If you’ve been following our updates over the last two days, you might have guessed something special was coming. You might also have guessed it was House of the Dead related, and might even have guessed it was something more. Today is the day, when you put down the guns and start your wholesome and totally educational trek through House of the Dead: Overkill, keyboard on the ready.
Not familiar with Typing of the dead? The game originally launched in the Japanese arcades and quickly made it’s way to a home console release on the Dreamcast. For those that picked up a keyboard for the Dreamcast, they were in for a treat – the entire game was completely reworked to play entirely through the keyboard. It’s actually a wonderfully simple yet totally satisfying experience – the same frantic light gun experience is very similar to desperately typing phrases to push back the mutant threat. What really made the game shine was the crazy phrases and words it threw at you, which got increasingly crazier as the game went on.
Typing of the Dead: Overkill follows in the footsteps of the original Typing of the Dead game, while adapting to the Overkill style of gameplay. Nine stages, combos for high score, leaderboards, achievements, unlockables, mini-games, crazy phrases and a whole lot of bad language. Like, a lot of bad language.
But wait – there’s more!
The original House of the Dead: Overkill is also included in the £14.99/$19.99/€17.99 price. Best of all, Typing of the Dead: Overkill launches at 50% off for a limited time!
