Update for NiGHTS into dreams… on PSN and XBLAAttention NiGHTS into dreams… fans! We’ve released a patch for the game on XBLA and PSN with two very important updates. First, we’ve adjusted the controls to allow analog input in 24 directions, which will give you greater control. Second, we’ve changed the drill-dash speed so it aligns with the Saturn version of the game.

I would’ve preferred 360 directions instead of just 24 (like the Saturn version), but I appreciate the gesture just the same.

The game doesn’t feel stiff anymore! It’s so much more fun now! Maybe I WILL feel like replaying this completely once again.
Thanks, SEGA!
Hope you don’t mind me for asking, but would you guys be willing to bring more Nights goodness? As a first time Nights player, I was disappointed to hear that “Sonic into Dreams” content was cut from the game.
Can you bring it back, please? You’ve got the classic Sonic model now, so it wouldn’t be too hard would it?
Thanks anyway!

A genuine thanks goes to Sega for releasing this update, I know most other gaming companies wouldn’t have bothered. The game plays a lot more like the Saturn version now. It no longer feels like you’re fighting against the controls, and this really gives more incentive to try and get a top rank on the leaderboards.

Thank you Sega! I would also like to voice my support for 2 Player mode and other extras being added back. Think of the online head to head action 2 player mode would bring!

Thank you so much, I was absolutely not expecting this and resigned myself to the inferior controls. When SEGA does things right like this, I see a little glimmer of the company that I knew in the 1990s. A company that really cares.
This is pretty much the perfect version of NiGHTS to own now. Let’s be honest, aside from the missing Link Attack from Christmas NiGHTS, everything else that’s missing from this port was disposable anyway. There’s absolutely no excuse to not get this game now (especially on PS3, where it’s criminally cheap). It’s simply one of the best games ever made.

Any news of the PC version? I’ve had my browser’s home page set to http://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=nights+into+dreams ever since the announcement trailer in July. Sucks being a die-hard NiGHTS fan without a PS3 or Xbox.

You just got my money Sega. THANK YOU so much to whoever made this happen. I hoped but did not expect this was going to happen. This is makes Sega look good… being in touch with fan feedback and treating your franchises with respect. I remember when NiGHTS originally came out how Yuji Naka talked about how he wanted to created a game the recreated the sensation of flying. So the way this game feels and controls is so important. When I tried the demo before it looked good but it just felt broken and didn’t really want to buy it. Just got the patch on the demo and now I will happily give you my money.

I’m not sure if this is the proper forum for my comment but hopefully it will get through to the proper authority. That said, is there anyway you could ‘fix’ the level music? After completing all stages in a given dream, NiGHTS is transported through the top of the ideya palace into a loading screen (right before the boss level begins. The music from the dream should stop during this time. However, presently it just bleeds right into the boss music and makes for quite a jarring transition.
I know this is a minor point – but – the game is so beautiful as a piece I art. I think it would e well worth the effort to fix, what is truly, a glitch not found in the original.
Warm regards,
C. W.

^ I believe that was also found in the Japan-only PS2 version, which this game was based on. There are also some complaints about Eliot having a different voice when he performs numerous jumps, and even the sound effect played when pressing start on the title screen is different than the Saturn version. Minor, but there’s a few of them.
Personally I think this is a massive improvement, and it’s nice to see this sort of thing addressed.

That’s a really nice gesture. It’s not as great as the Saturn version, but I think those who know how the Saturn version played have seen the face of God and now nothing else compares.
I’ve heard there are other issues with the game that could be patched, but I think when the Steam version comes out fans can just mod those.

….I just received a wonderful Christmas present! I didn’t know SEGA was my secret Santa!
Thank you so much guys for working on this gem of a game! I can’t tell you how happy I am at this moment but to put it in words the best gift I got this Christmas was my childhood nostalgia brought to the 21st century… Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Thank you SEGA, from the bottom of my heart. I was so excited for the PSN release, but my frustration at the controls caused me to turn away from one of the few games I have ever played repeatedly merely to get a higher score.
Thank you for allowing me to return to a part of my childhood, and share it with my own children.
