NiGHTS into dreams… and Sonic Adventure 2 Available in OctoberOne of the questions we get asked most often lately is when the HD remakes of both NiGHTS into dreams… and Sonic Adventure 2 will be coming out. Today, I have an answer! Both games will be available for digital download this October.
On the PlayStation Network, NiGHTS and Sonic Adventure 2 will be available on October 2 for $9.99 USD, and available October 5 for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360.
Sonic fans will also be able to enhance their Sonic Adventure 2 experience with Battle Mode DLC for an additional $3.00 / 240 Microsoft Points. Battle Mode includes more maps and characters from the beloved Gamecube version of the title, including everyone’s favorite mode: Chao Karate. As an added bonus for NiGHTS into dreams…, players who buy the title will receive free access to the dreams from the original 1996 holiday-themed expansion, Christmas NiGHTS - previously only available through a Saturn holiday bundle or from special game and magazine promotions.
See all of the screenshots for Sonic Adventure 2 and NiGHTS into dreams… on our Flickr.

This just seems quite lazy to be honest Sega, like most stuff put out these days for Sonic. Considering he’s suppose to be the company mascot, i really don’t think you care so much anymore.

Good to see that Christmas NiGHTS is a free addition like the original. But yeah, what about Steam? It seems like Steam releases are always being left out of announcements like this, which is disappointing seeing how the PC market has been growing steadily for a while now. We’re always left wondering if the games have been canceled or if it’ll be released on the same date or later on.

I don’t believe sega is releasing these games on pc these will be more than likely 90% ps3 and 360 exclusive I don’t recall sega ever releasing much of thier games on pc I know of phantasy star online mmorpg’s but if they do choose to put it on steam or another game distribution source pc players will have to wait probably a couple months to maybe a year to get these as these days pc games usually the triple A games like AC games and arkham city had to wait 1-3 months before they could play vs console gamers console players will always get the games first unless the game was meant for pc. Glad sega is releasing games from the Saturn it had some good gems still play my Saturn

I find the omission of any references to PC versions of both titles extremely disappointing, since I take it there won’t be a release on the platform.
Considering how most SEGA titles have been receiving PC releases, this seems like a step backwards.
Hopefully the omission was just a mistake.

I’ve been holding onto $11 in my Steam wallet for months now (it was a battle to retain that through the Summer Sale), in anticipation towards NiGHTS. I’ve waited over 8 years to play it due to lack of Saturn, and there’s still no word on the PC side?
I’ve noticed you just stopped saying anything about PC related news for some reason, and that seems like a horrible thing to do. During interviews, trailers, blog posts, facebook posts… it seems like you were able to do it for a couple months, then you somehow lost the terminology…
Please pick up the pace with the PC market; Steam is only a benefit to sales, and these two titles (ok, maybe not NiGHTS for this) could easily hit best selling Steam game of the month. I’m sure a lot more people would buy NiGHTS as well.
Anyways, I hope this actually is coming to Steam and they just didn’t know how to say it… hopefully it’s a dream come true.

@FunktionJCB: I doubt there won’t be a PC version, especially since the latest trailer showed the Steam logo. Also, SEGA has a tendency of hiding the PC version of games for some reason, like Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, the developers demselves confirmed that there’s going to be a PC version, but SEGA still didn’t officially anounced it.

@Kaylee: Don’t count on a Wii version, there’s no way there will be a Wii version of these games. These are digital games, Wii’s internal storage is way too low to support Dreamcast games.

Are you serious? I mean, having to pay for a “DLC” in order to get Battle modes, and yet, no online gameplay?! I mean, this game is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE in Multiplayer mode, how hard can it be to add an online multiplayer mode?! It would be the key for me to buy this remake but since it won’t have online, i’ll stick to my game cube version thank you very much (which btw, can be played ONLINE using Dolphins netplay)

…To those wanting it on the wii, it’d probably be easier for you to ebay/amazon/whatever
the gamecube disc since…you know wii plays cube titles. The only thing you don’t get that was in the original
DC release were limited time excluse downloadable skins among other minor things.

Exciting news, but if it’s not on the PC, I can’t buy it, I don’t have an Xbox360 or PS3, and I’m not gonna spend money on those systems just for those two games. Even though I already have two disks of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, I still wanna buy the game on the computer anyways, as it would just make things a lot easier. My only hopes as far as Sonic Adventure 2 goes is that the Chao system is just like it was in SA2B, because after winning the game, the Chao kept me playing it for years, the AI was amazing, the detail was amazing, I just loved it. I don’t doubt the main game will be great as ever, but without the in-depth Chao system, after winning the game, or even when stuck in the game, there won’t be as much to do, and less to keep one playing the game. Then again, I’m just expressing my opinion, and I’m not sure who all would agree with me, if anyone agrees. NiGHTS will also be amazing, I just know it, even though I hate to say I’ve only played the Wii game. Anyway, I just know they’ll be amazing as far as game-play goes, I honestly hope they’ll be available for the PC, and maybe Sonic Adventure 2 will have a good Chao system too.

SEGA, why do you keep forgetting about the PC gamers? We are modding the hell out of Generations. You could have added support for Steam Workshop and released mod tools, but noooo. Also, the game has issues with v-sync, the game crashes when playing for the leaderboards, and the leaderboards are full of cheaters. Also, only supports 16:9.
How about fixing that?

Heh well I hope that in the case of SA2 at least SEGA will port it to the Playstation Vita as well as the PS3, just like with Jet Set Radio. Sonic Adventure 2 isn’t my favorite Sonic game (in fact, I hate what it did to the series) but its definitely the game that takes the most time to complete and brings back many much-loved gameplay elements from the first game and improves on them. If I had it on my Vita I wouldn’t put it down, particularly if it came with Sonic Adventure as well!

SEGA please could you please put online multiplayer on Sonic Adventure 2, that would be the coolest thing, and would be the best improvement and of course of the HD, it could gain you more money.

Sega….Honestly i question how the hell you think nowadays. If it’s not rushing sonic team on 06 to making it what it is today, it’s an HD port of a GOOD GAME. But requires an extra 3.00$/240MSP Just for a Battle Mode Option. Don’t tell you guy’s are money hungry. =\ If your gonna make something DLC, Make costumes and Extra Stories irrelevant to the Games main Plot, like a post game. I’d abuse Silver like hell if he was DLC,
. But alas it’s too late to do anything about that now ain’t it? -.-

Two request sega:
1. have an online mode on SA2 or then it won’t be any different from back in 2001 + a lot of people are askin’ for it, so I’m sure your fans (including me!) would love to see their friends eat their dirts in multiplayer.
2. Any possible way to put this on PS Vita to kick sonic off on that along with all star racing. Sonic adventure 2 would be epic on ps vita ON THE GO. (aside from PC -_-;)

@ #112 (Name withheld for respect)
Be happy you’re getting Battle Mode at all. These are remakes of the DREAMCAST games. The features added in the Gamecube “Battle” edition weren’t in the original release. Besides, $3.00 is an half-hour’s worth of work. Even on minimum wage… >_>
(I’m just going to ignore that Capcom comment.)

Guys, I’m pretty sure SA2 will come out on steam. I’m so confident because a little while ago they released Jet Set Radio on steam which is apart of the Heritage bundle (including JSR, SA2, and NiGHTS). So don’t loose hope yet!

I’m disappointed because SA2 might be on ps3 store already… I am really hoping that it will be on vita this October because it would just be amazing to see SA2 on a Vita, being able to play anywhere you go. Really want this on my Vita, but wont hack for it.
