Its a really nice idea for a DLC level. but it actually saddens me seeing Sonic become Mario. But well… There are times when you have to hide beneath the wings of your ultimate rival in order to keep living. I just hope that Sonic will be able to stand proud on his own, without any consept similarities with other games, without any help to save himself go bankrupt, without building “alliences” with his rivals and most importantly, without having to look like a Mario game. Seriously, we had wisps in colors, and for one time only addition, they were cool. now theyre mushrooms of Sonic. They just appeared without any story behind in Lost World. I wont even talk about the similarity of Galaxy and LW. But seriously, a Mario (excuse me, Yoshi) level, with Mario’s coins and Mario’s enemies??? Im sorry SEGA, but I have to say I’m disappointed. Thats just far beyond the line which Sonic should not have crossed with his games..
I certainly hope you guys can come up with something more like Sonic with the next game.
Once again, its not that I dont like the game, its great, but it doesnt feel Sonic.

SEGAAAAA~~~!!! YOU GUYS ARE WONDERFUL!! THIS IS LIKE THE ULTIMATE XMAS GIFT TO ME!! And you went with elements from Yoshi’s Island AND Yoshi’s Story! The music is beautiful and nostalgic! The Spring Ball sound effect is perfect! And kicking Shy Guys into Piranha Plants! HA HA! THAT WAS PRICELESS!! It’s great Sonic is getting more friends from other worlds visiting his own (in this case, the Yoshies!) I just hope Eggman doesn’t get any ideas! hahaha Just kidding!
Really though! Thank you SEGA for doing your part in making this DLC possible! You made one Sonic/Yoshi/Mario fan a Super Happy one!

Can’t find it on the world map either… It should be right of the circus in Windy Hill but it’s not showing, no matter what I try… We had the same BS with the NiGHTS DLC but I guess there was no lesson learned here..

This is stupid… I dont even understand such a crossover. Id rather just see a 3D yoshi’s island game. Better yet… How about a chao stage? Keep it sonic. Forget this partnership stuff, its lame

See, Sega, THIS is what the fans want to see! Do you realize how long we’ve waited to see some proper crossovers between the Sonic and Mario franchises? Nobody asked for a sub-par collection of Olympics-themed mini-games; everybody wants to see Mario and Sonic running through each other’s worlds.
Keep this up, guys!

Coming from a fan of the series since the very beginning, this is a wonderful addition to the Sonic series. I will always welcome Mario characters into the Sonic franchise. Knowing full well that the inspiration for Sonic was credited to Mario, so I don’t understand why people are having a conniption over this. Also, it’s free! What a kind thing to do for your fans during the holiday season! I’m loving these crossovers by the way! First Megaman, then Yoshi! What’s next? I wouldn’t mind seeing a Megaman crossover zone/level like we all hoped for. Granted, they are both in Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS, so I guess I could let that game fulfill my dream of seeing them co-existing in each others universes haha. Perhaps the next DLC could be a crossover with Mario or with any other Nintendo exclusive. I know people here are appalled over something that should be considered a pretty awesome combination! I like what you’re doing with the DLC, keep it up guys!
Also, I’m sure I’m going to get flak for this, but if you ever get the urge to create an updated Chao garden complete with new animals, abilities and transformations (jk, people would be livid lol just the new animals and abilities) I won’t mind if you decide to reopen that classic little mode in a Sonic game. Also, I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the hard work you’ve done over the years. It hasn’t gone unappreciated. PS, make more of Sonic’s friends playable again, I miss those guys. Anyways, thanks again for the wonderful DLC! Keep burning way past cool SEGA!

In my opinion, this is something with a bittersweet taste. All of a sudden, a new DLC is announced and launched featuring a character from another franchise. Frankly, I don’t see the connection between Sonic and Yoshi, save perhaps their appearance in Super Smash Bros. games. Don’t get me wrong, this is amazing! I love playing the level and seeing both characters together. It’s just a bit weird and unexpected.

This genuinely bothers me.
I do not like the style or the focus of Sonic Lost World much to begin with, but this is the kind of stuff that just proves SEGA does not believe in their own brands or talent anymore. This was designed specifically *not* to appeal to fans of the franchise, why would or should it have ever even been considered? More to come too? Great. Throw away money on new content that appeals to people who will not be buying future games and will likely get this used or massively on sale to begin with. The same can be said for the majority of extra and core content in the likes of Racing Transformed. Crossovers are one thing, purposely going against the core values of the IP and selling out is another.
This is not even based off of Yoshi’s Island, instead it is based on Yoshi’s Story which is literally considered one of Nintendo’s worst games ever. So what, is the Zelda level going to be based on the CD-i games or something? Is Mario going to have a Sonic 06 level?
Horrifically stupid idea, and this is coming from someone who did not mind stuff like the werehog, Shadow with a gun, fishing or even tedious collectables in past games in many degrees. It will only damage and scatter the fanbase further apart than it already is (a mighty task, somehow achieved!). I just do not know what to think of this company anymore.

