Valkyria Chronicles II Community BLiTZ – Special Edition, Part IX: One step moreTonight is one of many late nights that have become the norm here in the office lately. Often I find myself thinking at about 7 PM: “Why did I plan an update every single day?“, but each time the BLiTZ goes live and we get to see how much you guys are enjoying the content, it makes it entirely worth it. (I’ve also no room to complain, as the development team over in Japan works even longer hours – I’m not sure how you guys do it, but as with all things, it really shows in the work you produce.) Since I wasn’t able to update over the weekend like I’d hoped, I’m going to make today’s update one of the most special ones yet. Since we’re almost to the end, today we’re giving away four (count ‘em!) new codes, including a Rappy sticker, a Rodin sticker from Bayonetta, alternate outfits for Zeri, Ali, and Cosette, and even a Robotnik sticker for all you Sonic the Hedgehog 4 fans. We’re also happy to announce that you’ll be able to pick up our massive DLC Mission pack, featuring a whopping 22 missions, tomorrow on the PSN store for $4.99! Fans in the west also get a special deal here, as you’ll be getting an awesome value compared to the cost and the way these missions released in Japan. Finally, tomorrow is going to be the big Finale to end the BLiTZ, and our friends over at the Official Playstation Blog have teamed up with us to give Valkyria some special coverage! We invite you to keep all eyes peeled to their blog tomorrow, as we give out our four final codes! We hope you’ll all join us in supporting VCII’s DLC launch tomorrow – if you love the game already, there’s a ton more in store to add to the experience. Now then – on to today’s free codes! Lotte Insider – Special Edition, Issue 14Today’s first code: Phantasy Star Zero Rappy Sticker! (Enter this in-game at the “Extras” section) HPF2B7ASMWV5798U Lotte Insider – Special Edition, Issue 15Today’s second free code: Rodin Sticker (Hot!) (Enter this in-game at the “Extras” section) YLBWA9UFTHQ3ZM1E Lotte Insider – Special Edition, Issue 16Today’s third free code: Alternative G Cadets (Enter this in-game at the “Extras” section) NL45TX9F8VRSUKGR Lotte Insider – Special Edition, Issue 17Today’s fourth free code: Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik Sticker (Enter this in-game at the “Extras” section) GVFX8GA73FDWHQUS One last hurrahJoin us for the last part of the BLiTZ tomorrow on the Playstation Blog! We’ll have four final codes to send flying your way, and alongside the release of our huge DLC pack, the BLiTZ will finally come to an end. Until then – thanks for sticking with us every step of the way. Here’s to the big finale!

I’m a bit cross that the pre-order bonus missions are not exclusive. If I would have known that would be the case I would have purchased directly from PSN so I could play on my new PSPGo instead of having to fiddle with my original-run PSP and its fussy, drifty analogue stick. (Not to mention I’m not a big fan of Gamestop, but that is an improper discussion for here)

Thanks, I’m sure the value for the DLC will be worth it.
The only thing that saddens me is that Ramal doesn’t seem to be in the game. In the JAP release he is under Isara’s “Likes” list. But in our NA release Isara’s “Likes” list ends with Welkin…
So sad he was a great character in the anime, and I was planning to make him my #1 Shocktrooper.

It’s sad to see this end, but as we all know that it would have eventually have came to this day. Sega and RubyEclipse, have been great at keeping us updated with the codes they were able to give us, as well as keeping us updated on the new missions that will be available for download. You guys have been great, and I truly appreciate all the hard work put into what you guys have done for us. I thank you and am looking forward to the final release tomorrow.

R.Nav – actually, I just confirmed that both those missions are part of the 22 Mission DLC pack. So those of you who pre-ordered to support the game did actually get a nice bit of lead time to enjoy them, and now those who didn’t will still be able to pick them up tomorrow.
Based on what I saw today, there might also be more hidden in the game besides what we plan to finally reveal tomorrow. I’m checking it out now.
Thank you guys for the kind comments – it’s been an amazing, exciting, exhausting ride, but we hope you all had fun the entire way. That’s what it’s all about.

