Hexagons, based on the screenshot.

You mean a Nintendo Exclusive? You’ve sold out this time SEGA. Fuck this.
Posted by Martin on May 17th, 2013 at 8:22 am
I won’t be able to find out what Sonic will find. It isn’t coming out on the PS3/Vita
I hope they aren’t stopping Sonic games on PS3/Vita completely. Hopefully it is just like the Wii and this deal with Nintendo doesn’t stop new games also coming out on PS3.
Posted by James on May 17th, 2013 at 8:22 am
Nah, he’ll find Doctor Eggman there and do what he does the best.
Posted by MarioSonic on May 17th, 2013 at 8:24 am
@Martin: You can’t be serious. PLEASE tell me you’re joking. You realize this isn’t the first Nintendo exclusive Sonic game, right? Sonic Rush? Rush Adventure? Colors? Pleas tell me you were joking and I was just wasting my time typing.

A Wii U//3DS exclusive game will be found so glad it’s an exclusive
Posted by maRtin on May 17th, 2013 at 8:28 am
I’m also sad that the next big Sonic game will be Nintendo exclusive. I don’t feel like buying a WiiU just for one game
Posted by Noy on May 17th, 2013 at 8:38 am
It seems that Sega has entered an exclusive deal with Nintendo. No more games on other consoles it seems.
I hope it doesn’t stop the Sonic 1 and 2 remasters eventually coming out for PSN.
Posted by James on May 17th, 2013 at 8:39 am
Yeah but the previous Wii games, Story Book games and Unleashed Wii were shit. Colours was great. The fact that all 3 new sonic games are going to be nintendo exclusive is bollocks. And I don’t care about the 2d handheld games as I’m not a big handheld guy. Just a shitty way to shift more Wii U consoles on Nintendo’s part.
Posted by Martin on May 17th, 2013 at 8:40 am
This better come out on PSVita & PS4, I personally don’t mind it missing PS3, but only if it’s on PS4/Vita
Posted by Green on May 17th, 2013 at 8:44 am
Wait it’s Nintendo Exclusive… F U Sega, Ibuy every Sonic game that gets ps3/vita releases and this is what i get -.-
Posted by Green on May 17th, 2013 at 8:45 am
Nintendo exclusive? No thanks, buying a Wii some years ago was already a mistake, no way I’m getting a Wii U.
Posted by ezodagrom on May 17th, 2013 at 8:55 am
Sonic will find a new life?
Posted by Sonic on May 17th, 2013 at 8:56 am
So is this a team effort by Nintendo and Sega or is it just an exclusive deal? Because I’m ready for that team effort.
Posted by Michael on May 17th, 2013 at 8:58 am
There’s a lot of confusion about Iwata’s “Exclusive partnership” comment. Can a member of the blog team offer any clarification on that? This is a partnership to make SOME, but not ALL, Sonic games for the Wii U and 3DS right, similar to Colours and the Storybook series on Wii, right?
Posted by Stu on May 17th, 2013 at 8:59 am
It’s really not that serious. Sonic games have been on Nintendo consoles for over a decade. And the Story book games were “different” Sonic games from the series and Unleashed was a bad port. Colors, which has the same description as Lost World, an action adventure platformer, was fantastic.
And besides, it’s only for 3 titles. So let’s calm down and enjoy the fact that SEGA is STILL making Sonic games at a pretty decent pace instead of complaining about what they’re doing wrong.
Posted by steve on May 17th, 2013 at 8:59 am
HURRAY TO OWNERS OF THE WII U!
As for people surprised… really? REALLY?
Sonic fans should KNOW BY NOW.
Nintendo always has a couple Sonic exclusives, and the other consoles share their own exclusives. To get them all you need 1 nintendo console, and 1 of the others.
That said with Wii U’s power… it wouldn’t surprise me if Wii(U) got them all 😀
Posted by Kolma on May 17th, 2013 at 9:01 am
@Martin What type of logic is that? Just because one or two of the exclusive Wii games (Unleashed was multiplatform, doesn’t count) weren’t great, exclusivity is bad? As mentioned above, the handheld games were good (2D side-scrolling rocks), as was Colors, and Nintendo getting more exclusives means we’ll get more great games, especially now that SEGA’s last two games (and a half, with the daytime Unleashed stages) have shown they’ve finally gotten their s*** together. Remember, Sonic Colors was the first console “return-to-2D” Sonic game AND it was a Wii exclusive (and DS), which just goes to show how creativity thrives when SEGA and Nintendo team up.
This exclusivity deal can only be a good thing, and if you’re too blind to see that it means only one thing; you don’t own a Wii U, and therein lies your problem.
Posted by AbuJaffer on May 17th, 2013 at 9:03 am
YAAY!!! again: YAAY!!! Ok totally worht gettin’ up early for! I was just thinkin’ about how there should be news pretty soon about another Sonic game ^^.
Posted by Tanya The Hedgehog on May 17th, 2013 at 9:09 am
Sega, this is a really bad business move. Nobody who doesn’t own one already is going to buy a Wii U, with all the other third parties jumping ship. This is the same type of bad business decision that ended the Shenmue franchise by putting it on the original Xbox, when no one owned one of those. Your fanbase are on PS3 and 360, probably a little more on the PS3. It’s bad enough you guys sent Bayonetta 2 out to die. Don’t ruin more of your franchises this way.
Posted by Charles Lupula on May 17th, 2013 at 9:12 am
WHY DO YOU ALWAYS MAKE SUPER COOL GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS SO MYSTERIOUS?!?!
Posted by Soloya on May 17th, 2013 at 9:14 am
Charles Lupula is right, the Wii U isn’t that popular in Europe (aka where Sonic sells best) to begin with.
Posted by Knucklehead on May 17th, 2013 at 9:15 am
People who are saying this is a bad business move have clearly never taken a business class before.
Besides, Sonic: Lost World, Sonic & Mario at the Winter Olympics and 1 other Sonic game (probably a 3DS game) would be the 3 exclusive titles.
Oh wait, that’s the way Sonic has been released on Nintendo consoles for the last 5 years.

