This is what i been waiting for. Will there be any extras in the game like sonic pic, movies and Sonic’s history. Almost like Sonic Jam on Sega Saturn? I Shore Hope So! Please SEGA Take your time. bring this game out when you all know its ready, dont rush, I can wait!

Oh, I was stunned watching the vid. Iv’e grown up with sonic, had them all for my genesis.The old ones were and still are my favorites and seeing the colors in such quality. Man… Needless to say, i’ve already text my boy friend, and told him about it and that we can play it on his PS3 <3 Much luv.

Nice trailer! It sounds like they’re using the jump sound from “Sonic CD” instead of “Sonic 1–3 & Knuckles.” It’d be nice if they recruited Jaleel White to play classic Sonic.

I totally agree with Comment #17. I’d like it if only Modern Sonic had Roger’s voice, while Classic Sonic would have Jaleel’s.
But anyway, that’s my only complaint. As for the rest, I love that you’re using pure 2D gameplay on a 3D (beautiful) world for Classic Sonic, and the same gameplay and graphics from Sonic Unleashed for Modern Sonic.
I love Sonic’s face and pose at the end. He looks both cute and “way past cool”.
Well, it’s looking like a must-have. Congratulations, SEGA. But if you could just make this one more thing, and hire Jaleel White to voice Classic Sonic, SEGA, I would be forever grateful.

This game looks great and i was wondering why it is not on wii. I heard because it’s in HD but i don’t see what the big deal is if it was not in HD for wii. Anyway keep up the good work with your games. I really like where this is going. I have one more question i was wondering if you were ever going to put the chao system back into the sonic games.

Its looking to be awesome alright, don’t really care that its not on the wii. I hope they’ll include more of the levels from the old retro games (like carnival night & chemical plant). I love both versions of sonic – 3D & Sidescroll 2D, old school & modern, theres nothing wrong with either

I think it’s an excellent opportunity to show certain fans how little you care about their loyal patronage by making it so that anyone wanting to play it is forced to shell out the cash for a PS3/Xbox. Well done, Well done, indeed. Again, don’t expect me to purchase your next Wii game if you’re gonna try and pawn off another minimal-effort Secret Rings/Black Knight game on us.

I don’t even care if it’s not Sonic Generations; It would just be nice if those of us that own Wii/3DS at the very least get something to commemorate that anniversary. I don’t think that’s too much to ask; It’s not like we’re asking to get these video games for free. We WOULD be paying money for them.

this game will be the best for me i love both old school and modern sonic and now they made a game with both i love the old school sonic because of the tude and i got myself all the dvds of the old school sonic (underground .ect.)and i love the new sonic and i can say i will ware my t-shirts with pride as should we all

Tottaly awesome. I would like to get the original sonic games from master, game gear, genesis and sega cd as unlockable extras. It would be very cool to have a chemical plant stage, i think is one of the more fastest stages of sonic. May SEGA could release the old games in a hd version, including sonic 1 for master system, since the stages were unique in this game. Oh, and would be cool to have bonus stages too, from all 2d sonic games, and maybe a bonus stage that throw sonic in a sonic spinball stage.

