Valkyria Chronicles II Community BLiTZ – Day VIII: Azure FlamesEveryone who played the original Valkyria Chronicles knows that having a Valkyria on the battlefield is awesome – just as long as they’re on your side. As Day VIII arrives, we’re taking a look at the Valkyria of old and new, including a mysterious young girl named Aliasse who wields a shield in one hand and a whip in the other. More special thanks, yesterday’s winners, and a rare Selvaria figurine are all lined up for the evening! Community BLiTZ – Day VIII: Azure FlamesHistory across Europa teaches that the Darcsens, cruel rulers of times past, once controlled all of the continent and treated the people unjustly. Until the Valkyrur came, that is – liberating Europa from the Darcsens and rescuing all those under their rule. Until recently, it was commonly thought that House Randgriz was one of the few final homes of the Valkyrian bloodline. For their crimes, the Darcsens were stripped of their last names, and the Valkyrur quickly rose to power. How much of the story is a myth and how much is fact, well… that depends on who you ask. But there is one point that remains true, even to this day: history is always written by the victor. There are rumors going around about a number of countries experimenting with secret projects to ‘create’ artificial Valkyrur, but most of these are unsubstantiated. However, the recent appearance of more than one Valkyria after so many years of only legends does raise interesting questions…
If there was one mission that everyone had trouble with in the original Valkyria Chronicles, it was Chapter 7. Just when you finally think you’ve finally taken down that monster of a behemoth that Maximilian calls a Tank, in comes Selvaria, blue flames aglow, and lance at the ready. It’s an important moment in the game, because for the first time yet, you finally come up against something that is so completely overpowering that you feel totally helpless. Even with the best strategy, and even with far more leveled troops, nothing can stand against her. For once, you’re forced to realize that retreating is the only option, and that sometimes, you have to lose some smaller battles to win the big ones later.
Meet Aliasse. Keep her happy, and she’s your best friend. Just don’t make her angry. Valkyria Chronicles II introduces a new heir to the flame, and her name is Aliasse. Unlike most Valkyria spoken of in legend, she bears a shield and a whip instead of a shield and a lance. Little is known about her personality or her background, but some claim to have seen her wandering quietly around the campus at Lanseal. The favor of the Valkyrur can be a powerful ally, but likewise, sometimes dangerously volatile. The difference between a person and a weapon is sometimes purely a matter of perspective… That’s all the detail of the Valkyrur that we can reveal today, but we leave you with one warning: there are reports that the rebel army may be attempting their own mimicry of the Valkyria’s powers, so stay vigilant for anything with the code name “V2″… New Story TrailerA brand new Story Trailer also went live this week – you can check it out above! Once you’ve got your fill of Valkyria videos for the day, check out what’s next for today’s big giveaway… Special ThanksToday’s Special Thanks go to Segabits, a cool SEGA Fansite that know what they’re talking about and are also made up of a lot of SEGA and Valkyria fans who loved the first game. Oh I desperately wanted this from the FSF that Sega has… and here’s another chance! DO WANT!
I’d have to say Selvaria… she seems much more sophisticated and not as childish as Aliasse who might end up taking careless actions quickly leading to her demise in battle.
But what do I know, I haven’t played the game yet. Only 6 more days to go!

Aliasse may think she’s all big and bad because she’s the new gal on the block, but she’s got some large cups, er, shoes to fill. Selvaria is the queen of cool, hands down and would beat Aliasse into the ground.

My vote goes to Selvaria, because she seems older, therefore, she would have more experience wielding the power of the Valkyrur . Also, Selvaria is a badass! A cute, sexy, lance wielding badass!

I think Alicia would win in the battle but only as an unconscious valkyria. She seems stronger than Selvaria in that state. She is also prettier.

Selvaria not only has the powers of a Valkyria, but also the wealth of experience and knowledge as a general. She seems more than capable to defeat Aliasse, but alas, I don’t know as much about her as I do Selvaria! Still, I stand by Selvaria!

That’s a really tough question. Selvaria or Aliasse? I’d lean towards Selvaria’s combat discipline being her greatest asset whether it be a fight as Valkyria, or two young women with firearms or in hand-to-hand and blade-to-blade, plus her body size being more advantageous in any situation except with firearms.

Selvaria would win without a doubt, she is extremely powerful and intelligent.
Aliasse on the other hand, is as described above, volatile which means her emotions can be easily swayed or changed, this would not be good for the on the battlefield.

I think Selvaria would win easily in her state in VC1 but think she’d be a lot more formidable if she trained a bit more over the years and I think if something developed more between her and Johann (instead of Maximilian just using her).

I love Selvaria, but I think I might give the edge to Aliasse. With the whip she could have a much larger reach than a simple lance. But what about the firing projectiles of the lance?
That takes time to charge, whipping takes but a second.

The way Aliasse fights with a unbridled wildness and lack of technique would still make it hard for experienced fighters to counter. However since it’s Selvaria, she would easily find a way to subdue rabbit ears. :3

Selvaria, because she’s a lot more calm and collected. She follows orders thoroughly, like a soldier should even at the cost of her… ;____;. So if ordered to kill her I think she’d follow through with it and make sure she’d win.

