C’mon people…. Stop wishing for a Shadow appartion, NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!! And that’s a good thing!

Why do you like this lame excuse of a character? He’s totally useless, he’s not different from Sonic, so he would bring nothing new to the game. And his “dark” story would feel so out of place in this “Color”ful environement. Oh, and… he’s L-A-M-E. There, I said it.

SEGA finally understood that for Sonic to be good, his universe needs to be bright, fun and happy. Didyou realise that ever since Sonic was in a “real” universe, with a “real” Story, and “real” drama, ala Shadow, with his “tragic Story”, sonic games are BAD. But Even if Unleashed was very flawed, it was better than Sonic “06, Shadow the hedgehog, or any “book” games.

Let this black insignificant character die, already.

Yeah, I’m a shadow fangirl…BUT, I Don’t think Shadow should be in THIS game.
I love him as much as the next fangirl….but not yet.

I say wait. Wait until they get the formula right. and once they have the hang of it….THEN we can talk additional characters and Major storylines. (Like Knuckles, Amy, Shadow and rouge etc…)

I’m not gonna bash other games and say they were “Bad” but I WILL say, they needed a lil something…more. or maybe a little something…Less. XD

@Philippe – How old are you? 6,8,9? Shadow pleases OLDER fans. And, what kind of “fan” are you to trash one of the best characters in the series like that?! So he is NOT LAME, as a matter of fact, YOU are the only person I know who doesn’t like Shadow. And he’s different than Sonic! He can teleport, use chaos powers and more! And Sonic doesn’t suit the whole “Bright and colorful” environment. Sonic is the cool video game character that always has an Awesome Story! That’s what I love about Sonic! Shadow is seriously the worst thing to EVER happen to the Sonic World…no wait, lemme rephrase that. The *RESURRECTION* of Shadow was the worst thing to EVER come out of the Sonic World, and if this game is to save face, have it be Sonic, Tails, Eggman/Robotnik and MAYBE Knuckles. Kids, Shadow served out his usefulness and purpose in Sonic Adventure 2, and that’s the way it should stay. The only reason people think he’s cool is because he’s black and red and “dark”. Personality wise, he’s just an official Mary Sue (or Gary Stu, because derp, he’s male), and overall uninteresting because he’s too “perfect”. So Please…NO. SHADOW. Okay? Thanks. Also:

The fact is, he is lame, and like it or not, SEGA is putting Sonic on the right track, by bringing him back to his origin, a fun-based game with platforming as the main element, not the FRIGGIN Story!!!

So, to all you who LOVES Shadow, be mercifull that SEGA did’nt ax him yet… it’s a matter of time. Some time, it’s time to cut in the crisco. and Shadow everything that made the Sonic franchise morbidly obese (too many characters, to much story, too much attitude, too much bestiallity -àlà Sonic ’06-). First off, comment 56 is genius! Second, there’s no point to arguing about Shadow. One of the things that makes the series so great, is that there is a fan base for EVERY character they make (personally I’m under the Sonic fan base). I really don’t see the point in arguing about Shadow. I say we let Sega do what they’re gonna do and enjoy the game because it’s gonna be fun!

So stop arguing and go mark your callenders for Sonic Colors!

Sonic Colors is Terrific! Everything is perfect . I just hope there is multiplayer in this game. Congrats Sega in making 2010 a very Sussesful year in Sonic games. First Sonic and Sega All-stars racing,Sonic Colors,Sonic the hedgehog 4,and finally Sonic free riders.All great titles except im kinda upset that Sonic free riders is only for x-box 360 kinect. I wish you guys could of made Wii as well so i can have all 3 Sonic riders . I love the series . I’m not getting the third because i dont own a 360 because im tired of all the problems with it. Also to the people who hate Shadow keep your thoughts to yourselves because the rest of us dont want to hear it. The SSS hedgehog rules i love Sonic ,Shadow,and Silver and ever character. I love ever Sonic game ever made. I loved Sonic 06 it was one of the best. I just didnt like the loading thats it. Also please bring more of Shadow and Rouge into main stories. I think Rouge is the best female characters. lasr game she was playable was Sonic riders Zero gravity. And last but not least bring back Chao all your fans miss them they were so much fun.

To be honest with you, I get a Sonic game because pure and simple it has Sonic, or a Sonic related character, in it; I don’t care about what the gameplay is as long as it’s fun, I’ll admit though Big’s fishing could get frustrating.

