Space Channel 5 and Bass Fishing Incoming Soon! You read that right, we’ve just today announced that two more Dreamcast classics are headed to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in early 2011! I can’t contain my excitement for both games, as I spent a good deal of time playing both back when the Dreamcast was the only console I had plugged into my TV (ahh, those were were the days). From the ‘UP, DOWN, Chu Chu Chu’ of Ulala to the FISH!! (cue raging guitar) of Bass Fishing; these games are sure to bring us all back to a simpler time when the Dreamcast was bringing us all sorts of new and unique experiences. For those that aren’t familiar with the games, don’t worry, there’s a bit of info included that will clarify all (or at least enough to play along)! Space Channel 5 Part 2 follows famed reporter and dancer Ulala as she battles the Rhythm Rogues—a group of villains led by the mysterious Purge and his right-hand man Shadow—in a quest to rescue thousands of people who have been kidnapped and forced to dance. Players will need to help Ulala move and “chu chu chu” her way to victory over these evil-doers before they succeed in taking over the universe with their ultimate dance-control weapon. This is a true SEGA classic, oozing with style; a game you need to play to fully appreciate! SEGA Bass Fishing on the other hand is perfect for cost-conscious outdoorsmen! Look forward to some intense living-room angling with this re-mastered release. Players may choose from fourteen lures and will need to keep a close eye on the weather conditions at eight unique fishing spots if they want to reel in the big catches! The joy of this game is in it’s seemingly simple premise that becomes increasingly more difficult and challenging as you learn the ins and outs of digital fishing. Fish!! We’ve got more images of both games in our Flickr page, head on over for more Bass and Ulala goodness!

Two questions. One, will Sega Bass Fishing work with the rod controller from the Rapala Bass Fishing game from Activision? And two, can you guys please put some more racing games up on XBLA/PSN? I’m thinking Virtua Racing, Daytona USA 1 and 2, Sega Rally 1 and 2, and Ferrari F355 Challenge. Pleeeeeease?

Space Micheal is a main character in the game. Why would they take him out?

Hehe, I’d also like to see Kinect and Move support for “Sega Bass Fishing.”
But why release “Space Channel 5 Part 2″ before the original?

This is my happiness.
Also, XBLA needs more Chus.

FINALLY!!! Two of my favorite things in life are being coming to my PS3!!! Along with driving a crazy taxi, the only things left are mice in a rocket and a rebellious graffiti tagger!!!

Hmm, I really like how Space Channel 5 Part 2 comes out. Though, I would like to ask, will there abe also Japanese voices too? I think the English voices are too silly for me (except Space Michael
). I got used to the Japanese voices now.

BTW, @Deco Bryl.
The thing is about the upscaling and HD graphics. The original Space Channel 5 used already 3d generated backgrounds in the levels. So to make the game look better, they have to make all the backgrounds new with bigger sizes so that isn’t blurry. Only easier way would be to make it like Sonic Adventure with 4:3 ration instead of Widescreen
Space Channel 5 Part 2 uses ingame graphics, so only updating some textures could make the game already look better and they can make the game widescreen.

Space Channel 5 is my favourite Dreamcast game of all time. I hope there’s an option for Japanese voices in it too. I got pretty used to Japanese Purge.

Why are you porting Part 2 Sega?! We already had Part 2 ported to the PS2 anyway, and now this port leaves Part 1 only on the Dreamcast. The biggest flaw with Part 1 was the technical precision that Part 2 had, and you could have fixed that easily by porting Part 1, but instead you go with part 2? Why?!
And are you really not improving the graphics again? Get your act together; that’s the one major significant improvement you could have made to Part 2 yet you didn’t! Q Entertainment ported Rez, another Dreamcast original, onto XBLA and managed to make it HD, even though I’m sure they don’t have nearly as much money as you, nor expected the game to sell incredibly well. So what are you taking all these months for to port a game that wasn’t the right choice nor features any improved graphics? Why?!