Posted by samuel on May 17th, 2013 at 9:23 am
Unless this is a good Sonic/Mario crossover (which seems highly unlikely, but that odd world reminds me of Mario…), I’m not getting a Wii U for this.
Posted by Thecooperman on May 17th, 2013 at 9:27 am
Guys. With all the bumps aside, SEGA is partnering up with Nintendo. NINTENDO, I say. This should boost their longevity by over 9000 HP! As upset as I am about the exclusive deal, I think this is good business. SEGA had a Sonic game hiatus in 2012. I personally think this will be an awesome business venture for both SEGA and Nintendo. The next few games will be on consoles I’ll NEVER be able to own, but gosh-dang-it this is wonderful news! It’s about time, SEGA! Make sure these next games ROCK~!
Posted by Lady Atemu on May 17th, 2013 at 9:30 am
People do realize they’ve done exclusives with Nintendo before right? They’re only doing three games with Nintendo in this deal , calm down and learn to listen.
Posted by Chillidogz on May 17th, 2013 at 9:39 am
Looks like “Sonic Galaxy”
Posted by Andrew G. on May 17th, 2013 at 9:49 am
Just THREE games exclusive to Nintendo’s systems. After that, or during it, Ps3 and Xbox would be getting something as well.

What I will waitng for this game: Dust Hill, the “R2″ zone from Sonic CD, Hidden Palace, Genocide City, Wood Zone, etc etc. This is the real “Lost World” from Sonic

