Our last Q&A with Joe Amaro from Jazwares was so popular, that Joe agreed to do another! We recently took your questions, and we’re back with answers straight from Joe.
Phantom: Does Jazwares work from original concept art or does Sega provide the concepts? Does Sega have an approval process before the toys are shipped?
Joe: All of the Sonic characters are form the SEGA universe. SEGA approves everything.
Crystal: How do you decide which characters you put out on the lines?
Joe: I usually ask the fans, but we also try to make new figures for every new game coming out. Sometimes we talk to SEGA about it.

Sapphire: I really love all these figures. I usually get most of them when they come out. Will we be seeing more of some minor characters like Blaze, the Chaotix, Tikal, or others?
Joe: Yes, Blaze is on the way!
Jonathan Pattison: Hello there, I just wanted to ask you if you guys at Jazwares are planning to do a special set of Sonic and SEGA All-Star characters like Bonanza Bros, Nights, Samba Di Amigo? Cause that would be EX-CELLENTE!
Joe: Yes, AiAi, Amigo, and Beat are all going to join the small racers line.

Tenks: ARCHIE LICENSING FOR FIGURES. Be honest, what is the possibility here? I would think characters like Sally Acorn and co. could merit better sales then lesser known gaming characters.
Joe: Not now, but you never know!
SonicSpeed: Have you guys ever thought about ever creating Sonic Playsets of Green Hill Zone Like what you did with the Megaman series or even a cast of characters in a 5 inch line?
Joe: Playsets might be cool, but they are not in our plans right now.
Sonic the hedgehog: Ever consider making sonic toys that came with collectibles, like say, chaos emeralds? Maybe have Sonic, tails, knuckles, shadow, amy, rouge, and silver and have each come with a chaos emerald of a different color!
Joe: Yes, we are working on a Super Pack with all 7 Chaos Emeralds. Check out ToyFare # 156 in stores 6/9 for images of 3in Super Sonic and Super Shadow! Super Silver is still being worked on.
Matt (the Ultimate Sonic Fan): Ever consider making a line of super form toys that light up? Like a luminescent Super Sonic?
Joe: Great idea! That sounds cool.
Tenks: ARE ALL TWO-PACKS GOING TO INCLUDE A VARIANT OF SONIC? From what I heard the original Metal Sonic 3-inch was supposedly going to be packaged with Amy. Now instead Amy, like Metal Sonic, is going to be released with the THIRD Sonic toss-in to occur in the line. How many Sonics are we going to be getting here? I can understand stretching the line but this is getting a little silly.
Joe: Agreed, no more Sonics for a while now. Unless he is from a new game and has something new to him.
JShedgehog: Can you tell us any other characters that will be made in the 3 inch scale?
Joe: Vector, Espio, Blaze, and Charmy Bee, Eggman and Big with Froggy are next.
Lee: I know you love you’re see through/clear figures IS CHAOS 0 IN YOUR MINDS?? HE’D BE AWESOME!
Joe: I do love me some clear figures, no doubt!…You know so well 
Hypersonic1112: Maybe you should consider a dark super sonic action figure, I know I’d enjoy it!
Joe: Woo, that would be cool, especially because we have sculpt now for Super Sonic!

Aquaslash: Is there any chance we’ll see some of the more obscure classic characters like Metal Knuckles and Fang?
Joe: I want to, but some Sonic characters were not developed by SEGA of Japan, and those we do not have the rights to. I asked already about Metal Knuckles.
And you know who else I wanted to make but was told no? Metal Sonic 3.0.

Gamerman: Ever tried making bendable Sonic characters so they don’t break.
Joe: We have not done bendy figures, yet.
kid craft24: I was just curious as to how many 3.75 inch figures you guys are going to make? Are you planning on creating your own version of the sonic and shadow super posers like you did for knuckles? And lastly is a 10 inch sonic going to be created to go alongside the metal sonic figure or was that just an exclusive?
Joe: I want to make hundreds of 3.75 inch figures! We do have a 10” Sonic coming, as well as a Super Poser Tails.
Golfguy: Dear Mr. Amaro, I am 14 years old and I love your sonic the hedgehog figures, my favorites are silver, metal sonic, and shadow, and I can’t wait for Espio, Vector, and Super Sonic! I have a request: could you please make 3 inch figures of Chaos zero, Jet the hawk, and Omega? I am sure kids would like them, also these would be good for collectors. I also have a question will Espio, Vector, and Super Sonic be in 3 inch scale?
Joe: Yes, they will be in 3in scale. You will see Jet soon!
JShedgehog: Are there any more 5 inch figures planned?
Joe: Yes!