Also, those that say those that don’t like Shadow are 4 or so should cool it because it would actually be the 7, 8, 9, etc. year olds that like Shadow more because he was a recent addition and would make sense for them to like him. Just like it makes since for those that grew up with the Genesis to mostly not like him; it all about what you grew up with. I’m one few Genesis-era Sonic fans that actully liked most of Sonic’s 3D outings and characters; I’m the minority not the majority.

OMG! Sonic Colours is gonna be great! the wii gameplay is simular to sonic unleashed and the ds gameplay is simular to sonic rush 1 and 2, i have suggestions for additional characters. Knuckles, Shadow, Blaze, Silver, Team Chaotix, Rouge, Omega, Tails (If he isn’t in the game already) and all super versions of them selves

They don’t need a new story but the super forms will rock! and in super form the even have fighting combos and face of against Mecha Sonic also in a super form.

Anyway, most older fans dont like the emo hedgehog (y’know the ones over 10). He is way to perfect and took the fiction out of Sonic. He made it feel more real than what it was. Ok, I’m gonna put an end to the shadow war right here right now.
I’m not going to sugar coat it, this is pathetic people! You are arguing over a FICTIONAL Character people! In your world he doesn’t exist!
Personally, I like shadow, he’s a cool character with a really cool backstory,
But they made the end of shadow the hedgehog the way it was because they wanted give him a fresh start.
Now there are a couple of good points here… Someone on here said that bringing shadow back was a bad thing and that the only decent game he’s been in was his first one SA2, but that is just an opinion.
Some liked Shadow the Hedgehog, Some liked sonic Heroes, Some even liked sonic 06 (bleh). But shadow is not a useless character he’s just a regular character now that his backstory has been explained and his past put behind him.
SEGA even gave him a job, He’s a GUN agent now and it’s completely possible that he could end up in Sonic Colors as an agent investigating the theme park!

So good or bad, it’s all in the eye of the beholder if shadow ends up in this game, and besides the way cool blue dude with ‘tude is gonna be the only playable character so don’t stress it! It’s most likely he’ll only make a side appearance to appease the fanboys who wanted him in Unleashed!

So don’t stress it, theis game’s gonna be way past cool with or without Shadow.

Geez… people… C’mon!!! Why, WHY do you want to include every single charaters in every single games? Can you honestly keep up with who’s who, and who’s doing what, for what reason? For example, Rouge the bat (Dear God Ihate this character) What’s her purpose in the whole Sonic universe??? In SA2, she was clearly there to be a female knuckles, to do the same boring levels as Knuckles, with nothing new to add to the formula. Her story was pretty lame, she did’nt have any particular move that distinguished her from Knuckles. It goes the same for any Characters, all the original has an axact carbon copy… with different colors (woooooh):

Sonic = Shadow = Blaze
Knuckles = Rouge
Tails = Robotnik
Silver = Unique but lame…. but at least they tried something new with him

My point is, why do you feel the need to play a game twice, with two characters that are clearly identical, its just a lame excuse for SEGA to make their games last longer. Instead of trying to innovate, they just repeat the game. Its a cheap way to make the game longer.

And don’t tell me that every characters has a good story to back them up, because they don’t. Again, it feels like they rushed a story into the game to justify the addition of (not so) new characters.

So, In Sonic Colors, It’s great that Sonic is alone, because we will focus on one thing, Sonic. They won’t dilude the end product with other characters just to please a certain fan base. You either try to please eveyone and give us crap like Sonic 06, or you focus on making a good game and live with some whinning brats (the minority).

Oh and… its not because Shadow is black and has a “dark” story that it makes him a more mature character. It just makes him annoying. He’s just there to please some emo teens that thinks they know everything. If you want a serious game, DON’T PLAY SONIC!!! He was never meant to be Serious, or dark, or whatever!!!

It really doesn’t matter who likes or dislikes shadow! I Know a lot of people Who love him, Plenty of People who hate his GUTS and a fair amount of people who think he’s just OK.

And ultimately it’s not really up to you two to decide what happens over at Sega, all you can do is try and influence in the best way you can!

So, Way past Cool or Way past Drool, Shadow can be recieved in many ways, Old school fans may not like him so much, New ones may think he’s the best, So let’s agree to disagree over this whole thing, Okay Guys?

