosaurs, my vote is in. You could even call it Jurassic Park Arcade Hits Pack, or whatever, to “un-date” it. Still, I can’t stress the relevance of the Gunblade franchise to the rail-shooter genre, and I wish people would hop on that bandwagon before ignoring it and requesting more goodies.
The frenzied pace of Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns would be enough to recommend this pack, but on top of that, there’s the seamless cinematography. It always drove me nuts that the characters/cameramen in HOTD2 and Vampire Night (which I love regardless) would stop dead at a wall, then turn and react to the peril behind them as slowly and awkwardly as possible. You could practically see the x- and z-coordinates painted where they were supposed to walk…and hear the mouse-powered workout wheels in their heads squeaking as they realized there was a boss battle happening. Conversely, with Gunblade’s cameramen riding speedy hoverbikes and not waiting for every single enemy to melt in a red puddle, you’re sucked into the action, chunky graphics be damned.
Sega hadn’t even dropped a hint that another light-gun compilation was on the way, let alone one this cool. Now that the ESRB has leaked — er, Sega has announced — the Gunblade pack, the lack of war whoops among fans has me worried for future compilations. C’mon, guys, give these games a shot!

Id buy everything sega will throw at me, regarding rail shooters of they are good high quality ports of the Arcade. I recently purchased a wii because of these games and want more of them. I completely agree with the Jurassic Park suggestion as well as House of the dead 1,4 and any others. Ive purchased 8 rail shooters in the past week including Gunblade/La Machineguns and will continue to do so.Virtua Cop 1 and 2. Please listen to your fans Sega. We will buy these games. I personally will buy every single one of these.
Especially cool if I can link up online and play with a buddy from separate locations. If that’s possible. Slight graphics bump here and there wouldn’t hurt keep the pace high and high frame rate. SOLD.
