Video Game Icons Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man® to meet in Historic Archie Comics Crossover EventArchie Comics, the leading children’s comic book publisher in the world and the home to some of the most recognizable pop culture characters, including Archie, Betty and Veronica, Jughead, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Josie and the Pussycats, announced today in conjunction with SEGA and Capcom® plans for a Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man® comic book crossover, starting next year. The comic book event marks the first time the two legendary video game characters have crossed over, making it a landmark meeting for comic book and gaming fans around the world. The story will be written by best-selling and longtime SONIC THE HEDGEHOG and MEGA MAN writer Ian Flynn and will feature cover art by superstar artist Patrick “Spaz” Spaziante, who illustrated the hit SONIC: GENESIS storyline and the highly-successful MEGA MAN comic book launch. “This is a historic moment for not only Sonic and Mega Man, but for Archie,” said Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater. “We’ve had a long, fruitful history with Sonic and are enjoying great success with Mega Man in all our markets. Bringing these characters together was something we’ve been hoping for since we got both licenses, so this is very much a dream come true for the company.” The crossover, spearheaded by Archie’s Executive Director of Editorial Paul Kaminski, will be a universe-spanning tale that involves not only the legendary characters, but their expansive and diverse supporting casts and villains for a tale that’s certain to go down as one of the most acclaimed and best-selling comic crossovers ever. The 12-part storyline will run through the ongoing SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, MEGA MAN and SONIC UNIVERSE titles and be available in print and digitally. “We’ve been gearing up for this for years,” said Kaminski. “From the moment we had Mega Man at Archie, we knew we wanted to bring Sonic and the Blue Bomber together. It’s a big budget movie featuring two of the most storied video game franchises. This has never happened before. We’re making history here, and it’s going to knock people for a loop. This is what comics are all about – drama, fun, action and tons of surprises. Fans will not be disappointed.”

Crossover with Pokemon, Ponies or Star Wars would have been better. :с

What about a video game crossover, SEGA? CAPCOM? HHHHMMMM?!?!?!!?!
Nah, I’m messing with ya. This sounds pretty cool. And I seriously hope it’s SEGA Sonic crossing over with Megaman, and not Archie Sonic. Sally, Bunny, Antoine, and other crappy non-video game characters don’t deserve this high level of awesome.
But seriously, get on that video game crossover now.

I hate crossover comics, if for no other reason that I have to buy twice as many comics to understand what’s happening.
I don’t think Sonic has ever had a satisfying crossover, but if anybody can pull it off it’s Ian Flynn.

They might mean it in a figurative sort of way.

Cool. Should be interesting. The picture looks like Sonic and Megaman have intimately taken their clothes off going to bed… ?

That’s awesome, but y’know what would be more awesome, since it already kinda happened in video game form? A Sonic and Mario crossover in the comics, and in no relation to the Olympics.

@Fire_fox2 The 12-issue storyline will actually be spread out through three publications: Sonic, Mega Man, and Sonic Universe. So, more about 4 months with a new addition every 10 days or so.

Hmmm… I wonder if Sonic will look classic or modern? While a videogame would certainly get more buzz, I can certainly see why this is being done as a comic book mini-series.

Heh, this should be sweet. Might have to start order a subsciption to the Megaman Comics and grab some back issues as well so i can catch up to the story so far on his front. Been following the Sonic Comics for years and i see this is garenteed to be good. Personally like the comics more than the games at this point, It incorperates all the characters in Sonic’s Universe w/o making them aggrivating or just plain annoying like in the games, as well as being able to cleverly weigh-in new characters. So i expect great things from this crossover, don’t let me down archie; you’ve got two of the greatest comic icons under your belt, let’s see what you’ve got.
