New Sonic 4 premium theme coming to PSN next week!SEGA and Sony are proud to announce a new Sonic 4: Episode I PSN Premium Theme coming next week for the PS3!
(Click here or on the image to see a larger version) I got a chance to check out the theme in action last night, and will vouch that anyone looking for a cool Sonic theme for their PS3 is in luck. The background features Splash Hill Zone, and you’ll see Sonic running around and spin-dashing in classical form. From time to time, the evil genius Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik will also fly past. Beyond the visuals, there’s also one other addition I really enjoyed – hearing the traditional ring noise when flicking through the categories. A little sound effect that can often go a long ways. The theme will release next Tuesday, January 18th, here in the US, and also shortly after for all those in Europe! For a limited time, all Playstation Plus members will also be able to get this premium theme completely free. If you’re not a PS Plus member, you can pick it up anytime for $2.99. After many requests for a Sonic theme to arrive on PSN, we hope today’s announcement will kick your holiday weekend off to a great start. Happy Friday, everyone!

Kolma – I haven’t heard any news on a 360 theme, but we hope you guys enjoy the exclusive avatar items (the Chaos Emeralds are pretty sweet, in my opinion) that recently came out.

This is a Dynamic Theme, so it won’t work with the PSP. PSP only does still themes, not the moving Dynamic ones that the PS3 can use.

This is wonderful news! I hope SEGA keep throwing these things on the PSN for the Store, it is the beginning of what we have to go;) I since I bought the PS3 in 2007, I’ve been waiting for my profile avatar Sonic / Eggman .. . I hope that soon we surprised that the content is not delayed for Europeans.

I’ll support you guys by buying this, it looks totally awesome!
Also i heared that they are scrapping the next episode, i don’t know but please don’t. Sonic 4 is the best thing i’ve played this year, i bought it for all the systems exept for the iPhone/Pod (I don’t have one)..please, keep em’ coming, if you compared Sonic 2 HD & Sonic Fan remix to sonic 4 togather, they are just some garbage compared to sonic 4.

I bought it yesterday, and it’s pretty cool-looking…..my only problem is that it’s TOO FREAKING LOUD!!! The SFX are about 7x louder than all of the games I play, so I’m forced to just mute my Key Tones or otherwise cause me and my family a major headache problem. I wish Sony would release a System Update with a Key Tone Volume switch, because as it turns out, this isn’t the only downloadable theme to be so ridiculously loud.
So yeah, I like it. It’s just too loud! >.<
