Join us in San Francisco for SEGA’s next Community Event!Hey everyone! Even if you can’t make our Sonic Colors event in New York next week, we’ve got something on the west coast coming up right after! Some of you may remember that last year, right around this time, we held SEGA’s first ever Community Event here inside SEGA of America HQ in San Francisco. It was all about Phantasy Star Zero then, and this year we’re making the event even bigger – and featuring Valkyria Chronicles II, Phantasy Star Portable II, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 as our big games of the night! What: A special, free event open to the SEGA Community! Bring your own PSP and your copies of PSP2 and Valkyria Chronicles 2! When: Friday, November 12th, from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Where: SEGA of America (directions below) Who: You! And a friend. (Or three) The event is free and open to the public, but we only have room for around 50! You can reserve your spot here on the blog via the comments, so make sure to do so asap! What to bring: Your PSP and a copy of Phantasy Star Portable 2 / Valkyria Chronicles 2! If you don’t own a PSP or the games, just let us know and we’ll get one for you to use! Dinner: Provided by SEGA! Event Agenda5:00 PM – 5:30 PM – Check in, introduction, and welcome 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM – Play with SEGA + Dinner (Multiplayer sessions with VCII and PSPII) 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM – Valkyria Chronicles II Team Tournament – 4P teams, Co-op 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Phantasy Star Portable II Team Battle Tournament 8:00 PM – 8:30 PM – Sonic the Hedgehog 4 – Community Feedback Session + Free play on PSP titles 8:30 PM – 9:00 PM – Closing, swag raffle, and awards ceremony In more detail, some of the highlights of the event are listed below: Free play + SEGA!Join your friends – and maybe even some SEGA Staff – in co-op games of Valkyria Chronicles II and Phantasy Star Portable II. Have fun meeting other fans of the series, and get some practice runs in for the competitions later in the evening! Valkyria Chronicles II – 4-person Team Tournament
Phantasy Star Portable II Team Battle Tournament
Sonic 4: Episode I – Community Feedback Session
In the meantime, if Sonic 4 isn’t really your thing, free play of both Valkyria and Phantasy Star will also be taking place in the other rooms. Swag Raffle, Awards Ceremony, and ClosingEveryone who attends the event will be going home with some special swag – and on top of that, a few lucky winners will also be getting extra prizes that we’ve got hidden away here at SEGA! You could go home with rare merchandise from last year or even vintage merch from the Dreamcast era and before! Whoever travels the furthest distance to arrive will also score a special prize. Oh, and know your SEGA trivia, too – because we might give out some extra goods to anyone who can correctly answer some quickfire questions! Once all is said and done, we’ll have our closing, bid everyone a good night, and let you all loose on San Francisco for the weekend. Directions to SEGAIf you live in or near San Francisco, you may have been by our offices before, or seen the big blue SEGA logo as you were driving down the highway. But if it’s your first time in the city or at our HQ, here’s our address: 350 Rhode Island St # 400 Find us here on Google Maps! The entrance to use is on Kansas street – the doors will be on your right! When you get here, just look for the Rappies and signs – they’ll lead you to the elevators, and SEGA’s reception is on the fourth floor. Reservation List
To reserve your spot, just post here in the comments! Your real first name and the initial of your last name is needed for the reservation. Spots will be given out on a first-post, first-reserved basis, so get yours in quickly! FAQ
And that’s that! We hope you guys are excited for the event – Let us know in the comments if you have any questions. You can start reserving your spots… right now!

sonic 4 is awsome the things that i hope they incloud in ep 2 is new levels (not rehash) ,new badniks , a sprite mood would be awsome and it would be awsome if they had a mood when you could play as classic sonic (have no problem with the new wan but it would be a cool feauture)

ffs.
If you want Sonic 4 to improve, why host it at your office? This excludes so many people who live in other parts of America or in other countries who want a say. Furthermore, the people who come obviously aren’t gonna give any needed feedback – those crazy enough to attend will feel Sonic 4 to be great and need nothing.
What a stupid idea.
Posted by Brad on October 28th, 2010 at 2:55 pm
Comment # 43
Tristan – I’ll look into this. It might be a challenge to set up, but if it’s possible given the time we have to prepare, we’ll try to make it happen.
Samuel – Nope! It’s free all-around. We’ll provide a lender PSP or copies of the games for you to borrow while you’re here, if you need them.
Brad – This is one session of many parts of feedback that are going into Sonic 4. First and foremost, this session alone won’t be the only feedback we use going forward – so it’s not really unfair to anyone. Whether on the blogs, the forums, or even through reviews, fans and press worldwide are able to tell us what they think, and we do read them.
I’d also challenge your assumption that nobody who attends will present any ‘needed’ feedback. First and foremost, remember that we’re dealing in opinions here. Second, and most importantly, I’m sure that people will bring up topics very similar to what we’ve been seeing already – I’d bet $20 that the physics comes up at least once, if not more.
To everyone else – I’ll be updating the list shortly to reflect the new confirmations!
Posted by RubyEclipse on October 28th, 2010 at 3:04 pm

As long as you let everybody have a say Ruby. Cause it’d be pretty unfair if you based your decisions on a minority of people.

