E3 2010 – we made it! You’ve probably seen the booth photos posted earlier and can see the presence that Vanquish has on the show floor – it really stands out and it is a major crowd pleaser. The feedback we’re getting from the floor is fantastic, there’s definitely a few ‘wow’ moments.

Vanquish is the next big game from Platinum Games and Shinji Mikami, a man that’s put together some of the best video games you’ve ever played. Vanquish is his take on the 3rd person cover shooter, but with a few twists. The game is fast- really fast. The trailers show this a bit between cuts, and it’s something most people are a bit taken aback by when they first play. Running at a clean 30 fps, Vanquish is a breath of fresh air to anyone who is bored with the slow moving cover to cover 3rd person shooter games out now. The show marks the first time that Vanquish has been seen outside of gameplay trailers and teasers with full hands on at the E3 show and the response has been fantastic.

The main difference with Vanquish is the mobility the battle suit offers, with quick dashes across the battle field and quick cover to cover mechanics that will catch you by surprise. You’ll need to move quick to navigate around and through the oncoming enemies, tanks, giant robots, and bullet fire streaming through the game. Additionally, you’ll find opportunities through use of the battle suit that slow down the action around the player, granting you a chance to take out larger groups of enemies that would normally cut you to pieces.

One big thank you to the good folks at Astro Gaming who hooked us up with some very sweet Vanquish headphones (pictured above)!  They look great and allow you to actually hear the game from the noisy E3 show floor.  Vanquish features some great 5.1 surround sound experiences and the headphones an excellent addition!
