Announcing Sonic Boom and Summer of Sonic 2013Sonic fans… get ready for an amazing August! Summer of SonicWe’re back, and this time we’re all powered up! We are pleased to officially announce the Summer of Sonic 2013 event. SoS 2013 will be held on Saturday 3rd August 2013, and will take place at the Westminster Central Hall in London, UK. Expect a full day’s worth of Sonic-based fun and entertainment… with a twist! You might have noticed that Sonic is sharing the spotlight with another character on the Summer of Sonic website. That’s because, to mix things up a bit, we’ve decided to introduce a theme to this year’s convention. And the theme is – you guessed it – Metal Sonic & Badniks. The robotic doppelgänger of our speedy blue hero, and the collective metallic minions of Dr Eggman, have the spotlight to themselves for 2013. But what does that mean? Well, while we can’t give too much away at the moment, suffice it to say that many of our events and activities will be Metal Sonic or Badnik related. Budding artists and cosplayers will be pleased to know our contests will be making a return, and we will reveal more details in the coming weeks…so get started on those costumes! Don’t worry, though, you won’t necessarily need a Metal Sonic or Badnik themed costume to enter the cosplay this year… although it might help! We will soon release details on how you can snag yourself tickets for the convention, so until then, stay excited, and let’s enjoy the Road to Summer of Sonic 2013 together! Sonic BoomWe’re so excited to announce details for Sonic Boom 2013! Who: You! That’s right — Sonic Boom is changing cities again, and we’re coming to the midwest this year! One of the things we hear from a lot of fans is that the cool stuff always happens in San Francisco, LA, and New York, and never close to them. As someone who grew up in the midwest, I totally remember how that feels. So we decided to have Sonic Boom in a different city this year, and we hope that you’ll join us there! Many of the things you loved about last year’s event will be back, including the trivia contest and the costume contest. So get to memorizing Sonic facts and start making your amazing costumes! We’ll have more details on tickets (cost, on-sale date, etc), hotels, event activities, and more in the weeks to come. For now, mark your calendars, get excited about Sonic Boom 2013, and keep checking here for more information.

Darn…we’ll be on holiday in Blackpool on that day so I can’t go. This’ll be the third year in a row that circumstances have conspired to prevent me from going…it sucks, but there’s nothing I can do.

WHOOOOOOTTTT!!!!! Aside from new Sonic games, Sonic Boom is one of my favorite things to hear about! Glad it is going to a different city this year so Sonic fans from all over NA can attend. Too bad SanFran is 8 hours West of me, and St. Louis is 8 hours east of me. :-/ Oh well, hopefully I can go when it comes to Denver. 😀 Still gonna watch on YouTube of course though!

Hey!
Is the Sonic Boom date subject to change? I need to ask off work. Also, this is the third Sonic Boom, right?

Btw, if anyone lives in Colorado, can you pick up an extra bag goodies and drop it off at my house? Those ‘Official Sonic Merchandise’ bags with all the hats, pins, stickers, and t-shirts always make me jealous. 😛

Sonic Boom 2012 was great fun. I just hope you get someone more passionate about gaming to host it than last year (or at least be really good at faking it). It was pretty obvious that the hot blond lady you had as a host last year was not into it at all and didn’t really want to be there.

As someone who knows more about sonic then anyone I’ve ever met, it deeply pains me to live all the way in Nevada! It’s too bad none of the large events come to LasVegas.

Nice the one year I can go and it’s moved to mid-west.
Couldn’t make it for the San Diego one.
At least I made it to the L.A. one, which was the first ever! So can’t complain.

It’d be nice to have Sonic Boom in New York next year. I don’t think there has been an east coast one yet…

Well… I’ll honestly admit, I’m kinda bummed because of how far it is in general…BUT looking on the bright side, I got to enjoy it for the first two years so I can’t complain, plus it’s time for other fans to get to experience it too!
I had something really great planned this year too (no one’s ever done a Sonic cosplay like I’m working on now, I can guarantee that, even more outrageous than my Mecha last year…and albeit more complete lol).
But if anything, I’ll keep an eye out and see what happens. =D It better be at good as the previous years or better!

