Sonic CD Arrives In Time For the HolidaysYou’ve been waiting for it… and it’s almost here! Re-live the story of the 1993 original, which sees Dr. Eggman attempting to take control of time by stealing the Time Stones from Little Planet. Sonic must speed through levels and travel through time whilst fending off Eggman’s robots to recover the Time Stones and save the smitten young hedgehog, Amy Rose.
One of GamesRadar’s top 100 games of all time, the revamped version of this popular title will include the original Japanese and US soundtracks as requested by the fans, and, for the first time, the ability to play the game as Sonic’s best friend Tails, unlockable by clearing the game for the first time. Sonic CD also features the first appearance of Metal Sonic, one of Sonic’s most enduring nemeses. Sonic CD will be available on multiple platforms, and therefore has multiple release dates. So here’s your handy guide to when the game will be available on your chosen device(s). XBLA – December 14, 2011 (400 MSP) PSN – December 14, 2011 in Europe, December 20, 2011 in North America ($5.00 / £3.59/ €4.49 / AUD$6.25) iOS – (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) – December 15, 2011 ($4.99/ € 3.99/£2.99/AUD$5.49) Android – December 14, 2011 Windows Phone – Early 2012 PC – date coming soon! Updated at 2:45pm PT to adjust iOS and Android dates, and to add PC. | ||

Now I’m just nervous about the contest results. X3
I have to wait for them in case I’m amongst the top 50 and win the game-but if the results are only up Thursday (And I have a day off from school tomorrow thanks to a review day! :3) then I’ll have to wait longer and I may not win… ooh choices. X3
Either way-Yay for Sonic CD! Been anticipating this, so a day wait won’t be long-not to mention on Thursday I go to school, then Friday I break up for the Christmas holidays so Sonic CD’ing all around. :3
TL;DR : YAY SONIC CD! Meep nervousness. :3

@Ceej: It is being released on the PC, they’re just refusing to tell us the release date for some reason, even a coming soon/late 2011/early 2012 would have been better than being silent. ._.

*drools* this is my favorite game ever. I’m going to buy this for my iPhone and my xbox. I’d buy it on ps3 and windows phone 7 too if i had them. Everyone should support the crap out of this to encourage further enhanced re-releases!

soo why do i get it last? you couldn’t put it on psn today? wth we gotta wait a extra 6 days cuz you don’t want to release it the 13th which was originally the date? makin me have second thoughts on this. prolly get all the discounted games like scott pilgrim instead.. shame guess i won’t be completing my ps3 sonic collection of 100%. bout to 100% sonic Adventure n 2 and goin to get 1. waiting for 3 n knuckles, i 100% sugc, sonic unleashed, sonic and sega allstar racing and goin to get sonic gen boxing day most likely. but i don’t have psn money often and i’m not waiting 6 days to get it, cuz sega always does this stuff to sony (sonic unleashed got postponed sonic 1 & 2 just came this year, sonic 06, they didn’t atleast fix the game for out release. sonic 3 & k where are they? no sonic gen for vita)
where are the games you promised also? Sonic the Hedgehog 4 ep. 2? i’ve waited soo long. I’m sure you are aware that you guys said sonic adventure and crazy taxi is the START of bringing the dreamcast games to psn and xbl.. so why isn’t there more then 4 games and actually 3 cuz bass fishing doesn’t count.. ppl have been waiting for sonic adventure 2 but still haven’t got. Step It Up!

No Nintendo consoles? Is this because it utilizes a fan engine and Nintendo doesn’t like that? But then why did the horribly emulated version of the Sonic collection come out for the DS? That was just the Sonic games running on a Genesis DS emulator that’s freely available on the net.

It’s a shame they didn’t actually improve the graphics, and the speed sections could’ve been improved to be faster. Or they could’ve used the Sonic Generations engine and made it a full on arcade remake, with similar level design but big tweaks like with Sonic Generations. Did I mention I love Sonic Generations? Because I do.

>You forgot to add the release date for Wii’s Virtual Console.
It’s not comming to WiiWare. It *CAN’T* come to WiiWare. There’s a draconian 40MB maximum file size for WiiWare titles, which would mean removing all the music to make Sonic CD fit…
Another way to look at it: have you compared how Sonic 4 Episode 1 sounds on the Wii and on the Xbox 360? The music is different, because SEGA had to replace all the music in the WiiWare version with lower-quality synth versions to make it fit.

I must say, I wasn’t aware a PC version was even in the works – this news makes me very happy! I definate buy.
Staggered release dates are extremely annoying though – I’m sat here patiently waiting to buy the game for iOS. It’s even available in NZ already.

I’m questioning this too. For contest winners, do we get the download code when the winners list is revealed or what? Waiting a week isn’t too bad, but I’d still like to play the game over Christmas Break. :U

Hi Sega, I just purchased Sonic CD for my HTC Sensation XE. When I load up the game it asks to download files in order to play the game. I select ‘Yes’ and the download bar appears. From there it does nothing – no progress. Very disappointing
. Please advise – response by email if possible. Thanks.

What a joke – we buy the game and then cannot download the game?
All day I’ve been trying to download it and all day I’ve been told there was “an error”… I did get it to download twice and twice it got to 100%, only to cancel and tell me there was “an error”!
I’ve contact Sega repeatedly via both Twitter and e-mail, and yet they cannot dignify me with a response, even though the Android Market comments show this issue is widespread!
The matter has been reported to Google, and I am looking into legal action via the Fair Trading department in my area… After all, the law says you can’t sell a product you’re not going to provide!
