Nintendo 3DS, Two Sonics, One Epic Adventure!
“Sonic Generations for Nintendo 3DS will combine brand new technology and twenty years of Sonic the Hedgehog videogame heritage” commented David Corless, Global Brand Director for Sonic. “Couple this with the ability to play as both Classic and Modern Sonic and you have the perfect gaming celebration for the landmark anniversary of our much loved mascot” The specifically designed Nintendo 3DS environments, based on iconic levels from popular Sonic the Hedgehog titles, will include an exclusive unlockable ‘Special Stage’ allowing players to become even more immersed in Sonic’s world. Sonic Generations for Nintendo 3DS will also take advantage of the StreetPass™ feature by enabling players to collect new content and unlock bonus material each time they pass another player. In addition to this, the new two-player versus mode means fans can battle it out across some of the most recognizable Sonic environments in a completely new way. Sonic Generations for Nintendo 3DS follows the same storyline as the previously announced platforms, with Sonic and his friends pulled back through time due to a mysterious new power which is causing chaos throughout the universe by creating strange “time holes”. Pish posh, Carlos, the Sonic Rush games were some of the better Sonic games I’ve played in the past… uh, times.
Besides, this is the 3DS, not the DS. That’s like saying the GBA was the same as the GB, or the SNES the same as the NES!

For those of you wondering why the title of this article says “One Epic Adventure”, it’s because in Japan, the 3DS game is called Sonic Generations: Blue Adventure. Meaning…

@Kellie – Hey I have a question about Sonic Generations for 3DS. If it will have multi-player, does that mean we get to play as OTHER characters too? Or is it just Sonic (I miss playing around as Tails, Knuckles, Shadow etc.)
So will other characters be playable for multi-player? Also, will the console versions have multi-player?

Sonic and friends? Does this include Chaotix and Shadow/co.?
Chaotix is technically a part of Sonic’s history, as well as, they did have a random appearance in the game. Shadow would be SA2, and we all know that Amy is definitely going to be there, not because of Sonic CD, but because she’s going to be stalking Sonic! Again.
And…Big is expected. Froggy!
Expecting everyone, considering everyone got a new voice actor, and that they haven’t really spoken much since Sonic Colors. And hopefully that leads to multiple characters in multiplayer.
That, and multiplayer…Sonic 2 styled? That’d be interesting. Or even a redone/extended Sonic 2, with other stuff from recent times. Wouldn’t mind collecting 200 rings, or change the rules and go for 999.

I just checked out the LG passive Cinema 3D TV set and while watching the blue skies and sandy beaches in the 3D demo…I couldn’t help but wonder what Sonic Generations on the PS3 would look like in 3D!
Any chance that might be a box feature? I think 3D might suit Sonic – so I am glad we are getting to try it on the 3DS at least.

If there’s a multiplayer mode, I don’t see why they can’t use other characters who play like Sonic (Mighty, Ray, Shadow, Tails [like in Sonic 2], Blaze, etc.). This would be a neat feature that would definitely please a lot of fans.

Because It’s succesor will be comming out soon NGP (PSP 2) it’s still in works ATM So maybe in the future we will get a Sonic game on that new consle plus the PSP has been out for a long time now…
But I can’t say the same for PSP
I did enjoy Sonic Rivals 2 
It was fun and I don’t mind the first one either

Amazing. We get an announcement that the game will be released on another system, and half of the comments are complains about how it’s not on some other system.
Well, what about the Atari, SEGA? Why aren’t you releasing on the Atari? Or the Wonder Swan, or Gameboy Color. You can’t ignore these systems, SEGA!

Will Generations be coming to PC? That would be great to know. Because mostly all the wii and ds owners have PC’s. so that would make alot of people happy.
PS- if you do make it for PC, please make where you can use it on computers like: Mac, xp, vista, 7, 8, Mojave, and stuff like that! Thank you, that is all.

Hold on, I just heard that the 3DS version will be solid 2D, Classic AND Modern. Is this true? I hope not. I think the 3DS should show off it’s skills with Modern Sonic. If the game is only 2D on 3DS, I see no use for a handheld version unless it’s the Nintendo DS, not 3DS.

If it’s gonna be like that you may as well quit making ds and wii gamers angry (knowing that if you have wii you have a ds). esp considering that they can play ds games on the 3ds. But they probably got too far ahead in working on it, it would be a mute point by then. :S

I am really excited about this coming out on the 3DS. I just watched footage of the e3 build, though, and saw that classic Sonic uncurls when he goes off rams. I know that Sega fixed this in the Xbox 360/PS3 builds and I was so glad for that. Please also fix it in the 3DS version as well. With no homing attack for classic Sonic, he is pretty much a sitting duck every time he goes off a ramp and gets some airtime. Other than that, this game looks amazing!

Where is my Sonic Generations on the WII, Sonic Team!
By not bringing it out on the WII, you leave about half of all the sonic fans on the sidelines.
And yes, PS3 didn’t get sonic colours but, that was hardly as big as this one is.
I feel like you don’t care about your Sonic-fans anymore.
What’s up with that?!
Aren’t we allowed to play Sonic anymore just because, we don’t have the money for the newer systems?!