Aquaslash: It’s great that you guys are fixing all the figure errors, but why are they going out with errors in the first place? Why aren’t they being thoroughly tested for things like that?
Joe: Every item is independently safety tested and inspected, you can even find the reports on our website. If you ever have an issue please contact our customer service center and we will do everything to make it right!
Aquaslash: Any time frame on when the figures will hit stores like Wal Mart?
Joe: We keep asking Wal-Mart the same question…start a petition !
Lee: Ever a chance customers from all over the world can order directly from you guys on your site?
Joe: Not right now, we are not set up for that, sorry. But soon you will be able to find them on most on-line stores.
JShedgehog: What stores (OTHER THAN TOYS R US) are the figures sold in?
Joe: Transworld, Amazon, Hot Topic, specialty shops and local Comic Book stores.

Wow, I’m impressed. i love how this is going, so far, I can’t wait for Super Sonic, Super Shadow, Super Silver (YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), Big the Cat + Froggy (I’m so happy about that…!!), Jet the Hawk and Blaze the Cat (YAY!)!! I hope there will be Storm and Wave sometime later on. I’m glad that you might make Chaos 0 because he’s going to be awesome clear-through toy! Oh, characters like Metal Knuckles, Tails Doll, Fang, Mighty, and especially Bean the Dynamite won’t be made? That stinks, although that you and Sega don’t have rights to make them, could you and Sega go ahead and ask for premissions? Maybe you can just make money for them, or something, think about it over, we (fans) just want them! =]
Okay, my two questions:
Will there be Billy Hatcher toy, part of Sonic and SEGA All-stars Racing toys? (Since you didn’t really exactly say anything about him..!)
And will there be Cream the Rabbit + Cheese the Chao? Just like Big and Froggy, I think that could be really nice!!
Oh and, Joe… you are AWESOME. You are like fans’ great legend. Without you, a lot of fans will never get amazing best-made Sonic toys out there, I’m telling you, your Sonic toys is like designed from heaven, because it’s that amazing. KEEP THE EPIC WORK UP!! I am still going to buy every epic one of them! Especially Big/Froggy, Super Sonic/Shadow/Silver, Chao Emeralds, Vector, Jet, Charmy, woooow… too many amazing choices, but I don’t care, I’m going buy them all! GO JOE!

Jazwares has been totally awesome for the figures and I believe they are THE best thing to happen to happen to the Sonic figures. I hope they continue the totally awesome work that they have been doing. I can`t WAIT to get the other 3.75 inch figures, they are ridiculously awesome and I LOVE them! If other characters like Rouge and Jet are going to be in the line (I know I sent in a request e-mail for them and have been encouraging others to do the same), it`ll be even better. I love all the SegaSonic characters and would LOVE it if all the characters can be made into the same figure line. Sonic needs one of these! What about the human characters, besides Eggman? Like Gerald or Maria? Aiya, there are soooooo many characters I wanna see for this 3.75 inch line!

My questions:
1. Will you be making more Shadow The Hedgehog 3 in figures? Toy R’ Us never have them!
I was lucky enough to save $30 on finding the werehog figure :/
I’m also looking for Silver The Hedgehog.
Very hard to find and I cannot afford over $120 for 3 little figures…
2. Can you ask Target to sell them? I trust them more than Wal-Mart plus it’s an easy drive there. Not all of us can go to Toys ‘R Us everyday for those figures…
3. Would we be seeing Marine as well? Or at least the Coconut Crew? Also besides Jet, what about Wave and Storm? Also what about Fang/Nack?
4. Will you be making more Shadow The Hedgehog super posers? I never even knew you guys sell them and I don’t have $50 to get one online :/

You and Sega should totally ask owners of these characters including Metal Knuckles and ask if you could have premission to produce toys based on their characters? Make a deal with them, like, giving some money to them by how well toys is selling, you know?