A follow through to my other comment. In an actual fight I’d believe Selvaria would win, she was the last known Valkyrur that would actually fight and use her powers. Her machine gun was kinda OP as well, so there’s that as a normal unit. From what I see about Aliasse is that she’s kinda wild, possibly emotional as well. While Selvaria seems a little more distant, so anger could be Aliasse’s fault in battle. If a fight in beauty, I’d have to go with Selvaria as well. I dunno, she seems like the type I could be with :3c

I’m going to give this one to Selvaria. The strategies that she’s picked up over the years will definitely help her. That being said, if Aliasse somehow manages to beat down Selvaria, I’m sure Selvaria would recognize this and either retreat or use the Final Flame to take her out. On the other side, I’d guess that Aliasse wouldn’t know when she’s beat and keep fighting to the end, which would be her downfall as opposed to the more strategic Selvaria. Either Selvaria takes this or nobody does!

Though I obviously could be mistaken, I’d have to go for Selvaria for the simple fact that Aliasse’s whip probably isn’t capable of the long range energy blasts that the lances have. As long as she stays at a distance, Selvaria is pretty much a sure win.
Then again, I know nothing of this whip.

Even though I prefer Selvaria, I’d have to say Aliasse would win in a duel between the two. Selvaria is very strong but her fighting style is very rigid and straightforward. Aliasse seems to fight with a much more reckless and unreserved style which I think Selvaria would have an extremely difficult time dealing with. Add on top of that Aliasse’s unorthodox weapon and I think Selvaria would be taken down much faster than you would expect. Once she gets accustomed to Aliasse’s “style” however… I think subsequent fights would turn out very differently.

The battle will depend if it’s between 2 valkyrurs or as 2 normal women.
As a valkyrur, Aliasse will win since she’s the newcomer. Remember what happened when Selvaria fought against Alicia? She got owned by the new valkyrur pretty bad, even though Selvaria is more experienced. So there seems to be some beginner’s luck for the newer valkyrur!
But as 2 normal women, Selvaria will win. Gun > Whip. You don’t need a game to tell you that.

A fight? Couldn’t tell ya really. But as far as the more appealing character, definitely Selvaria. Everything about her character (particularly in her DLC) had a flawed and vulnerable feel to it that ultimately made her feel much more human than the rest of the cast. I don’t like to make judgments, but I have a hard time believing that new girl Aliasse’s story is as appealing.

I’d say after the drubbing she recieved at Alicia’s hands, Selvaria would have been too psyched out to have done any damage Aliasse. But if all things were equal, I’d say she would still lose. Either way she would be too full of herself, and not be on top of her game.

Aliasse. Selvaria has lost the only Valkyria v. Valkyria battle we’ve seen her in, and it was against someone who was half-asleep. From what I’ve seen of Aliasse, however, that’s not really how I’d want such a fracas to go…

I’d have to go with Aliasse as both her weapon being more whip like and agility may be more then Selvaria could handle. They say the most dangerous soldiers in the world are the ones who aren’t trained and in a sense unpredictable. Aliasse fits that bill to some degree.

I think it depends on how much control Aliasse has over her powers. It seemed like Alicia lost control, which is why she won her battle with Selvaria. If both Aliasse and Selvaria have full control of themselves, I think the experienced Selvaria would come out on top. That is, of course, if she didn’t die in VC1…

Hard to tell as there is no real footage of how much damage the whip can do as opposed to lance.

I think Selvaria’s level-headed nature, her ability to command respect, fear, and loyalty, along with the strength and confidence in her ability as a commander, makes her a much more valuable asset to any military operation than someone who’s hot and volatile. The impression that Aliasse gives suggests a more shock-and-awe approach; while that offers its own tactical advantages, especially in small skirmishes, Selvaria would win out ahead in the bigger picture.

Selvaria would win because she is cold and calculating. She has a lot of battlefield experience and her power, combined with her smarts, makes her quite the dominating force. It would definately be Selvaria. From what I’ve seen, Aliasse is a younger, more immature Valkyria and Selvaria would be more experienced, even after her encounter with a Valkyrie in VC 1 (will not say the name for spoilers sake.) Also Selvaria seems to have complete control of her powers, while the other Valkyria that have shown up in the series seem to be burn out of their powers quickly and are unpredictable in their use of those powers.

I think Selvaria would win. She´s an experienced commander, a true warrior and is willing to put her life on the line for the cause, as she proved in VC1. She’s also beautiful and elegant to boot. Aliasse, looks like a punk drunk with her own powers. Selvaria would spank her to hell and send her home crying if they crossed paths.

Selvaria, hands down. She was already a general and a capable commander. And a good cook, to boot! She’s also got a lot of battle experience and is willing to do whatever it takes.

Selvaria definitely. An artificially made Valkyria can never beat the original. Plus Selvaria has her own private unit and is an excellent warrior even without her powers (although her Ruhm is just as cheap).

I would say Selvaria has the scary card hands down. She’s calm, cool, and collected. Though from what little I’ve seen of Aliasse she looks a little insane. So I give her the wild card and the battle in Aliasse’s favor since she might just do anything to win.

Selvaria, mainly because I like her sense of style, that means a lot.