Midwest, eh? A little better I guess. Kinda wish you guys would also do something around the Florida region where I live, though I know that sounds kind of selfish. Maybe next time.
I’m willing to try and head over there if I ever get the chance.

Seriously, what kind of event announces their date just over a mere month in advance?
That’s cool that there’s finally a date known, but being in the Netherlands, this is WAY too short notice for me to book my travel to England, as well as my days off work — especially without the guarantee of actually being able to obtain a ticket for the event on top of that.
I mean, if last year was any indication, there’s a very real chance of simply not being quick enough to register, and I’d rather not take the risk of booking everything only to find that I won’t be able to make it to SoS anyway.
I really, really wish Sega hadn’t been dragging their feet for so long in making this information known, because I was looking forward to attending again this year as I have the last 4,
Hope to be there again next year, at least — if you guys announce the date for it somewhat reasonably in advance, anyway.

Darn, can’t make it. But I had the good fortune of being able to go to both the L.A. one and San Diego one, so I’m content. Had so much fun at those two events, seeing Crush 40 live two times was freakin’ awesome.

And to think I had started planning a trip out west solely around checking this concert out. As a St. Louis resident, I am ridiculously excited for this. Time to browbeat all of my friends into coming. Thank you so much for this Sega, this made my week.
It’s great to have more stuff like this coming to St. Louis, it gets frustrating to see coastal cities getting repeat visits of things like Zelda Symphony when Midwestern fans have slimmer pickings. We got Distant Worlds last year, Protomen have made a concert here a yearly recurrence, lots of exciting things.
Oh, as for it being called Midwest despite being in the middle of the country, it dates back to the early days of the United States when the country’s border stopped at the Mississippi river. At the time that land was referred to as ‘Northwest Territory’, and over time the Midwest definition stuck with an emphasis as a halfway point to the west rather than truly being part of the west.
But anyhow, thanks again Sega!

Excuse me? What’s the reason for waiting until THIS close to announce Sonic Boom’s change of location? Sega, the decision to wait this long is WRONG! IT’s about as bad as what Microsoft was originally intending for the Xbox One. You should have announced it much further back, like AT LEAST SIX MONTHS before the actual event. You’ve alienated a lot of people this day by choosing to wait until what amounts as the LAST MINUTE to announce the change of venue. There’s people who have been planning for MONTHS for this event, and you’ve just wrecked their plans. I wasn’t going to attend anyways because I couldn’t afford the time or money for it, but I’m angry because at least one person who was going to attend is a good friend of mine. And now she can’t because of this last minute announcement. I thought you cared more than Capcom does about Mega Man, but I see that you don’t, and want to kill the convention. I hope that it dies this year with the lowest attendance in record for this choice.

Why can’t us people sort of down south have something like this EVEN ONCE?! We’re NOT too stupid for Sonic. Bring the next one to Western North Carolina in Hendersonville! Plz!! My 12 year old son is mad at you guys for putting such an awesome event so far away every year. My husband also hates traveling, so he will probably never be able to go to Summer of Sonic. Ever. Also, old people stink because they hate fun…

I disagree about the NYC part as the only time they come is the yearly NYCC exhibit, save for last year for the non Sonic related was the Alien vs Predator game which was at the front of the show floor instead of inside the show floor.
If anything, I reeaaaallllly do hope the next Sonic Boom or Summer of Sonic be held in NYC not just at NYCC. Bring Jun Senoue too!

If there was a bit more notice I probably would have been able to go and make a small vacation out of going to STL. It would’ve been nice to be able to attend it 3 years in a row. Too bad this year you guys will be out of luck on getting to see my newer Eggman costume that will get me better than 2nd place in the costume contest =P
