Support Japan with this Dreamcast PlayStation 3 Theme! (Updated!)
Throughout the month, SEGA has been listing items on eBay to help with the Japanese relief efforts. The items have ranged from signed games and gear, to extremely rare bits of swag, to even rarer internal prints of advertisements. The response has been overwhelming; we’ve already raised over $20,000 and still have several auctions up with ultra-rare items! A very big thank you from all of us at SEGA to you, the fans, who have helped us raise this money for all of Japan. The Dreamcast PlayStation 3 ThemeTo help celebrate this effort, we are offering a download for a special Dreamcast styled PlayStation3 theme. The theme was created by Maher and Souha Al-Samkari of modus Productions and I’m absolutely in love with the results. Featuring the icons from the original Dreamcast system and a Good Luck Japan (Ganbare!) sentiment – the theme is a perfect thank you to everyone who helped out. The themes are available in both European Dreamcast Blue and North America Dreamcast Orange, please click the preferred image below to download the theme!

Install Your New Theme!You can install from external media, such as a flash drive, but it has to be in a specific folder, follow the steps below: 1. Change the files you download to add a .p3t extension. To do this, click the filename to highlight the name of the file, then add the .p3t to the end. The themes WILL NOT WORK without the p3t Extension! More info on changing file extensions within windows can be found here. 2. Create a directory within a flash drive with the following in UPPERCASE PS3\THEME\(themefile) 3. Pop this into your PlayStation3, copy to the system, and there you have it – a really cool new theme! I copied it to my flash drive exactly as stated and when trying to install, it says “There are no themes.” on the flash drive.

Sega, when can we get the 90′s Genesis room theme you had put up on the Europe store or somewhere I think? I would like to have it in North America.

So the files were updated WITHOUT the p3t extension. I’ve updated the blog with step by step ways to add this and install the theme. Sorry for the confusion!

Guys what I had to do to get it to work was to rename it on my computer, and at the end type “.p3t” <without the quotations to get my ps3 to recognize it.

Make sure to put the .p3t extension at the end of the filename for these to work. Spent a good 15min trying to figure that out.

These themes are wonderful :3
Add the extension “.p3t” to the downloaded themes, so the PS3 will recognize them.

It does work you need to create a file called ps3 then in that a file called theme all in uppercase and edit the file so it is a p3t file then it works

yes same here. the links say “The requested URL /downloads/dreamcast/Dreamcast_PS3_Theme_US was not found on this server.”
Please let us know when they will be up again. Also, please have them design a SMS, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive & Sega Saturn themes. (going back to the old school Sega!!)

When it comes to making the directory/folder, it won’t let me use \ or /, as you can’t use those characters in filenames…

It worked for me just add extension pack into folder then plug it into PS3 go to theme options>themes and choose install from the flash drive and choose this should work

Just installed the EU one on my PS3, looks the business.
Yeah, a 360 one would be great but MS doesn’t let you change the “box” designs. Maybe they should.

Guys, make sure you check your settings in Windows for Files.
If you go to the Folder Options then View tab. Make sure you UNCHECK “Hide extensions for known file types”. When you save, it saves it as a text file. With this unchecked, you can properly rename the file to .p3t.

The people that can’t get the file on probably don’t have WINRAR or WINZIP so that they can get the contents out of the .rar file

Could somebody PLEASE make this for the PSP also? American and European versions please?
I was wanting a white PSP and this theme, that would be awesome! I already have a cammoflaged MGS PSP, but this theme and powerstone collection would make this feel like I was really playing a portable Dreamcast lol.
Please Sega, could you release this for PSP if nobody can make it from scratch?
