Sonic Team Artist Kazuyuki Hoshino at Sonic Boom 2013It’s time to grab some Time Stones! For the first time, Sonic Team artist Kazuyuki Hoshino will be joining us as a special guest at Sonic Boom 2013.
Hoshino-san is the creator of Metal Sonic, and is also credited as the creator of Amy Rose. He is responsible for a whole host of design work across the ages including work on Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes, just to name a few of the titles he has worked on across nearly 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog. NiGHTS fans attending should also be excited, as Hoshino-san was also a crucial character designer for the original NiGHTS into Dreams title, as well as the lead character designer for NiGHTS: Journey Into Dreams. Hoshino-san will also be joining Iizuka-san on-stage to take part in a live Q&A session, and once again we invite you all to send us your questions! If you want to submit a question, here’s what you’ll need to do:
Sonic Boom 2013 is taking place on August 10th, 2013 at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster. You can also join our Facebook page for the event to meet other Sonic fans attending!

Was Metal Sonic supposed to be a one time villain? Why was Amy’s redesign in 1999 the most drastic when compared to the others? Appearance wise, who is your favorite character in the series overall?
Also thank you for making two of my personal favorite characters.

Fans usually think that Amy Rose was an unneeded character for the Sonic games due to her just “Chasing sonic around.” Do you think Amy has grown (personality and design wise) when she first appeared in Sonic CD to the modern games we see today?

When Sonic Generations was created, was there any more plans for DLC other than the Casino Night Zone Pinball mini game? Or were there any plans to explain how Modern Eggman and Classic Eggman got back to their original times?

Metal sonic is my favorite character from the sonic univers. I litterally buy games just because he’s in them! The last sonic game I got was sonic 4 act 2 just because you were actually able to play as him! Will we be seeing more metal sonic in up comming games? Maybe in lost world or even a whole new sonic game all together?

In Sonic CD, in the Sound Test menu there are pictures you can find when you enter a specific code, and there are these 2 pictures that are weird and disturbing, one picture is a big muscle sonic picture and a disturbing creepy sonic picture with japan words, question is how did they get there, who made them, what do they mean, and was there a purpose!?!?!?

1) Why do we never see Amy and Metal Sonic interact anymore, like in sonic generations in the ending when all the rivals and characters were there (I know he was destroyed in the end of it but still).
2) Why has Amy lost her way since SA2 and turned into a psychopath with no social character interaction beyond sonic since Sonic ’06?

In Sonic Adventure 2 HD, a behind the scenes video was shown telling players how you got the idea of the stage, City Escape. Will Sonic Lost World, or any future Sonic titles have any behind the scenes videos? I think many fans really enjoyed the Sonic Adventure 2 HD video, as I did.

In the PlayStation 3, Xbox-360, and PC versions of Sonic Adventure 2, a behind the scenes video was unlocked explaing how the idea of the stage, City Escape was created. Are there any plans on including behind the scenes specials in Sonic Lost World or any future Sonic games? I believe fans really enjoyed the Sonic Adventure 2 special. It would be interesting to hear more behind the scenes videos in the future.

Metal Sonic and Amy Rose are two of my most favorite characters of the franchise, but Metal hasn’t been seen in the main games until recently and a lot of fans always seem to complain about Amy. Are there or have you been considering plans to bring Metal Sonic back into the main games? And might there be any possibilities towards more character development from Amy Rose? I love Amy but would like to see her become a little more independent and controlled around Sonic. So is there anything you can comment on related to those two characters?

Dear Hoshino-san,
I always liked Amy Rose since I was a child, and still adore her now. My questions are probably casual but hopefully they’re thought-provoking. My question, do Sonic team or SEGA have any plans to give driven character development for the supporting characters, Amy included, besides Sonic within the story plot for Sonic games? And will Amy ever become super? Because she’s a hedgehog and all the male hedgehogs have superpowers… it’ll be cool if she was on the ‘super hedgehog’ agenda too. P.S when will receive the SonAmy moment Sonic Team kept teasing us with? We need SonAmy moments! Thank you

What inspired you to create Amy? ( Both modern and Sonic CD) Also like the other fans of Sonic CD I myself was wondering about the three hidden pictures the cute looking one (translates you are cool!), Macho Sonic (Sonic combined with batman) and Fun is forever (someone’s head on sonics body) was it for laughs or was there really a secret message we should worry about?

I loved Amy Rose ever since I first saw her in Sonic X (I wasn’t born when Sonic CD came out, and I didn’t heard of Sonic the Hedgehog until 2010) . But anyways, Amy has always been my favorite female Sonic character, and I love her redesign, it’s cute. But here’s the one thing about Amy that I don’t like now, her voice. She sounds like Minnie Mouse, and I hear this from almost everybody. I like Cindy Robinson as a voice actress (because she voiced Tonya in an An American Tale movie), but she does not make a good Amy voice. This is just my opinion. But what do you like about Amy’s new voice?
