Question: I usually always play as Sarah (my favorite fighter) do I have to buy ALL THE DLC to get everything for her or do I just buy the one piece of DLC for her, ‘
What’s the difference between the 2 packs for 9 and 10 characters and the individual character packs?

Sounds great! Will SEGA also support PC users with a digital release on Steam or similar distribution (my sega saturn usb joypad needs some use outside of Streets Of Rage Remake.

Sounds great but how much will the game itself cost?
Can’t wait for this, have been dying to play as Jean Kujo.

So simply, we can get hold of all extra customs for €25.98 or 2,400 Microsoft Points?

Does anyone know the modes , this will include? I bought Tekken 5 DR on PS3 , it had new online but no story mode or the cinematics which was kinda disappointing but couldn’t argue with $15 . I am kinda feeling that this will take the same route , I hope I am wrong but I will get this anyway , its $15 with customization items and so many characters with a depth.

Awesome, thanks to the wonders of download services I can pay a grand total of £29.97 to get the full game content!
That was, of course, sarcasm. At that price you may as well do a proper retail release.

Lol. All items will be included when you download the game, (so that you can see other player’s items even if you haven’t bought those DLCs) but you will have to pay an extra $124.79 to UNLOCK it all. This is even worse than the SFxT on-disc DLC fiasco.
Thanks Sega.
For years upon years, we VF fans rigorously and aggressively support this series despite it having a small scene outside of Japan and also despite a couple of entries in the series never seeing release outside of Japan. And this is how you thank us: By seeing us as nothing more than cattle to milk for the money that you idiots lost over the past decade with the many terrible decisions you’ve made. I feel sorry for the hard-working employees who had to get laid off, but not for Sega itself. Sega got exactly what it deserved when all its bad decisions finally caught up with it and was forced to downsize. But the fans have to pay for Sega’s poor decision-making too it seems… -_-
Should’ve saw this coming though. When Sega promised that each Episode of Sonic 4 was only going to cost $5, then they got raised to $15 each… that was a pretty big red flag of how this company was going to start to treat it’s loyal fans.
And we haven’t even seen the scariest part yet: The fact that Sega is STILL quiet about the price of the Final Showdown game itself can only mean it’s a number that we’re not going to like. As in possibly as much as $40. We could be looking at as much as $200 total to have access to the entire VF5FS console experience. Still think Sega is a cool company that does favors for its fans? Lol ok.

Day 1 DLC is one of the worst things to have come out of the gaming industry lately, and the blog post actually makes it sound like a good thing… But at least this doesn’t seem too evil, as the packs don’t seem to add anything to the gameplay so players that don’t buy them aren’t at a disadvantage (right?). This does make me wonder though how much the game itself will cost? With the packs costing as much as they do, it seems Sega will be trying to a significant amount of money from those to cover the development cost. That doesn’t seem like a bad strategy in this case, and it could be a win-win for both Sega and the fans. But Sega, please don’t go too far in trying to milk money from the fans using DLC. Some companies have really crossed the line recently in terms of what can be deemed “acceptable” in terms of day 1 DLC, and I’d hate to see you join those ranks.

@ #5:
the costume packs are purely usually. they don’t give anyone any advantage. it’s mainly to differentiate your character from everyone else.

OMG, is everyone blind!?
The game costs $15 or 1200 MS Points
If you want one characters costume it will cost $5 or 400 MS points
If you want all of the costumes it costs $30 or 2400 MS Points($15 or 1200 MS Points for a pack of 9 characters and $15 or 1200 MS points for the other 10)
If you want the game with all the costume customizations you pay no more than $45 or 3600 MS Points.
Learn to read people.

I was looking forward to this game very much as I have always loved Virtua Fighter. But without Quest Mode and even Arcade Mode, I don’t think I’ll buy this. It’s essentially just a multiplayer mode. I’m quite disappointed with it.

@10. Now that we know the price, I think we can cut them a bit of slack here. 15$ for the game itself is nowhere near the price of a full retail game. And you don’t have to pay $142 to get all the packs, the two additional customization packs contain all the individual packs for a total of 30$. The blog post doesn’t seem to be very clear on that, but Sega confirmed this on Twitter. So it’s not as bad as it looks. That said, I do think the customization DLC is too expensive. They should really drop the price on those. Or at least make a complete bundle and sell it for about 20$. As it stands, the “complete” game costs three times as much as the core game, and I do find that a questionable pricing strategy and not something the fans should just accept. I hope Sega is willing to look into that.