Well, for my part I realised that I was arguing on insignificant details, teh important thing is that we all wish the best for Sonic. The only thing we must ALL (the Sonic fans) excpet from SEGA is nothing less than excellence. Witch we can agree that was lacking in the past games. Sorry SEGA.. you know I’m right.

I made a comment about Mario and Luigi, saying that they both control sligthly different one from the other, and that its a good thing to twist a little bit the gameplay in subtle wayis like this. And that’s what I would have liked in recent Sonic games. Like the old games, Sonic had limited abilities, other than running, Tails could fly and Knuckles could climb walls and open new roads. Now that was inspired gameplay. SEGA clealry made a effort to give us some replay value for our game, at the time. Now, today, what did we get in the last games? Sonic and Shadow playing the same levels the same way, Knuckles and Rouge also, and Robotnik and Tails too (well, in SA2). Where’S the innovation here? That’S my main beef

I guess I wouldnt mind Shadow or Rouge (heck, any character after 1999) if they all had unique capabilities, subtle as they may be! (Again, Mario and Luigi in Mario Galaxy). But I feel SEGA’s been lasy cashing easy money out of our love for Sonic.

Maybe I look at the problem the wrong way, but Shadow SHOULD be awesome, I should LOVE the guy.. but I cant (I have to confess.. I only played with him in SA2 on Dreamcast… that’s when my love for Sonic started to faid away… and I had an appartement to pay too… so games were a “delicacy”)

Anyway, I don’t think SEGA’s doing it right, releasing 2-3 Sonic games a year, I know their always top sellers… but please, make us wait, make us drool, be secretive about Sonic! Show us that you care about the blue guy! Give him a break! Take your time to make a game as good as it can get! Sonic 4’s a good exemple, release your games WHEN they are ready! And don’t be afraid to postpone their release dates! No more Sonic “06!

Oh one more thing about Shadow… I think what insulted me the most was that when they released Shadow on gamecube (and others)…. they didnt re-invet the concept!! It controled EXACTLY like Regular Sonic, but with a gun AND NO PROPER WAY TO AIM!!! This was lasy!

I am SO looking forward to this game. I’m going to be playing so much Sonic this year. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, Sonic Colors (both Wii and DS) and Sonic Adventure for XBOX Live. I can’t wait! I’m happy that 2010 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for Sonic.

btw Sega, when are you guys going to release audio clips of the new voice actors in the game? I’m dying to hear what the characters sounds like

It will come as no suprise from myself, but I actually think it would be a very cool addition to add a Chao/Wips garden. It would add some variety to the game. Would be way better than the lame excuses that were the mini-games in Secret rings and Black Knight.

I did’nt play in the gardens in SA1 & 2 a lot (to be honest, I’m not a fan of all things “Pokemon” yet I see its appeal and I can undestant the love people have for these kind of things.

One thing bothers me though. SEGA said in an nterview this week that Sonic Colors will be more for kids than others… I certainly hope I did’nt understant correctly. If its true, well they are totally missing the point of what is Sonic.

Do SEGA even Remember what was Sonic on Genesis all about? It had cute graphics to appeal the younger of age, yet the game and challenges evolved with the gamer the more and more he played. You needed truly masterful skills to find every thing in those Sonic games, yet, the game seemed very simple on the surface. Thats what those games (like Mario) were all about. Subtle little things that made the game great for all ages.

So if Colors is just for kids,it means that you wont have many challenges, you won’t have that big of a leap in difficulty the further you advance in the game… very sad.

Remember Sonic 1, when you cleared Green hill Zone, you then were transported to the Marble garden…. WOW what a different take on how to play Sonic! Now, not only did Sonic’ speed play against him, you had to push boxes into lava and use them as boats… and try to survive every thing the game throws at you, while waiting on a FRIGGIN’ boxe!! And remember those secret passages? you HAD to be very clever to find them.

So what I mean, is that for me, this is what Sonic should be all about. Challenge and diversity. In recent Sonic games, they gave us pretty much the same expirience over and over again…

-Snowboard sections (that are not that fun… for me)
-On rail grinding (way too common now)
-forced 3D view (Like Secret ring, Black knight and even Unleashed AND Colors… think about it, they all play a bit the same, except for the 2D parts in the later games.. but I miss the free 3D environnement of SA1 & 2… even if the camera was REALLY flawed)

Ayway.. I’ll stop my whinning for now… What I want to say is that I hope the game will give us a great challenge and real fun, and a chance to explore the levels, and not only run from point A to poin B in the most linear way possible…

Thanks! I have to say, though, you were right too when you said grinding was fun in SA2 (if I remember correclty, it was introduced in SA2) but now, likeyou said, its the main focus, like an easy way to “wow” the audience.