The mere mention of console exclusivity for my childhood favorite Sonic the Hedgehog series on Nintendo platforms, overpriced and inferior hardware together, has left me disgusted. What about taking into consideration the thousands of fans on PC and iOS who have raved and paid for it? From here on out, I will gladly boycott the purchase of all Sega games until further notice and I will likewise sign the petition ( https://www.change.org/petitions/sega-stop-exclusive-partnership-with-nintendo#share ) as well. I strongly encourage all to follow the same route to protect and preserve the real meaning of the Sonic franchise.
Posted by Hifihedgehog on May 17th, 2013 at 11:27 am
I just question the wisdom of SEGA releasing one of their best selling franchises on a console with the lowest install base of any current console on the market. At least with the Wii games that console had sold better than its rivals, it made sense to try and get in on the action. Now the Wii U is struggling and even EA have recently announced their withdraw of support for the console. I can see these ‘exclusive’ games heading to PS3 & 360 when they fail to sell (well, the games that don’t also contain Mario). Colour me disappointed SEGA, I don’t have a Wii U and can’t afford one for the sake of Sonic games.
Posted by Paul_Str337 on May 17th, 2013 at 11:27 am
SEGA only care about sonic… Where is Jet Set Radio FUTURE??????????
You Boss of SEGA must be fired all ready!!!!
Posted by Cokkie on May 17th, 2013 at 11:58 am
YAAAAAY!!! 😀 Sonic Colors was amazing on the Wii, I’m hoping for a similar experience with the upcoming Wii-U exclusive ^_^
The screenshot is interesting, it shows Sonic, Tails, and the original/classic Tornado. I can’t tell at this distance if the models for Sonic & Tails are classic too, but either way I’m a happy bunny.
Thank you SEGA!
Posted by Caitash on May 17th, 2013 at 12:28 pm
You are all jackasses.
If it was exclusive to PS3/PS4 or 360/next you would praise God.
Screw all of you. Sonic sells BEST on Nintendo consoles and it is GREAT to see him Nintendo exclusive again just like the Adventure 1 and 2 and Advance 1 and 2 and 3 day’s.
Butthurt bunch of Sony and Microsoft fags.

I Been Waiting For The New Sonic Game And Here It Is Thinks Sega!
Posted by Shawndell Rivers on May 17th, 2013 at 3:58 pm
Looks awesome even though I was hoping for SA3…
Lol, and wait what about the trailer?
Posted by Sonic52789 on May 17th, 2013 at 5:17 pm
Wait a second, something doesn’t add up. Usually when SEGA announces the next big Sonic game, they post saying “ANNOUNCING SONIC ______” and they also release a teaser trailer.
SEGA has been sending us clues all year for SA3, it’s not like them to throw us off like this.
This might be a Mario/Sonic crossover, but we will see because SEGA still has one more game and I still am hoping for the day SEGA announces Sonic Adventure 3.
SEGA is this the next main Sonic game or just a spin-off?
Posted by sonic52789 on May 17th, 2013 at 5:37 pm
Well, this came out of left field, a partnership with nintendo…. While i own a 360, i feel happy about this. I REALLY wanted a new game that was cross-platform, but its nice to see that the blue blur is still going. Besides, getting a Wii U can’t be THAT bad…
Whatever your opinion about this is, here’s to hoping that this gives good games for the series.
When the next Smash Brothers is announced, ill buy a Wii U. Simple enough.

Posted by Kneecaps on May 17th, 2013 at 10:42 pm
Hehe I think this is the hint for the next actual Sonic game (multiplatform) and the Nintendo deal everyone is all freaked out about is gonna end up in a similar situation to the Wii v. PS3 and 360, once the new consoles come out since the nintendo console will (once again) be obsolete. Have some exculsives catered to the junky underpowered hardware so that they are still good games (like Colors), then release the actual game (which I think this is) on the real consoles when they are released.
Posted by SuperSonicFan on May 17th, 2013 at 11:34 pm
this would be a great way to bring things back like the chao gardens or the satam charcters
Posted by shadowtristan99 on May 18th, 2013 at 7:31 am
This is terrible news. Sonic fans who bought Generations HD deserve better than to be cast aside for a filthy relationship with Nintendo. Makes me sick to my stomach.
Posted by Franklin on May 18th, 2013 at 11:09 am
This piece of concept looks beautiful and being a Nintendo fan, myself I’m very pleased with this news. I really like how they are making Sonic games fun, light-hearted and comical lately as well. I think I’m a Sonic fan now!
Making this Wii U exclusive this year is pretty risky but
I think I’ve already seen signs of strong buisness strategy:
I’ve noticed how it’s Nintendo who announced this exclusively on their show instead of SEGA. And this immediately grabbed the attention of videogame journalists and critics.
Sonic Generations, even though it came with a trailer and clearer details, was not flaunted on gaming websites as much as this game is on the first day of this announcement.
I’ve never seen a Sonic announcement get this popular on its first announcement, really. See for yourself. This might be one of the more popular Sonic game announcements to date.
And we’re just talking about an announcement here.
Nintendo announcing this game on Nintendo Direct is already such a clever move that it worked. And this is only the beginning. I think this game will be a success, it’s announcement has gone VERY popular on the first day and all they showed was one image. Imagine what can be done later.
Posted by 745423 on May 18th, 2013 at 12:35 pm
Well, I’m happy to hear about THREE new games (though I suspect the third is just the DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics…) And they’re actually on systems I have, instead of smart phones! (stupid Sonic Jump & Sonic Dash…I will not buy a phone just to play games! >:( )

