Sonic Adventure Releases September 15th on XBLA!Sonic Adventure, the debut Sonic title for the Dreamcast system, is coming to Xbox Live Arcade September 15th! Gamers will be able to experience the original groundbreaking Dreamcast adventure — redone in HD – on Xbox Live Arcade for the low price of 800 Microsoft Points. In addition to being Sonic’s debut on the Dreamcast — and the best-selling Dreamcast game — this was also the first Sonic game set in a 3D environment. Playing it now, it’s still easy to appreciate just how much the Dreamcast brought to the table. Large-scale adventure stages, multiple characters with intertwined stories, and some extremely clever & fast-paced action stages are just some of the highlights of the game. And of course the other highlight, with an extremely devoted cult following of its own, is the Chao Garden. Chao, introduced in Sonic Adventure, are a kind of virtual pet which you raise in a special minigame area linked to each character’s adventure stage. For those of you waiting for the game’s release on PlayStation Network, don’t worry — we’ll have more good news on that soon. Stay tuned!

Also, Chaos is the first thing you fight in the game. I always thought that was a little weird.

Can’t wait to play this game on my 360. To bad it isn’t upgraded to widescreen gameplay but I can live with that. With this gift two days after my birthday I think no gift can be better then this one. Kinda looks like the graphics are upgraded with better lightning, i’m not sure but it sure looks great!

Any news about the possibility of a PC (Steam) version?
I’m asking this since Sonic Adventure was listed in the ESRB website for the PC together with PS3 and XBox360 in early June (the 2004 Sonic Adventure DX release for the PC was listed separately from the recently added PS3/XBox360/PC).

People who is whining that this game isn’t coming out on the Wii should take a chill pill. Sega is doing enough for Nintendo already. They’re giving Nintendo it’s own exclusive Sonic titles on the Wii and DS, aren’t they? Plus, you can still buy SADX and play it on the Wii, too. Give other gamesr who doesn’t own a Wii a chance to play these Sonic titles.

You should chill out. Sega can’t release Sonic games for Nintendo ALL the time.
Nintendo ALREADY has Sonic Adventure DX for Gamecube. Go buy that. It works on the Nintendo Wii just fine.
I don’t think Sega has a problem with Nintendo. They’re already giving us exclusive Sonic games like Colors for the Wii and DS. That’s not enough for you? You don’t see 360/PS3 owners complaining and thrwing a fit.

*Sigh* our only chance to hear the true voice of Sonic in the past 5 years. I don’t think I will be buying. Its a bad port of the PC version. Sonic 4 is the only Sonic game I will be getting this year. In fact, its the first Sonic game I’ll be buying in 4 years. Hopefully some people will get enjoyment out of this classic. I prefer to play on my Dreamcast.

You guys are forgeting one thing, this is a digital download release only, because of that it can’t come to the Wii, since the Wii storage is far too small for Dreamcast games.

I’m guessing the DX exclusive stuff will be DLC as there are extra achievements that have been found.
I’ve got the Gamecube version so won’t be buying but it’s nice for those who can’t play the older editions. I don’t think the first Adventure game has aged well at all compared to the second game. The voice acting in particular is awful here. People say today’s VA acting is bad but you only need to play this game to see how bad it can be.

No i am not. Nintendo is closest to SEGA and deserve a download of this as much as the other two systems. The 360 and PS3 have too many errors. My 360 quit on me and my friend had a PS3 that blew up while he was playing. We have the pieces as proof.
So as the only system that really works decently, I hold true to what i said about 360 and PS3.

About the ONLY games SEGA releases for Nintendo are monkey and Sonic games. The other systems are getting the REAL games such as, Beyonetta as I mentioned, and SO many others. SEGA is giving the choice games to 360 and PS3 and are giving Wii the kiddie crap. Wii is like a pre-mature playground right now.

@Chris K. – Kiddie crap? If you notice Sonic Colors, which is about the ONLY Sonic game made ONLY for Wii, is the ONLY Sonic game made for Kiddies (SEGA said it them selfs. They said that they want to give the kiddies a chance this time and focus Sonic Colors on the younger fans). And here’s hoping that this is the ONLY time, Sonic makes a game for kiddies.
ALL I’M ASKING IS ANOTHER GAME LIKE SONIC ADVENTURE 2! That was the BEST Sonic game Ever! You know why? Because it was REAL! Not Mario stuff! And the music in SA2 was TOP-NOCH! THE STORY LINE WAS EPIC! AND THE GAME-PLAY WAS FUN!
I got disappointed with these games for these reasons:
Sonic Heroes = Weak Random story that got repeated 4 times.
Sonic and the Black Knight = Short story. Seems Rushed.
… Well that’s about it.
SEGA, PLEASE MAKE A SONIC GAME LIKE SONIC ADVENTURE 2! THE BEST SONIC GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sonic Colors may be for the kids so they can be able to enjoy it but that doesn’t mean that older people can’t enjoy it either. Also, I’d rather Sega make a Sonic game that is more lighthearted then a Sonic game that is suppose be ‘edgy’ with darker themes.
BTW, there’s MADWORLD for the Wii. I’ve heard that game is awesome.