Anyway, I have to apologize, because I always write wa too long posts. I have a hard time saying what I think in english, being french and all, so I take looooong detours.

Back on the subject, yeah, the flawed camera did’nt ruin SA 1 & 2, you just had to ajust to the way things were going. AAahh.. I miss those days. When I had my VMU and I battled people at school with my tiny Chao angainst their own Chaos.

So yeah, Sonic Colors looks pretty fun,even if its aimed at kids. I just watched youtube clips and there seems to be a lot of platforming bits, and the game seems to encourage you to stop for a second, look around and try to find some secrets. GOOD!!! I also love the power ups, the drilling thing seems cool!

I’m more excited about this than Sonic4…. am I the only one?

Hey phillipe, long time no see!
I just wanted to comment on something since youbrought the snowboarding thing up.

Snow boarding in sonic games has almost been ESSENTIAL since sonic 3, and personally I loved allmost all of the snowboarding sequences in games! (I kept sitting there hoping for a snowboarding sequence in unleashed… but i was let down big time.)

I personally hope for a snowboarding level in colors or sonic 4, because iit’s just something sonic games have had going for them since 1994!

BTW, I’m glad you guys quit fighting, it takes a lot of guts spunk and moxie to put aside your differences and get along so well!
Remember we’re all friends here, all fans, all gamers! So even if we disagree on some points in the games… we all love one thing, ME! XD

The game is aimed at a younger audience but I remember in one of the interviews at sega-addicts that the game is something both the younger and older fans can enjoy and it gets more challenging in the later stages. I don’t really care that the game is aimed for a younger audience as long as the game is fun. Just like the Shadow the Hedgehog game suppose to be aimed at the ‘older’ with all the swearing, guns and all that other nonsense.

Oh well, I’m a hardcore Sonic fan. I don’t mind it being for kids(if you mean by 7-10), but I would mind Sonic games (like Shadow the Hedgehog) swearing. But I doubt there will be anymore though.

I don’t mind if Colors is more of a ‘pick up and play’ type game. Recent games like Unleashed and Secret Rings I have to play the games all the way from the beginning or do the tutorials so I can get used to the controls and everything again. I would like to play those games again but they’re not those type of games where I can still play good for somebody who haven’t played those games for over a year or so.

You got your wish with Shadow and Sonic’s 2006 ‘epic/cool’ storyline and the storyline sucked for those games. I guess Sega learned their lesson that’s not the direction they want to take the series. It might’ve worked with SA2, being the first game that actually has that ‘serious’ storyline but SA2 wasn’t completely serious and it also has some humor. Every other attempts that Sega made to make the storylines more ‘epic’ and ‘serious’ has failed.

So, Sonic 4 was delayed for this? Don’t get me wrong, I think Sonic Colors looks way past cool (LOL, where have you heard that before? :)) but Sonic 4 seems even more exciting, because it’s like the franchise is going back in time to the Genesis era. I wasn’t around during that time, so this is my chance to see what the classic games were actually like…well, minus the whole 16-bit deal. An option to go totally 16-bit would be cool, though. Okay, now I’m just lecturing. Back on topic, Sonic Colors looks amazing and I can’t wait for it to come out! It’s amazing how there’ll be lots of changes like new voice actors, graphics brighter than any video game I’ve seen (except maybe New Super Mario Bros. Wii,) and both 2D and 3D all in one game! It’s good to actually see an original game. In case you’re wondering what I’m talking about, I mean that SATBK ripped off the Zelda series, ASR was a total rip-off of Mario Kart, and SATSR ripped off the Arabian Nights. Ugh, lecturing again! *facepalm* Final verdict: I’m getting really excited about Sonic Colors. It’s good to see that the game will be released before Thanksgiving. Then I can say that I’m thankful for this game, even though everybody else at dinner will just think I’m weird.

Yes they were. The storyline to Sonic ’06 is confusing and laughable cause the story takes itself WAY too seriously. I can’t even get into the whole “Iblis Trigger” mess that the game throws at you. Shadow the Hedgehog’s story is boring and I can’t even get into it either. You have to beat the game 11 times to get the real endiing
