Not a port, it’s remade with true effort and rewritten from scratch. Runs in true widescreen, constant 60fps, this goes beyond a mere port.

Sega, concerning comments like #6 and #7, PLEASE don’t get Sonic involved with any significant others in the games. I don’t care about those ridiculous comics or TV shows, but please let the blue blur remain the adventurous symbol of freedom and will he is. And please, NO comic characters in the games, please!

Sega PLEASE don’t bring those stupid characters from Archie , especially that damn squirrel!!!!! They’re ruining the whole purpose of sonic and his story!
And make sonic and Amy a couple finally, even if u have to my her more mature acting and change her personality, i don’t care if that happens but u will please many sonic,Amy, and sonamy fans:)

I don’t mean to personally offend you or anything, and if I do, I’m sorry. But I just think you ought to know that Sally was created entirely independently of Amy. She was developed off one of the small animals from Sonic 1. Her creators probably had no idea of Amy’s existence and they obviously had no intention of replacing her; they made Sonic a girlfriend because they had no idea he already had one (or shall I say IF he already had one; I’m not even sure Amy existed at the time of Sally’s creation).

The reason why they’ve never gotten rid of her in the Archie Comic series despite the appearance of Amy in the games is because she’s a well-established character. People who have been reading that comic for years would be very upset if she was taken away and replaced with Amy, just as you would be outraged if Amy was replaced by Sally in the games.

As for the Archie characters “ruining the whole purpose of sonic and his story” – I’m sure Archie fans believe that characters like Shadow and Amy are ruining Sonic and his story.

Who’s to say that the games are the “correct” Sonic story? Sure, they were first, of course. But why can’t alternate universes exist independently of it and still be considered legitimate? NO ONE considers Archie and Sega to be a single universe. Some people try to blend them in their own stories (me for example), but as they exist, they simple cannot be considered one and the same.

Remember, Sonic is a work of FICTION. The universe as depicted in the games is no more “real” than the universe depicted in the comics, because it’s all entirely fictitious. I’m not saying you can’t prefer one universe to another. By all means! Have all the personal opinions you want to have! Think whatever you want to think! But it simply isn’t true that Archie is trying to manipulate Sonic as he exists in the games. They’re two TOTALLY different universes. Whatever Archie does in the comics doesn’t affect the games one shred! And put your fears at rest – that’s probably NEVER going to change.

I hope I didn’t offend you of course! If I said anything false or misleading or anything, feel free to correct me! I’m just giving my opinion based on the facts that I perceive. If my facts are messed up, go ahead and tell me!

And like others have been saying, SonAmy as an official couple is never gonna happen. That’s just not who Sonic is. Write about it in stories and draw fan art all you want, but Sega just isn’t going to do it. The Archie comics might have a lot of mushy-gushy romance, but the game doesn’t 99% of the time. They just aren’t into romance stuff. We’ll all have to get used to it.

And I agree with MakeItBoom about Amy’s Sonic Adventure promise. Ugh! I wish so badly that she would actually get a life outside of Sonic. Right now, she just seems like a character who has a lot of potential, but turns out really lame because they can’t bother to develop her personality very far beyond her love for Sonic.