From the way I read it, it sounded like there will be 1 individual pack for each char, and then “two additional” bundle packs contain a different set of items for each char. Meaning you have to get both the individual packs and then the bundle packs to get all items. If the bundle packs truly are just a collection of the individual packs, then my comment is inaccurate and I apologize.
If unlocking the entire game truly costs only $45, then that is not so bad afterall.
Sega, please confirm whether or not the individual and bundle packs contain different items by re-writing this blog entry more clearly.

Sega, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! $15 for the game, and then $30 for ALL the DLC. $45 total?? Damn! That deal makes me want to quote a certain word that Jacky Bryant says all the time
I’ll be buying EVERYTHING for both consoles, Sega! Thank you again for releasing VF5FS on consoles! June 5th & 6th! Can’t wait!

i see that most people can’t read and understand about DLC custom packs that probly them selfs wont play all the charactors for long. people please don’t be stuck up of custom DLC just use it on your main charactor at least and deside ( if you can affard it ) later on that you want all of the castom DLC. tho sega from me and probly from others please add a story in virtua fighter 5 final showdown and 6 like most famust of fighting games that are out ,you gave them charatorlistic in every aspect of animetion a stroy in the game will add that touch to them of realism

The game is $15.
Each character pack contains all of the items belonging to that character: $5 each.
The bundle packs are simply collections of the characters packs for a discount price: $15 each.
Example:
I can buy the character packs of Akira, Pai, Vanessa, Brad, Jeffrey, Sarah, Jacky, Wolf, and Goh separately and pay about $45.
or
I can buy the bundle pack which contains the packs of these characters (containing the same items) and pay $15.
For those who only play a few characters seriously, you can opt to pay $15 for the game and dole out $5 here and there for the characters you use the most.
If you happen to play all the characters or like to have everyone dressed up, then you can buy the two bundle packs and pay $30.
So for the most devout fan that needs everything from the game, the most you will pay is $45.
You only pay $95 if do not have the foresight to know which characters you want have all the items for.

@17. I agree the blog post could use some clarification, but they confirmed it on Twitter. There’s some discussion on the forum as well about the pricing, and I think one thing Sega could do is sell the packs for half the price on the first day(s) of release. That gives the fans a more reasonable deal and also more inventive to buy the packs instantly along with the core game right from the start. Better would be for them to drop the price permanently, or a combination of both (drop customization bundle to 800 MSP, and sell it for 600 MSP on the first day). In any case, something will have to change to convince me to buy the DLC.

The customization DLC are too expensive.
The two pack at 400 MSP would be a good deal, but at 1200 each is totally crazy.
If you want the game with all the costume customizations of the arcade, you have to pay 3600 MS Points, something like 45$
waiting for a dvd release with all dlc included.

The bundles are the same as the individual offerings, only you get a deal when you buy the bundle. I suspect there are those that only want certain characters, so it’s a win if you only want one or two packs or if you want them all. More options is better for all involved.

I love that price point. It will surely attract more players and a healthy online community is all I want.
That said, any news about a Steam release, SEGA? You’ve been releasing all your games on the PC lately and it would be the perfect goodbye to VF5!

Remember the Sega Genesis era where Sega company ruled? They were on the top. I was a great fan of Sega until they got greedy by milking the fans dry. They started to pushed on new hard wares and peripherals. I think there were at least a hundred of them at the same time. I am exaggerating, but there were a lot, and no support for the fan. What happened next was an obvious, a mass exodus. Fan like me end up leaving with disgusted after taste of Sega products. Sega, that how you fell in the hardwares industry. You don’t support the fans and the fans won’t support you. You don’t learn from your mistakes, and here you are doing the same thing. To win the fans of new and old, you must be generous, not greed. It just the damn the customs, give it to the fan, and don’t even mention it free or anything. You are not the only one in the fighting genera, you know?. You are not even on my top ten fighting list of games. Take lesson from Tekken franchise, they give a plethora of stuffs, that why they are top dog. Fan like me support them. I buy the actual games and pay with real money. Your company, I just pirated with my mod-PS3. I pity you, you lame-o!