Posted by Captain Rehab on May 19th, 2013 at 10:44 am
I hope it’s Dr. Eggman
Posted by Rashaad on May 20th, 2013 at 11:21 am
This is fantastic! I hope this is the open world game the franchise has needed for some time now. As for all the haters: shut up. If you love something, you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get it. If that means buying a Wii U, then go buy one. If it’s not worth it to you, than the only thing you have to complain about is yourself. You rock, SEGA. Don’t let these morons get in the way of that.
Posted by SonicProfessor on May 20th, 2013 at 5:08 pm
I heard about this from Belenaproductions, who is working on a Sonic and Jurassic Park crossover movie. When I heard about a new Sonic game called A Lost World, I was a little confused. lol
Meh. Nothing here to excite me. And the fact that it’s a Wii U exclusive turns me off a bit.
Posted by NixMaster on May 20th, 2013 at 11:19 pm
That’s great news! I can’t wait to see what this new sonic exclusive games are for the wiiu. Also to all the haters on here you need to grow up and stop complaining about nintendo getting exclusive games from sega. You didn’t see nintendo fans complaining about not get Sonic Generations on a nintendo console. Xbox 360 and Ps3 fanboys are the worst for complaining about there system isn’t getting a game, if you want to really play that game bad enough you go out and buy the system that the game came out for and get over all the complaining about things.

Posted by troy on May 21st, 2013 at 8:23 am
Q: What will Sonic find?
A: Not his 3rd Adventure, the game that fans have been BEGGING for years. Also the game SEGA has been getting people’s hopes/suspicions up with the SA2 statue, re-releasing SA & SA2, and the Sonic Boom conference where they asked if they want Chao World?
SEGA why aren’t you releasing Sonic Adventure 3? You know everybody wants the cool/edgy Sonic back. Not the cartoony childish Mario tryhard that was in Sonic Colors. Sonic fights a faris wheel and then goes on a planet of cookies and cakes. Seriously SEGA?? That doesn’t sound like the Sonic I know
Posted by Sonic52789 on May 21st, 2013 at 6:07 pm
I understand that a lot of people are mad that this is exclusively on Nintendo… but it isn’t like this is the first time.
I’m excited for this. I don’t have a Wii u yet but I was planning on getting one later on in the year anyway.
Posted by ChaoticOverdrive on May 22nd, 2013 at 9:14 pm
This is completely unnecessary and flat out unfair to people who don’t own a Wii U and have been waiting all this time for a new Sonic game on their consoles. I hope this game bombs and Sega dies already, they deserve it.

Not only does it look much worse than the beautiful games before it but it also came tot he poit where it’s so simplistic and childish in it’s design that it makes me want to puke. Where is the Sonic I knew and loved?! Where is the game that doesn’t look like a cartoon for infants with stupid jokes about salad in underwear? What’s wrong with you SEGA?!
Posted by ArtFenix on June 2nd, 2013 at 4:13 am
This game and Nintendo is bullshit. First off, these solo sonic kiddy fests need to stop, and not everyone around here likes to suck Nintendo’s dick, so I’m not getting that broke ass WiiU for this game that don’t do shit outside of what past Sonic games already did, but better. Sonic has become nothing more but then a cash cow now, pandering to nostalgia fags, Nintards, and kids, but the kids are off playing more mature games because Sega of Japan don’t know how to make Sonic COOL anymore, so that markets out the window.
You sheep can can now continue giving head to Nintendo now, not giving a shit about what made sonic popular.
