Aliens vs Predator – Bughunt Map PackToday we are happy to announce that the second downloadable content pack for Aliens vs Predator is heading to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Steam for PC. This newly designed Map Pack, entitled Bughunt, includes four brand new maps split between Survivor and Multiplayer offerings. For the first time, these new maps will include environmental hazards and new weather effects. Bughunt will be available for purchase on July 7th. Crashsite – MultiplayerCrashsite is an outdoors map placing up to 18 players in a Jungle swamp – dominated by a crashed drop ship. Radiating away from the swamp is a waterfall overlooking an expansive vista, which is part of a large “ring” of playable area that surrounds the central swamp, with connecting spokes to aid player movement through the map. Predators are forced to consider how they move throughout the map, as the “swamp” environment leaves a lot of water pooled on the ground – perfect for removing the cloak and requiring predators to always consider their routes carefully. Marines have wide open fields of fire, and plenty of areas to back in to a corner – however with multiple entrances/exits to any area and expansive use of trees around the map, their opponents could be coming from anywhere, at any time. Aliens are confronted with a wealth of areas and places in which to initiate the perfect ambush. From cave system choke points, to tree top perches, there is never a shortage of places to pounce upon unsuspecting prey. Furious – MultiplayerFurious is an arena style map placing up to 12 players in a central cylinder shaped area dominated by a huge active furnace in the middle. Predator players have ample space in which to traverse the map, and hunt other players from the myriad of vantage points offered by a network of interlaced pathways and beams across the roof of the dome. Marine players must navigate the available paths to the top of the furnace, where they find ample weapon supplies but are restricted in the available space in which they can fight – and must also contend with the random eruptions that eject from the furnace, which will fry any hapless human who happens to be in its path. Fighting at the bottom of the furnace, removes the peril of a long fall and allows superior freedom of movement, but at the cost of reduced firepower. Alien players have the freedom of a Cylinder shaped map, which allows them to crawl up any wall to reach the top, and pounce upon any camping Predator, or unwary Marine. Monument – Survivor MapMonument is an outdoor map set on BG-386 in a previously unseen Monument area to the deceased Predator Lord. With geometry purpose built to suit Alien navigation, Monument provides a challenge to players who are already familiar with Survivor. Aliens can appear from any direction, and if the player stands still for too long they become vulnerable to the Jungle Alien “spitters” who are present in this level. Tempest – Survivor MapTempest is an outdoor map which places players in the BG-386 Colony area on a dark and stormy night. In addition to the never ending Alien swarm, players must also contend with their environment. A constant rainstorm batters the colony, with intermittent flashes of lightning illuminating the environment to show the Marines attackers bearing down on him. After each wave is completed, the fog rolls in for the start of the next one as ghostly shapes begin to stalk the player. Players can prove their skills on the killing grounds of BG-386 on 7th July 2010.

Are there any plans for more urgent patches – resolving matchmaking etc? It’s almost impossible to find muliplayer games online?
Fantastic new content btw – but more urgent issues need attention

Nothing I can discuss at length, but patches are being prepared for both PS3 and Xbox 360. PC just had a patch go out a few days ago. We’ll have more information on it once I get patch notes, a confirmed date, or a combination of the two.

Yes the map packs look cool. It’s too little too late, though. I understand the map pack’s release is meant to coincide with the release of Predators, but nobody plays this game anymore except for the hardcore fans. I’ve played the other DLC levels no more than once a piece b/c nobody bought them. And wasn’t I able to play them until they were released to the public since I’m apparently one of five people that bought the insanely overpriced Hunter’s edition. So I’ll waste my $7 next week for a map pack I’ll never get to play unless I play unranked. Which may not be a bad idea since my XP points NEVER update no matter how long I’ve been playing ranked. If they offered matchmaking exactly like friendly matches the game would get a lot more play. But there is no way that would happen. I have to face the fact that I got screwed out of $107. Hope colonial marines is way better. Get the people who did the 2nd avp pc game & you’ll have a serious game on your hands.

Yeah if the PS3 and 360 versions get patches, a price drop, and another map pack after this one, AVP has the potential to really pick up a bit in sales again.