You know… reactions have been nice and split around depending on where you read your information.
The way things look, to anyone that has been “passionately” against the idea from this outside of Olympics (which has sold well enough) and the existence of Super Smash Bros. (self explanatory), the general consensus is “This isn’t the SEGA I used to know!”
…And they’d be right, it isn’t the SEGA they used to know. The company itself has changed and evolved to still remain relevant to the industry today. (Because people forget they do more than Sonic at times.)
Not everyone’s going to agree with their choices, and that’s alright.
On the same level however, saying things like “This isn’t what the fans want!” …well now you’re just throwing around assumptions. Because considering the millions of fans out there around the world, the word of an outside handful of seemingly a few hundred, or even a few thousand, isn’t enough to shake the spectrum outside of the subconscious message “This is not what ‘I’ want.”
If it does or doesn’t work out, the numbers will show and they’ll plan accordingly. However at this time, I don’t see how people are so surprised considering more likely than not that Nintendo probably funded a decent chunk of the development.
Not to mention, it IS free content. A trial in itself that’s being offered and no expense. Does that automatically make it “great”? In all honestly, nope. While it doesn’t mean it’ll be inherently bad either, that’s being left up to the player to decide should they choose to take advantage of it.
Selling out? I wouldn’t say so. I just see a company trying to make sure they can survive during the times and still provide a product, while trying to lose less money with trials like this vs. incompletely built stand-alone games.
Those who enjoy it, hey fine and dandy, ride on~
Those that don’t, you’re welcome to that as well, just don’t assume your opinion is “everybody’s” opinion.
As it stands though, Sonic’s been through worse, and survived when if anyone else, would’ve crumbled away. SEGA’s adjusting in its own way, and if we’re lucky, maybe some points will be given a nod from Nintendo in order for the company and the franchise to survive longer.
Good luck~

This is the announcement which predestinated Sonic future to die or to be taken over by Nintendo.
First of all, I’m NOT a HATER or FLAMER (some of you know me very well) and I’m still (and will always be) a Tailsfan. But you can’t ignore the facts anymore, Sonic is going downwards.
After reading the announcement I thought like “Is Sega trolling us?” and “Am I wrong or is today 1. April (Aprils Fool Day)?”.
I don’t have anything against Nintendo or Mario characters (especially Yoshi; I find him rather cute) as well as I don’t have anything against a crossover. But adding a Mario/Yoshi Level as a DLC to a Sonic game is too much.
All over the world Sonic fans are asking for more playable character and a better gameplay style, and instead of adding more playable characters or at least adding a funny level they added a Nintendo level; It’s like a slap in the faces of the fans.
But this wasn’t the first time! They allready did this when they released Sonic Unleashed and made a Werehog playable instead of other characters. It’s just like SEGA doesn’t care for other characters! Nintendo however makes other characters playable and give them their own game (for example “Luigis Bros”) or like in Mario 3D World (Wii U) there are more playable characters; while they’re not top-sellers they sell much better than SEGA games at the moment.
Now let’s have a look at some facts:
1 – SEGA is going downhill since Sonic the Hedgehog aka Sonic 06 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 – Allthough they have recovered a bit since Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations this is just a drop in the bucket.
2 – SEGA has discharged many people last year and has even closed it’s sub company in Germany and some others countries. They also scrapped some games and wanted to concentrate more on mobile games.
3 – SEGA has made a contract with Nintendo (which seems like a desperate act) and have announced 3 games for Nintendo Consoles – 2 of them have been allready released and have a very bad criticsm (62 out of 100 points) and have sold very bad (rank 40th on Wii U games)
4 – SEGA ignored many fans asking for other playable characters as well as constructive criticsm and stated at Summer of Sonic 2012 that they’re going to concentrate on Solo Sonica only.
Well, this is probably the point I’ll stop buying SEGA games (except if Tails will be playable again or if there will be Tails solo game) and stop supporting SEGA. I also won’t recommend Sonic games any longer to friends and stop being a SEGA or Sonic however I will stay a being a Tailsan forever from the bottom of my heart <3

You guys are misguided if you think you speak for all the fans. Free crossover DLC and all you complain about is how “Sega sold out this isn’t Nintendo”. You sound childish. While I too wish they made a sonic game like Adventure this free DLC isn’t the travesty the haters want you to believe it is. Luckily you people are nothing more than a vocal minority.

I love the Yoshi idea, but I totaly agree with Furianu. There are many other things that would have been more awesome especially other characters.
There are a few current Sonic games with other characters. Like Sonic dash and Sega & Sonic Racing. This definately gives me some hope that Sega will try it with a big Sonic game again sooner or later. But I was hoping it to be sooner.
Sonic & All stars racing transformed is definately big, but not a Sonic game. It’s the best kart racing game there is in my opinion though. There definately are annoying glitches but it’s easy to forgive them for the awesome gameplay. They’re still adding characters to the PC game and I’m really waiting for more Sonic characters!
I’ll keep supporting Sonic though no matter the games, and I support any Sega game I like (Which isn’t much; too bad that Bayonetta is now a Nintendo thing…). This supporting is limited to the platforms I have/get… (I want more PC/Steam Sonic Games Sega!) And I’ll continue saving up Sonic statues, figures, plushies and comics. Sonic is what got me into gaming, and I became so passionate with gaming that it changed who I am. I’ll keep loving him even if I have to facepalm at some of Sega’s decisions.