Everything from sessions like this to comments on forums will come into play for Sonic – we’ll make sure that we take as much feedback as possible, from all possible areas, with us for the future.

Updated the list now… we’re over halfway full in less than 24 hours! Please make sure to get your reservations in for friends, family, or anyone else who may want to attend. At the current rate, it’s very possible that we’ll be completely out of room by the weekend.
Thanks everyone!

Which is the closest Bart station to SEGA HQ? And if anyone knows how far away it is that would be great to know in advance. Thanks
Ruby’s comment: The closest is the 16th Street and Mission Bart station. From there, you can take the #22 Bus going east to reach us – the first time the bus makes a right turn (or when you see the Whole Foods) you’ll be there!

Hey SEGA, (the bestest company out of all of them!) ^_^ although your holding your Sonic 4: Episode 1 feedback in your USA office area, my feedback/improvements would indeed be the following things:
1. The Physics! (The obviuslly most meantiond one lol)
2. The length of each Episode! (4 full zones isn’t really that good for a price of £10/$15 although even if the price does remain that I would still pay it)
3. The SuperSonic theme! (It should always be left as the invincibility theme as the classics did! Except Sonic 1 & 2)
4. The Zones, Bosses & Enemies! (Old remade zones, bosses and badniks are cool and all, but It would be even better to have fully new freash zones and Ideas of Badnicks to make since each past Sonic game had used that. EX: Sonic 1, had Motobugs & Buzzbombers Sonic 2, had Monkeys and more better fish, Sonic 3 had an new sort of Motobug being a motorhino. etc…)
5. More Platforming! (Sonics speed in the levels is good but there is now and again to much running on some acts, Platforming would be great to add!)
6. To play as Tails & Knuckles in future episodes! (That would be sweet!)
Please reply to my comment on what you think of it etc…
😛

The 16th Street Bart station is probably your best bet, but it’s still a couple blocks away from the office, so you’d probably also want to take the 22. Civic Center station is the next best choice, with a ride on the 19.
Just to update on my status since I’m currently wait listed, (Jason L.) if I do actually make the list I’ll definitely make the effort to go. There’s like a 10% chance something will come up that’ll prevent me from going but I should be good, assuming I can get a spot.

Hey, if Ali N. can confirm that they’ll be there 100% I’d be will to give up my guest spot. Is that alright? If they can’t confirm 100% then please give it to the next person.

How will people on the waiting list be notified if there is space for them? Do they show up and hope to get inside? XD Sorry for all the questions I just want to know in order to prepare my week accordingly.

Hello, Me (Brian L.) and my friend (Devan W.) would like to sign up for this event. Looks like we’ll be most likely on the waitlist, but If spots do open up we would like to attend. We both don’t have either a PSP or the necessary games, but we are big Phantasy Star fans and would love to meet the Sega community :).

I’m going to post a new blog shortly that will include the updated list – I’ll link to it here whenever it goes live.
It should also answer questions about the waiting list, as well as help us confirm if all the reserved guests can actually attend. So, if you have guests reserved but you haven’t supplied their names yet, please make sure to do so ASAP, as we’ll be opening those spots to people who can confirm names soon if we don’t hear back!
Thanks everyone,
Ruby

I’d love to attend, but it looks like my chances are slim. Please put me on the waiting list. Maybe we can get a side event going nearby for people who want to do multiplayer?

Aww, I should’ve checked up on the blogs a lot more often. >.<
Oh well, if I can still try and be able to enter the event, then please put my name on the waitlist as well.
Should the people on the waitlist show up anyways? Or should we pay attention to our emails for the update?

Just realized I forgot to ask about parking – Are the SEGA lots available to park in for this event, or is that not an option? Also would parking then be free, or will there be a fee?

So it’s in just a couple of hours without any final list?

Choco – It’s just under four hours away – and the final list is being posted in a new blog right now.

Mixfortune – you’ll need to find parking around the area, but there is free parking nearby. SEGA’s parking requires special validation and an ID badge (and costs money), so sometimes we just find nearby places to park too!

Sega’s garage also closes before the end of the event – so definitely recommend NOT parking in there.
