#SegaE3 SEGA Partners with NASCAR Superstar Danica Patrick for Sonic & All-Stars Racing TransformedThe first day of E3 is always exciting… but today was another level of excitement. We’re thrilled to have had Danica Patrick in our booth, and to announce that she will be appearing alongside Sonic the Hedgehog in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Known for her talents behind the wheel, Danica will be a playable character with customized vehicles in the game. That means you’ll get the chance to test your racing abilities as Danica against an All-Star cast of SEGA characters including Sonic, Knuckles, AiAi and others. “It’s a very exciting experience since I’ll be sharing the screen with such an iconic character,” said Danica Patrick. “I cannot wait for gamers to jump into my customized, transformable vehicles and give Sonic a run for his rings this holiday season!” “Danica Patrick is one of the most popular athletes in the world and her accomplishments both on and off the track make her the perfect partner for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed,” said Masanao Maeda, President and COO, SEGA of America. “Danica’s involvement showcases the broad appeal of this title – everyone from casual gamers to hard core racing fans will be able to enjoy the fun.” To further enhance this partnership, Danica will be racing in a custom No. 7 Sonic the Hedgehog Chevrolet, fielded by JR Motorsports, during the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge on November 3at the Texas Motor Speedway (to be televised live on ESPN). The race, part of NASCAR’s Nationwide Series, marks Sonic the Hedgehog’s NASCAR debut. The customized race car was revealed today in our E3 booth, and will be on display for the rest of the show. Additionally, Danica will be integrated into the national marketing campaign for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation Vita, the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo’s Wii U, and PC Digital Download this holiday season. | ||

I don’t even…
Outside of America nobody even cares about NASCAR so nobody is going to know who this is or why she’s appearing along side Sega characters.
What Car will she be driving in the game? I really, really hope it’s the Hornet from Daytona USA so it doesn’t feel like a completely wastedcharacter spot.

A real person in a cartoon racing game? That’ll be awkward.

So for a SEGA brand cross-over game we get a NASCAR driver, but not Segata Sanshiro? On what planet does this sound like a good idea?

Let’s just cut to the chase: can we expect that car to be a Free Stuff Friday prize eventually or will it be cubed up and mailed to Jim Sterling’s house for no real reason?
Good partnership for the game, though. The original sold well enough and had a lot of praise, so hopefully this one gets even more success.

Sharky is right. This only makes any sense if it were a North American only release, and less than 1/8th people on the continent even watch NASCAR so it does not even make sense at all.
This is a really bad idea and reeks of lame sponsoring. It is frustrating because I know the game is really great fun, but silly marketing pushes like this and the name of the game not being something simple like SEGA Racing Transformed instead really makes the overall product look like a cheap cash-in.
At least Banjo-Kazooie was another video game character and only on one platform. Danica will be on everything and is only known for being a female racer, not a good one.

… I have never heard of this person before.
Maybe you haven’t noticed, but outside the US nobody cares/knows about NASCAR.
Seriously, I would have preferred a random character from a title that’s nearly unknown to the public than this obscurity.
Honestly SEGA, what were you thinking? :/

Any new gameplay footage? A trailer? Seriously, your booth is open to the public but no game website covering E3 is even bothering to talk about SEGA in general, other then Aliens.

I don’t know her or watch NASCAR either, but who cares? I just think it’s neat how there will be a Sonic car on NASCAR

Seriously SEGA? I thought the company was beyond this. Totally not needed and unwanted. Stop forcing good developers to make stupid inclusions.

He-hey! That’s pretty cool! Danica Patrick is one of my favorite NASCAR drivers and she has teamed up with my favorite character of all: Sonic The Hedgehog! Thank you, Danica!

Please tell me you have some more info to release than this. Jet Set’s release date? Something about the leaked Sonic Adventure 2 avatar items from Major Nelson’s blog? Skies of Arcadia HD/2 (working title: Stars of Arcadia)? Shenmue anything? Outtrigger HD?
You guys are sitting on so many classic, amazing franchises and doing nothing with them.

I’m sure she’s very good at what she does… but like most people outside America, I’m not quite sure what that is.
Any new Sega characters to announce for the roster this week?

This is cool and all Sega, but what I really want to see is Ristar, Ecco, Vectorman and Nights driving alongside Sonic the Hedgehog. Just do it. C’mon.

Seriously, SEGA? How could this possibly sound like a good idea to anybody? You could have done anything BUT that, like announce a character that people will at least know and enjoy, like Silver (REALLY want him in the game this time!) or Nights or just about anybody else, but no. You pick a Nascar racer. First of all, the majority of people in the US don’t even know a thing about/like/car about Nascar in the least, and everyone outside of America probably won’t even know where the heck this is coming from. You probably would’ve been better off showing new tracks, characters, etc. What was going through your heads when you made this decision?

Hope a realistic person in this game will turn out good, I don’t watch nascar so I actually don’t care either.

This is surprising, I’ll admit. But I honestly don’t mind. Danica Patrick’s cool, and this will get the game mainstream media coverage. It’s a win for everyone!

Actually I probably would’ve thought it more fitting (and hilarious) to have the 1960s Speed Racer as a playable character.
…But that’s just me.

What the hell? SEGA, if you HONESTLY wanted a REAL human in the game, why not see about putting in Yuji Naka as well as Naoto Oshima as drivers?

SEGA! why? why? is this going on Wii U you said you don’t know what to do with Wii U now everyone is going to get it on Wii U why not just put it exclusively on Wii U and the 3ds why not? you always do this “we don’t know what to do with Wii U” and then boom! Wii U! why? it just makes no sense? now the girl nice but Wii U? now i said it one and i say it again it just makes no sense? why? SEGA?
ps i don’t know if SEGA is going to add my comment but i’m going to copy this comment until you add this comment.

I consider it a bit fail to put a real person in a Sonic Game. SEGA ALL STARS. She wasn’t created by Sega. But this game looks good, and I can tell it’ll rival Mario Kart 7.