Pls stop making new characters for sonic games! All games published after sonic adventure 2 are almost not comparable to the classic ones + 3d adventures.. you should rather change something on the storyline not on the characters..
its kinda you got a great band like the rolling stones (for example) and then later you add a second mick jagger in black or silver
thats simply not comaparable
i want to fight with sonic, tails, knuckles, amy, big or e-102 against dr. eggman and his chaos’s again!

Damn…thats soo cool you answered questions Joe! How many other toy companies do that? Not any as far as I know! No metal sonic 3.0? I wonder why not? They dont really have a great reason…but oh well haha. Itd just be a repaint. Ive said it else where but, Metal sonic needs some attention. 10 inch metal sonic, 5 inch werehog, 3 inch tails, and 3 inch metal sonic have had noticable problems. But, you take from mistakes and apply what you learn eh? So..man I cant wait to see more! Beat has a special place in my heart as a sega fan. Could we…..maybe see a ryo hazuki figure? PLEASE GIVE US A CONSISTENT PLACE TO FIND THESE FIGURES.
It might just be my crappy luck but I’ve checked Toys-R-Us locations from New York City NYC to Boston MA. As in ALL TRU LOCATIONS ON i-95. NONE of them had ANY figure releases from Wave 2. When I finally did stumble upon Werehog and Silver, they unexplainably had NO SHADOWS IN STOCK. I’m STILL trying to get my hands on that freaking 3-inch Shadow, and it appears I’m not the only one. So while I am totally and completely PUMPED for all the upcoming goodies from Jazwares’ Sonic Line, I’m also DREADING embarking on upon another figure-tracking crusade because I’m not sure when or where these figures will surface. Joe, can you please give us a definitive answer regarding when and where we can expect all the latest Sonic Figures to arrive? If Jazwares is still in talks with places like Target regarding stocking the figures, I understand, but can you just tell us, for now, where the figures will consistently be stocked? I know that would help me immensely. Toys-R-Us simply falls short in terms of being consistent with figure releases (can’t speak for everyone here but, from what I saw, the entire upstate New York all the way to Massechusetts area NEVER saw Wave 2 in any of the TRUs), so as a customer it would be really awesome to get the lowdown on where/when to be to grab the latest entries to this AMAZING line

Wow! Blaze, Jet and Charmy confirmed! Plus Shadow, and Silver and Sonic all in their super forms! Does this mean the rest of the Babylon Rogues (ie; Wave and Storm) are partialy confirmed too? Also, now we get to make the CHAOTIX!! in 3″ form!
I am incredibly happy at this news, however very disappointed and annoyed that Fang/Nack the weasel can’t be made due to “rights” problems… !!!!!!T_T, although the fact that Jazwares asked is amazing!! You guys really do listen to the fans – thank you!
I really can’t wait to see all these figures come out, and hopefully more and more and more, Rouge the bat? E-123 Omega? I just wish I could get these in Australia easier as eBay is expensive.

I’m going to admit, I’ve tried so hard to get these figures from Jazwares and my Toy R Us is always out I finally decided to quit about 6 months ago on even attempting to get a figure. I live in Columbia SC. But the only Toys R Us around never has any of your figures. I would like to get my hands on it, and I constantly called the store to ask if they had any in stock. Eventually employes became annoyed with me asking and calling so much. If you could help me out that would be nice.

I agree with others here when I say availability is key, the figures are amazing but we cant buy them if they’re not available, and plus we don’t have 60$ to be spending online for 1-2 figures that retail for 5$ usually…

I think a great idea for the Chao would be to sell them in blind packs of 3 or 4. Each one could have a different rarity and each in it’s own egg that would either crack open or dissolve in water so you really have no way of knowing which one you’re getting until you buy it and get it home. The rarest could be the character Chao, such as Sonic Chao.
Other than the ones confirmed, I would love to see a Cream & Cheese figure in 3 inch scale. Also I really hope that the future figures are more in scale. Tails looks a bit silly next to the others.

