Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX: Beyond the Music!

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX

Hey everyone! We’re super excited to bring you all some information about Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX for the Nintendo 3DS. More than simply a Miku-based rhythm game, Project Mirai DX blends traditional rhythm game elements with companion-based events, simple creativity tools, and sharable customization, making it the ultimate Hatsune Miku experience!
As expected of a Miku game, Project Mirai DX comes packed with 48 amazing full length songs featuring Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX

Covering a wide spectrum of music genres, like pop rock song Terekakushi Shishunki by Honeyworks, chiptune *Hello, Planet by sasakure.UK, lounge duet on the rocks by OSTER project and dance anthem AgeAge Again by Mitchie M, Project Mirai DX has tunes anyone can get down with.

In the earlier Japanese only versions, some of the songs utilized the official music video as the background animation. For Project Mirai DX, every song is now recreated in the Project Mirai style, all in gorgeous 3D featuring everyone’s cute Nendoroid look. New to the Miku rhythm game scene, GUMI also joins the cast as a guest star on a handful of tracks, such as Matroshyka by Hachi and Invisible by kemu.

With Project Mirai DX, there are more ways to play! Each song has two play modes, Tap and Button, each with 3 modes of difficulty.

Tap Mode involves tapping on-screen color panels in time with the on-screen prompts. Starting from Easy’s 1 color panel, increasing your difficulty will add additional color panels and ratchet up the note pattern complexity. In addition to matching the correct colors, swipe icons will appear requiring you to swipe in the direction indicated. Button mode involves pressing A/B/X/Y buttons and the +Control Pad in time with the on-screen prompts. Easy patterns utilize less buttons and show fewer prompts, whereas Hard uses all buttons, dual A/B/X/Y and +Control Pad usage, and increased complexity in button patterns and rhythms.
For both Tap and Button mode, you can also customize a wealth of different play options.

Spend your Play Coins to use various helper items that can make your game easier or harder. Change up the look and feel by adjusting timing indicators, icons sizes, rhythm sounds, or even HUD clutter. You can even swap the order of your panels in Tap mode, or change your prompt icons image and color for Button Mode. Whether you’re a button tapping novice or rhythm game veteran, Project Mirai DX has you covered.
As a special feature in Project Mirai DX, some songs allow you to change which character you would like to be featured. When you change your character, their voices will change as well!

Back in April, Gio Corsi @ PlayStation visited the SEGA office in Tokyo to interview two of the developers behind the legendary Yakuza series, General Director Toshihiro Nagoshi and Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama.

In this first of three interview videos, Gio goes deep into the details of Yakuza 5 and also gets answers to some of the questions fans sent to #Yakuza5PS.

Since the game announcement at PlayStation Experience, we’ve been working very hard to ensure that this massive game, including all the DLC packs is localized for the western market.  We are grateful for all the support we’ve received from our fans so far and can’t wait to share more details with you.

Announcing Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice!

Hey there Sonic fans!

We’ve just announced our newest Sonic title – Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice! The game will be releasing for Nintendo 3DS this Holiday. Before we get into the fun stuff, check out the trailer, below!

YouTube Preview Image

Now that you’ve seen it in action, here’s more info and some screenshots, which I’ve pulled out from today’s Press Release:

Developed by Sanzaru Games Inc., Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a single player game with collaborative gameplay components that shares key characters, events, and lore of the Sonic Boom universe. Players will see Sonic and his friends in familiar settings as they embark on a brand new adventure to battle Dr. Eggman as well as an all-new super villain, D-Fekt. The team’s adventures will bring them to locations both familiar and new as they explore, race and protect their world.

To create an entirely new experience, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will infuse fire and ice elements throughout gameplay, enabling new abilities to play out in special character moves and interactions with environments. The new title also delivers gameplay that enables players to run through the game at top speed, or take their time with deeper exploration and puzzle play.

New to the title is the introduction of Bot Racing, a supplemental game tied to the single player story with multiplayer gameplay. The new Bot Racing feature is an extension of Sonic Boom: Fire &; Ice that is purely about racing and speed, where a user will unlock character themed Bots to challenge friends on fast courses or tracks.

This summer, we’ll also be releasing a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog information app, called Sonic Central, for both iOS and Android devices! This one-stop-shop for all things Sonic will have exclusive art and wallpapers, character information, clips from the animated series, concept art, and info on the latest games. Sonic Pix, a unique function within the app, will let you get creative by including Sonic and friends in photos you take with your phone!

We’ll talk more about Sonic Central soon, but just know that we’ve tried to put a bit of everything in there for you guys – including some Classic Sonic art for the oldschool among you. This app has been my life for the last few weeks, and we’re excited to show it to you once it’s finished.

So, lots of big news today! We’ve got Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice releasing this Holiday on 3DS, we’ve got Sonic Central coming out this summer as a free download for your mobile phones, and Sonic Boom continues to rock the TV ratings as it releases across the world. If you haven’t been watching the TV show, I highly recommend it!

Questions and comments? You know you have them. Hit us up in the comments below, and I’ll respond to any that I can. Thanks everyone, and a very happy Tuesday to you all!

Kellie’s Last Day at SEGA

My name is Kellie. You may not know my face or my name, but I’ve been the social media admin for Sonic the Hedgehog for nearly 7 years.

me sonic selfie

In 2008, I joined SEGA with only a little knowledge of the game industry or Sonic, and today I walk out with a ton of professional and life experiences that I will be forever grateful for.

sega id badge

(They made me a new one with the correct spelling of my name, but I kept this one because the error is hilarious!)

It sounds cheesy, but SEGA was not just another job for me. My co-workers weren’t just that, and many weren’t just my friends — this has been my family.

annie marj kellie 2010

We spent all day working together, eating lunch together, and often hanging out together in the evenings or on the weekends. We traveled around the world together for conventions and business meetings. We laughed hard, and we worked harder.

aaron desk

Like the time that we turned Aaron’s desk into Green Hill Zone when he went on vacation.

jun japan

From London, Paris, Tokyo, Mexico City, to all over the US, I have had an opportunity to see the world and meet some of Sonic’s biggest celebrities. I have fond memories of meeting Yuji Naka backstage at Sonic Boom 2011, of working closely with Takashi Iizuka, and Jun Senoue showing me around Joypolis in Tokyo before having some ramen.

sonic speed

I also once got a speeding ticket while on a SEGA road trip to see venues for the 2013 Sonic Boom event. Sonic’s gotta go fast, but apparently I went TOO fast.

sega by fabian

It has been my honor to “be” Sonic the Hedgehog on social media, and to serve Sonic fans around the world. Although I will no longer be at SEGA, I leave you in capable, and perhaps familiar hands. Aaron Webber, known to many Sonic fans as RubyEclipse (and the same Aaron whose desk we made into Green Hill Zone) will be taking over social media and community relations for Sonic.

Farewell and best wishes!