As other’s have already mentioned releasing maps (no matter how good) when what the game really needs more than anything is another patch/update is just plain daft.
Fix the game first then release more DLC, as usual you’ve got things the wrong way round SEGA.
I also don’t think this “1″ extra map pack will be anywhere near enough on it’s own to get enough people back playing the game, we badly need more DLC than this, some new SKINS to unlock would please a lot of people, and how about a map pack based on locations from the Alien & Predator films?
Also some single player story DLC would be a great idea and how about some new online modes? these are the sort of things that could really excite people enough to make them pick up the game again.

dlc is cool but need more maps 2 for co-op and 2 for vs isnt enough.if there were another 4 included in the price it would be cool.as the game feels rushed its a good game but lacks longetivity to keep people playing also short on game modes.a guardian mode and a capture the queen mode for preds and kill the queen for marines would be cool as u could face of against waves of aliens untill the queen is dead or captured also not enough skins to keep interest get another 5 or 6 skins for each race and an update to unlock the bonus skins recieved with the pre order as the map pack with the hunter edition went on sale after so the skins should to aswell as new skins for dlc

Very cool these new maps would be great but also make available the skins of female marines. Maps based on original films of the alien and the predator would be great too!

avp would be good if it gets a patch and new dlc.i dont have any problems finding matches but new online modes would be very welcome as its got far to repetative.what about a capture the queen mode for predators or a guardian mode stuff like that would have people back or give us more places in survivour mode so we have a bit of freedom and make objectives like get to the dropship to get off the planet or kill the queen at the end it could be like a mini story as to many people want aliens colonial marines as i am 1 of those people this game needs to keep us interested for a bit longer until gearbox’s game finaly comes out

What this game needs is a sequel with more of everything. And screw having to gain energy for every little thing you do when you’re the predator. That’s so lame! The coolest character in the game is being hampered by the fact that you can only use his damn laser on full power only twice! And why the hell does he become uncloaked after doing anything? In what movie does the predator become visible after attacking or using any kind of ability? Sorry. I just played the game fot the fist time recently and am just voicing my opinion on a game that could’ve been way better. And, the developers could have at least put in a cheat code that could’ve given infinite ammo and energy after you’re done beating the game. As sparse as the energy is for the predator is and the ammo for the best weapon in the game is, the smartgun, I figured that’d be a no-brainer. Longer story. More ammo. More of evverything for the predator including the ability to see in different spectrums like in Predator 2. It was a good game and Sega got my money and they’ll get it again if they make at least most of these changes.

cmon sega get rebellion to make more dlc for this game it needs new game modes and some new skins for god sake cmon this game could have potential to be big but as it stands the online is lacking as there are only a couple of modes it needs a guardian mode or an objective based update for survivour as it does get a bit boring some times.as it stands at the moment it needs new achievements as i believe that could be one reason why some people have abandoned it when they get what they want they just stop playing so get some new ones in there.i thought this game would keep me happy until aliens colonial marines comes out but it turns out it does not have enough to keep lots of gamers busy

Maybe Sega should have hired Monolith Productions the makers of AVP2 (which was the best of the series) to make this game.

i couldnt agree more why they chose a company that hasnt made a decent game for years is beyond me i thought they would have gone with a company that makes decent fps style games like epic or monolith.rebellion were good years ago but that was then.cmon sega do something ur holding off aliens colonial marines which from gearbox will make loads of cash and make avp a distant memory thats what is needed now more than anything they say they are very intouch with the console comunity prove it sega give us what we want now we have waited scince what 2006 u cant tell me that aliens colonial marines isnt nearly finnished if not u shouldnt be talking about it untill its nearly due to be released putting false hopes to ur fans and then again what do u do delay for a year then oh god u delay it again untill 2011 then the vice presedent says he never said it would come out in 2011 what crap are u trying to do to us sega

i just played AvP for the first time its awesome the story mode was really good and multiplayer is right up there with the best. could use some better multiplayer modes and dlc but all in all its great cant wait for a sequal maybe add some vehicles for the marines to even the playing field maybe them marine apcs and drop ships or at the very least some auto turrets to place wherever and why wasnt being a android an option they play a big part in the story too and if a sequel is made maybe a co-op story mode and let us control the face huggers maybe thats how the aliens should start then they have to evolve into a deadly creature instaed of starting off so dangerous just some thoughts. thanks for the great game
