SEGA Brings Nine Playable Games to PAX Prime
We’re excited to announce a line-up of nine playable games, including one unannounced game, for this year’s Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle. Alongside our upcoming blockbuster franchise titles Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Aliens: Colonial Marines, we are also showing off several digital titles, including Double Fine’s The Cave and Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit by indie developer Arkedo Studios. Phantasy Star Online 2, the popular multi-player online role playing game, which launched to more than 730,000 players in less than one month in Japan, will be making its Western debut at the show. Fans of the iconic blue hedgehog will also get to play the recently-announced HD version of Sonic Adventure 2. SEGA’s full PAX line-up is below:
SEGA’s games will be showcased in booths 242 and 252 at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington, from August 31 through September 2, 2012.

YYEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS NEW IP!!!!!!!!
I’m always waiting for new IP. Don’t get me wrong, with Nintendo and SEGA, I love those games of old that I played and loved growing up, but the industry has got to move forward. We’ve got to make new classics!
I probably shouldn’t bank so much on something that is probably just really simple, but anytime you guys try something new, it makes me a happy camper. (Tell Nintendo to get off their duffs and stop resting on their laurels. “New” Super Mario doesn’t constitute something new. They haven’t done a real new IP in ages).

I wouldn’t mind a Shemune HD, but I’d like to see a Sonic Gems HD Collection. I wanna play Sonic the Fighters and Sonic R on my PlayStation3/Xbox 360. D:

“Phantasy Star Online 2, the popular multi-player online role playing game, which launched to more than 730,000 players in less than one month in Japan, will be making its Western debut at the show.”
So, if SEGA is already going to make a playable debut of PSO2 at the show, doesn’t this mean SEGA don’t have to wait till 2013 to bring it over here? Still waiting to hear exactly what they HAVE to do to bring it here. All they really have to do is translate the text, which shouldn’t take long at all.

I think you guys are missing the “new” in “new IP”. “New” implies “never before seen”. Ergo, not Shenmue.

At least 1/4 of the 730,000 were players from outside of Japan, FYI. ;D

Would be EPIC if the unannounced title had something to do with Streets of Rage, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Shenmue either, as I missed them back in the DC days.

Hell Yeah! – Wrath of the Dead Rabbit
Jet Set Radio
NiGHTS into dreams…
Phantasy Star Online 2
Sonic Adventure 2
…The world is not full of so much win.
Also for the record my 2cents is ‘new ip’ = project draco.

It says “NEW IP”, so it won’t be Sonic or Yakuza. They are starting a new series. Something simmilar to how they are starting out with Hell Yeah! and may or may not make a sequel.

I hope it is the new Jet Set Radio Future game ! It should be because we the fans have waited so long for a new Jet Set Radio Future game. ” Understand, understand the concept of love ” and make it !

People need to understand that ‘New IP’ means it cannot be a sequal or an existing series… It’s completely new.

I hope to god we get pso2 before 2013 because i have been waiting sooooo long to play, and now that the japanese servers are restricted to japanese ip addresses, ill die waiting. Also i hope to god if they do end up making a new jet set radio, it wont be like future and itll stay more like the first. Sega please help me in my time of need, when all other companies try to force feed us garbage and call it video games.

@Steak McBeef: Even though they added a TOS clause saying that PSO2 should only be played from Japan, players from outside of Japan are still able to play perfectly fine. Actually, the Japanese version of PSU also had a similar clause in the TOS, and there’s been plenty of players from outside of Japan playing there for years.

I’m actually a bit annoyed that I went to PAX in Boston earlier this year now!
I’m from the UK so could only afford one trip out there – and while SEGA’s booth was pretty decent – it just wasn’t as EPIC as this lineup! :0(

Nice to see Set continue with its dedication to making new IPs. They’ve supported more this generation than a lot of publishers combined, add that to great new additions to their existing series and re-releases of the classics, they’ve really been one of the best publishers to follow this gen. Bring on Aliens, new Sonic, JSR, NiGHTS, and this new IP.

OK, seems like a great line-up. That particular unnannounced IP is making me very curious.
Could it be a game based on a licensed property?
Or is it a completely original IP?
Hmmm…

You guys! “New IP” means it’s something you’ve never heard of before, because it’s never existed, because it’s the first of its kind!
I’m certainly looking forward to some innovative racing, some retro throwbacks, and this unusual dead rabbit thing. But, obviously, the new IP has me stumped, and I am interested to hear more about it when the time comes.

Still no Infinity, eh?
I’m running out of reasons to support this company. I guess we’ll never get a decent single player phantasy star title.

@Stumpy Yeah, I wish we could get PSP2I as well.
Something tells me that their excuse is going to be that “Game Culturalization” garbage line they’re pulling on us with PSO2. What does that exactly mean for PSO2 in the west? only time will tell.
http://www.change.org/petitions/president-of-sega-west-break-your-vow-of-silence-on-phantasy-star-online-2-and-localize-it This was the petition sent to SEGA exactly one month before they finally made the western announcement. The OP also clearly states our disappointment that Infinity never got localized yet either.

though it is basically confirmed seeing PS Vita get the same treatment as PS3 and 360. But please confirm the PS Vita version on Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be 8 players online and will be identical to the console versions (don’t mind slghtly toaned down graphics). I’m asking because I had the first one and loved it but it released with modnation close by so i went back and forth. This time I wanna just get LittleBigPlanet Karting on PS3 since it’s exclusive and this on Vita. But I don’t want this to be what lego batman was on vita. Held back for a next handheld (sorry for using a next dev/game not associated with sega). I’m just tryin to be cautious after that and hoping for a kart style racer(car combat)or mk style game with online for vita especially Since the first games better then mk in my opinion