@Sonicfan – Look, Sega always takes turns with Sonic fanbases, they do, Cool/Epic/dark, then Genisis, then Childish/weak story fanbase. Sega said it them-selves, they can’t please ALL fanbases with one game. And I’m planning on skipped threw the story for Sonic Colors since it’s childish… This game I’m just focusing on game-play. And I’m a Cool/Epic/Dark story Sonic fan, that’s the sonic I like, not the kiddie crap they are throwing in Sonic Colors… But, I’m sure there will be another Cool/Epic/Dark Sonic game for my fanbase. Like I said before, I want another game like Sonic Adventure 2.
But, let’s drop the subject since this article is about Sonic Adventure, not Sonic Colors.

SA2 is about the ONLY Sonic game they tried the ‘epic’ storyliine that didn’t suck. Every single attempted that Sega made to try and make the games ‘darker’ is complete suckage. I’d rather have the kiddie crap then to play a Sonic game with an embarrassing ‘serious’ storyline.
Okay, I’d drop the subject but remember you the one who brought it up in the first place.
Posted by sonicfan on September 1st, 2010 at 11:20 am

Alright, before I completely drop the subject, let me just say that they didn’t TRY to make an epic story, they DID. And if SEGA could make a game like SA2 back then, then they still could! And a serious story isn’t embarrassing, a kiddie story is! And if games like “Shadow the Hedgehog”, and Sonic 06 had better game-play but the story was the same, you know you ALL would have loved it. I mean, if SA2 had game-play like in Sonic 06, everyone would have hated it. I just think it’s weird to see Sonic in a kiddie story like game.
Alright, NOW I will drop the subject.

A Sonic game that doesn’t try and take itself way too seriously with great gameplay is why a lot of people loved Sonic back in the day. Sorry if SA2 is your first Sonic game but Sonic games wasn’t always about ‘epic/dark/serious’ stories.
And no, I wouldn’t have loved Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic ’06 even if the gameplay is good. The storylines is still way too out of place.
Okay, NOW I will drop the subject but as long as you keep going on about that Sega should go back to making mature Sonic games then I’m going to keep protesting that’s not the right direction that Sega should take the franchise.

Unless they finally updated it to play games directly from an SD card, as far as I know the Wii needs to transfer the game from the SD card to the internal storage, which is only 512MB, which is too small for Dreamcast games (which used 1GB discs).

For the time being, my opinion is that the Wii is kiddie. That opinion may change in due time. The only mature games Wii has is 6 to 10. Compare that to 360 and PS3.
One strip poker game, a massage game, and a few shooting/sword games. Very mature.

@74 Sonic 3D was 2D isometric with 3D sprites. If you want to be ultra-pedantic, you could count Sonic The Fighters, but as that wasn’t officially released until 2005(other than a *very* limited arcade showing) it’s not really relevant.

As if Sonic Free Riders wasn’t enough to make me want an Xbox 360. And a Kinect. T_T

@ Heart
Save your money man. I owned one, it isn’t worth it.
Get a PS3 if you HAVE to get another system. It has a few errors, but not as many as 360.

This is a little off-topic, but it’s the only way to contact Sega.
You guys CANNOT afford to mess up Sonic Colours and Sonic’s 20th anniversary. More playable characters and Sonic Adventure gameplay would be PERFECT for 20th anniversary.

Can someone tell me why Crazy taxi is in full hd and Sonic adventure dx isn’t?
I heard that it had to do with changing 3 lines of text in Sonic adenture dx’s settings.
Is that true?

Now we know why Tesco are doing a buy a 2100 points XBL card, get Halo Reach for £28. They clearly knew that Sonic Adventure would be the big draw, and then they can fob their Halo tat on an unsuspecting crowd at the same time.

Sorry about the horrible ratings of 3.5 from IGN and D from 1up, but they do make good points… YOU DIDN’T FIX ANYTHING!!

Go SEGA!!! Awsome price on the game and great idea on putting it on the Xbox 360 too. Hopefully they make Sonic Adventure 2 Battle also for the Xbox360. [=