Hi Sega, longtime fan and first post. Personally, when I saw the trailer I was pretty excited to see Green Hill in gorgeous 3D, and it looks like the physics is right on. But looking at extended footage from other sites, now I’m a bit mixed, looking at the Hedgehog Engine segments.
While I hope I’m mistaken or the final product may differ, it looks like there was too much reliance on boost throughout, and the “3D” segments looked extremely limited, restricting you to a narrow plane – one way or another – with very little freedom and minimal or barebones platforming. Limited control, I guess you could say. I suppose I prefer open environments or at least more areas in stages that allow for 360 exploration as well, and not moving in one long line that just merely change directional axis. Not just one or the other. (Note: while I LOVE rail games like HotD and Panzer Dragoon, I don’t feel 3D Sonic should be a rail magnet). I’m also hoping the 2D H-Engine physics aren’t just copy-paste from Colors, and I know I’m the minority when I say I found jumping from platforming less natural and more of a chore in that game. Not a fan of the physics or controls (double jump for instance) in that game, but I’m hoping the designers aren’t intending for us to stick with “Classic” 2D if we don’t favor H-Engine 2D as it is.
I guess in summation, while I do like how the “classic” segments look, I’m going to find it hard to get amped about this game as a whole if the H-Engine is implemented without some serious tweaks that would make it feel different and better than Unleashed and Colors. Not a bad formula, but as is, I have a hard time favoring it. And vary the stages so they allow for a little more exploration, and please, fluid 360 movement.
Unless there are some Stardust Speedway/Chrome Gadget-like stages included, that’ll be too much to resist. Now if there’s a Metal Sonic race, disregard everything I just said because that’ll be enough for a guaranteed purchase from me. Much love, R.
(P.S. I dare whoever at Sega reads this first should stop what they’re currently doing, drop to the floor and do Curly’s shoulder spin while doing his famous “whoop whoop whoop”. Should anyone catch you, make them do it.

This game looks awesome! There’s a bit more I could ask for but the standards this game is already on is still higher than in the past so if those extras aren’t in the game, it’s not a deal breaker! =D It leaves room for future improvement anyways. Gives that “better than the last” effect. XD
Thank you for not paying TOO much attention to the fans and only listening to the reasonable points. Fans tend to come up with silly ideas. Like make SA3 on Dreamcast… or get Jaleel White as Classic Sonic. lol Both of those are just… wow. lol
Though Sonic Adventure 3 would be awesome to finally finish off that series! Takashi said to ask for SA3 if we wanted it and a lot of people are. Those who aren’t won’t be hurt and like the people who do want it will be if they think they’ll never get it.
I’d say don’t rush this game but being in developement since 2008 (so I’ve heard) and releasing in Holiday season, I think you know this already. Further evidence is in the slow improvement from 2006 to now in terms if quality and ideas. =)
Since it’s already the 3rd Decade of Sonic now, I’m willing to bet this is near the end of Modern Sonic who might be renamed so the next era can start and be called “Modern”. =) Good luck.

I really hope they do this game like Unleash and give the wii it too, I can care less about HD just let us play the game too, I know we got colors and all but this game is gonna be awesome, Please Sega please, even if the wii owners have to wait for it, could you give it to us too?

@Deven Ciufalo Thanks for the welcome. The gameplay footage I speak of is now all over YouTube, and it can be easily found by searching for “Sonic Generations Extended Gameplay” or something similar. It doesn’t show any new stages than shown in the trailer, but the 3D segment of Green Hill, while visually a treat, struck me as very “straight line” in terms of gameplay and design, and easily skippable platforming. I realize many don’t find a problem with that, but I figured I’d constructively and reasonably share my own concerns if the window is open.

I know this is a minor thing but I just wanted to get this out of the way:
1.) Will classic Eggman/Robotnik be called “Robotnik” in this one? Might be easier to differentiate between the two versions UNLESS there’s a cutscene in the game where, for tongue-in-cheek humor, modern Sonic calls classic Robotnik/Eggman “Eggman” & classic Sonic gives an expression that says “Eggman? I gotta remember that”.
2.) Will the Sonic 1/2 Title Theme be orchestrated to be the main title of the game (like how Unleashed had the “World Adventure Theme” & it was orchestrated)? I will understand if it might not be in there but I did hear that Sega (you guys) have to pay the original creator of the tunes (Green Hill & others before 3&K) per game. I know it’s minor but I’ve always wanted to hear it orchestrated to be an epic tune.
Hope we get to play both classic & modern version of Stardust Speedway. I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of fans who will want to race against Metal Sonic in both classic & modern stages. XD Also will we see 3D versions of the Death Egg (either from 2 or 3&K or both)?
I heard that several stages from Sonic Adventure will be in the game. Will there be some platforming gimmicks in the 3D parts? Just asking.