Thank you for the codes.
I have a question, so are the alternative costumes for the characters if the timeline was different? (like [spoiler] never dying, Cosette’s parents never died and Ali was still part of the test subject?)
Just wondering as I thought the codes simply “unlocked” another class for the existing character instead of create a copy of said character. XD
Either way, it’s been good, hope you keep it up in future games!

@RubyEclipse.
I understand the point about the pre-order people getting access to two of the missions early, but I wish that It was made clearer that the two missions were not exclusive and that they were instead labeled Early Access or sampler missions from the upcoming DLC, or anything that would have let me, as a consumer make a better informed decision. I like the game, and still would have bought it as a day-1 release but in the end I would have been even happier with the digital version instead of the UMD and I hope that for future SEGA releases it is made clearer when a pre-order bonus is early access rather than an exclusive.

The last BLiTZ is up on the Playstation Blog: http://blog.us.playstation.com/
It looks like the anime and manga character really were cut. -_- We just got a bunch of stickers for the finale and the PSP2 character that’s also obtainable from having the PSP2 save file…

-_- I thought we were getting the same game that came out in Japan but with extras, not substitutions. Very disappointed if they are confirmed as cut.
Posted by Dust on September 28th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Comment # 41
Indeed Dust. It seems like it would be more work on their part to remove characters rather than just keep them in. If I had to choose between having all the characters the Japanese version had and getting exclusive tank stickers, I would have to pick the characters. Tanks stickers aren’t a substitute for characters. I hope someone explains why the characters were removed. I would understand if it has to do with licensing issues with having anime and manga characters that didn’t appear in the US in the US version. Hopefully Ruby can shed some light on this.

I too am disappointed over the lack of missing characters. I mean no disrespect, as I am very grateful over what he have received thus far, and the DLC pack is a great bargain that I will certainly purchase. But Julius, Mintz and Ramal can’t just be replaced with a NTSC-exclusive stickers. Does SEGA have any plans on releasing these three through downloadable content sometime in the future?

Despite the negativity that’s been popping up due to the confusion around the possibility of removed characters, I do want to say that you guys at Sega really did a spectacular job with the localization of VC2. This is most I have seen a video game company reach out to the community and keep them engaged. It’s amazing that RubyEclipse takes the time to respond to comments and that ValkyriaTribune responds via Twitter. Seeing the effort Sega has put into involving the community in this and with Sonic 4 has rekindled my faith in Sega and I will be sticking around to post on the blog from now on.

’s possible that Ramal and the other anime and manga characters are still in. People have been assuming that they’re out because Ramal was listed as one of the characters that Isara likes in the Japanese version, but not in the US version. It could be that they simply removed Ramal from Isara’s like section since for those that only played VC1 and not watched the anime, they wouldn’t knnow who he is. We still have no reason to believe that Mintz, Julius, and Anime Alicia are removed. Given that ValkyriaTribune (The Valkyria Twitter) says that he’s played as anime Alicia and seen Ramal, gives us more reason to believe that they’re still in rather than removed. Coupled with the statement by Sega saying that nothing would be removed and by RubyEclipse saying that there may be more secrets besides what’s revealed today, it’s too soon to give up hope.

Love the voiceover work too as I’ve said before. I know the characters still have a possibility of being in its just after getting burned so bad on Yakuza 3 it’s kinda hard to keep up hope that nothing was cut.
But who knows maybe they’ll announce the anime and manga for a US release and give us the characters as free DLC. I’d love that

Here’s what’s been on my mind recently. If in the Japanese version of VCII they have all these additional codes for characters that we have not seen yet in the US version, there’s a possibility that they are in the US Version as we speak, just the code has not been found. Technically it would be more of a hassle to have taken the characters out of the game when transferring it to the US, especially since the US version is already out and that we get the codes that have been unlocked. All we have to do is try out different codes to see what other secrets are left in the game. RubyEclipse and Sega have been a great help in finding the codes out for us and even though this is the last Blitz for the codes, it doesn’t mean that everything is done yet for VCII. Each code has 16 characters, the only thing is what characters make up an actual successful secret. I appreciate all the help from you guys, and now I guess I will try to figure some out on my own, which if I successfully do, I will share will all of you. Thanx RubyEclipse and Sega for all your help.