I live in california but there is no Toys R US where I live.Can you please ask any store other than Walmart,like Kmart,Walgreens,or Target?Because to get a sonic the hedgehog 3 inch figure or any other sonic jazwares merchandise,I have to drive 1-3 hours to get to the closest toys R US store next me.So can you at least ask one of the stores because I am a collector,and Ebay is not worth the money.

I love what you are doing with the Sonic toys, but could you try to make these toys not that hard to find. My Toys R Us never has any of the 3 inch figures. The only one they ever got in was the Knuckles and Clear Blue Sonic Comic pack. Could you get these in stores like Target and Wal-Mart because I can never find these awesome figures.

I already have a jazwares wishlist! I would like to see a 10 inch line with sonic tails knuckles and shadow. Also some 3 inch figures like mephiles in his crystal form, e-123 omega, e-102 gamma (and maybe more like zeta) and rouge. Last I would wanna
see a 5 inch line like the black knight figure. The line should include silver shadow knuckles tails eggman amy rouge and maybe omega. Man the list goes on and on! You guys make such great figures! Keep up the great work jazwares

You guys should think about making a Rouge the Bat plush. She’s very popular and some people have dreamed of owning one since they were like 8 or 9 (and most at 15-16 now and still really want one). It would be a good idea to make one of these… The ones on bidding sites are a rare find but when they are posted there are many bids and it, a 9 inch Rouge plush, sells for around $150.00! It would be nice if the fans could actually get a good quality Rouge plushie for a decent price…

I would also, however, :p like to ask, what with Archie comics being exclusively North American, will we see the previously released comic packs in Britian? Obviously Archie doesn’t have publishing rights in the UK, but I would like to get my hands on an Amy at some point!
Actually, as an equally important point, if SEGA will not allow figures not designed by the SEGA Japan team, does Sonic Chronicles fall within the accepted remit? Or at least variations on Gizoids? The game is ripe for figure expolitation, and it would be a huge shame otherwise!

Hey! I was just wondering if you guy’s have any plans on making Rouge the Bat? She’s far more popular than some of the other characters you guy’s have already made; like Silver. Well, she’s more of a main character than he is. Plus, she’s one of the only main females of the Sonic Game Series.

Oh, and also, there could be different attachments for those eggmobiles – say, for Sonic 1, you could have the Ball and Chain attachment – there could even be a clear base attached to them so it looks like their really flying!
…Maybe the base was a bit over the top, but the attachments are a really good idea! Please take this on board, Jazwares.

Have any tips on repairs for the action figures? My action figures had a little problem after my brother pushed over my shelf. My whole collection fell over and half were ruined. ;_;

I’m disapointed that they made Silver way before Blaze and she still hasn’t been made. Blaze came first and has a lot more fans!
When are they going to be making her? It’s been 7 months now and I still haven’t seen anything!
Now it was said Vector and Espio would be made, and now they’re officially action figures…why does it always take so long for my favorite character to come out? I still remember when I was a kid and it took forever for Knuckles to be made into a plushie.
If they don’t make her soon I’m just going to give up…I might even boycott Jazzwares because I’m upset that they still haven’t made Blaze when it was mentioned that she was going to be made. -_-

Okay. This was posted when? Last June!? I was extremely excited when I heard about Blaze, but c’mon, it’s been over A YEAR! I really love all of the Jazwares releases so far, but the waiting’s really starting to bother me. Every other character on this post, save Charmy, has already been released! Please, if nothing else, let it be a December release. Please?

Yeah I’m beginning to doubt that Blaze is getting released any time soon…I had my hopes up but after over a year…yeah….
Although that doesn’t mean I’m not going to keep bugging the dog-snot out of Jazwares until they do! And a plushie too. I want a Blaze action figure, Burning Blaze and a plush of each as well. o.o;

Okay I have been asking a ton of questions(sorry)and I have one in mind. I seen people on youtube.com make custume sonic figures. My favorite were Nazo, Perfect Nazo, Hyper Perfect Nazo, and the fusion of Sonic and Shadow Shadic(in hyper form).I was wondering if you guys can make it. Almost every single Sonic fan will buy it. If you want to know more about these charters look on youtube.com or Newgrounds.com. Search Nazo Unleashed it is really cool and might give you an idea on new figures.
