Announcing Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice!Hey there Sonic fans! We’ve just announced our newest Sonic title – Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice! The game will be releasing for Nintendo 3DS this Holiday. Before we get into the fun stuff, check out the trailer, below!
Now that you’ve seen it in action, here’s more info and some screenshots, which I’ve pulled out from today’s Press Release:
This summer, we’ll also be releasing a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog information app, called Sonic Central, for both iOS and Android devices! This one-stop-shop for all things Sonic will have exclusive art and wallpapers, character information, clips from the animated series, concept art, and info on the latest games. Sonic Pix, a unique function within the app, will let you get creative by including Sonic and friends in photos you take with your phone! We’ll talk more about Sonic Central soon, but just know that we’ve tried to put a bit of everything in there for you guys – including some Classic Sonic art for the oldschool among you. This app has been my life for the last few weeks, and we’re excited to show it to you once it’s finished. So, lots of big news today! We’ve got Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice releasing this Holiday on 3DS, we’ve got Sonic Central coming out this summer as a free download for your mobile phones, and Sonic Boom continues to rock the TV ratings as it releases across the world. If you haven’t been watching the TV show, I highly recommend it! Questions and comments? You know you have them. Hit us up in the comments below, and I’ll respond to any that I can. Thanks everyone, and a very happy Tuesday to you all!

Thank you Sega! I was worried there wasn’t going to be another Sonic Boom game due to the bad reception it got, but I’m glad to see I’m wrong.
Personally I like both Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal for what they were, and I’m pretty happy to see Fire and Ice take the style of Shattered Crystal (obviously Sanzaru). Thank you, you made this Sonic fan’s day!

What about Windows / Windows Phone, no Sonic Central app there? Disappointed.
And what about the Wii U? No 3D version of Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice?

Gusovi – Nobody expects the Sonic Inquisition!
From the comments I’ve seen a few other places, I think it’s also worth mentioning that the team at Sanzaru are really focused on improving key areas based on feedback from press and fans last year. We’re excited to not only share that with you guys, but to let you play it and see for yourself soon!

I certainly hope they improve it. The demo I played was so boring and tedious.

Will the levels again be this absurdely long? Sonic Boom on 3DS (not Wii U) was quite fun, but the extreme length of the levels just does not mesh well with Sonic-speed. At all. I really hope you have broken the main levels down to more individual, but shorter levels.

Will there still be Rival Races like in Crystal?

Right, because the first one worked so well. There’s a reason I still haven’t purchased either of the Boom games out currently. And in the kind if fan who buys Sonic games day one without question. I hope they worked harder to make the game actually fun to play instead of slow and repetitive.

Thank goodness Sonic is still continuing! I just hope it doesn’t turn into a disaster like Rise of Lyric.

Personally, I’m glad to see a new Sonic Boom. At least, a 3DS version. I didn’t enjoy Rise of Lyric much, though it’s not a bad game as such.
My main worry for Fire & Ice is the music. I really hope they improve it this time around. The music in Shattered Crystal just didn’t do the game justice.
So, very impressive to see SEGA and Sanzaru continuing with this, considering the downfall of the original 2 games. However, I look forward to seeing the result!

Brent – we hope that you’ll get a chance to try it for yourself soon! Sanzaru is working really hard to improve a ton of items based on fan and review feedback.
Sonny – I don’t have any news on Sonic Runners for you, sorry!
Yuki – I can promise you it will be very, very different from Rise of Lyric. (Which was developed by an entirely different studio.) This game is being developed by Sanzaru Games, so think Shattered Crystal + big improvements = Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice.
Landman – hey now! Don’t dock it ’till you try it.
T.C. – Lots of big improvements, especially when it comes to level size! Things are much more streamlined this time around.

If the fire and ice segments just require memorization to speed through the levels, then I’m cool with that. But if I’m spending 4 minutes solving puzzles with Amy Rose to finish levels then… no thanks.

I only really want to know when we’ll see more from the original timeline (Sonic the Hedgehog through Sonic Lost World) since Sega said they aren’t abandoning that side of the series.
For that matter, I wonder if any future Sonic games will take advantage of the Sonic amiibo that released for Super Smash Bros.

I’m glad to hear Sanzaru are getting a chance to somewhat redeem the Sonic Boom video game experience with Fire & Ice. I didn’t feel to pick up the first game due to some of the reviews but I’ll look into this game with much anticipation that it’s an improved game

I’m sorry Ruby, but I feel this is just Sonic Boom merchandise! if I only played Sonic games I would give it a chance, but a spinoff based on a cartoon doesn’t even feel like collection worth… just giving my harsh opinion as a 30+ yo sonic fan.

Continuing with the Sonic Boom franchise? It’s the second time western Sega surprises me this year (the first being Tembo). It’s good you’re giving Sanzaru a second chance. It would also be very interesting to have a follow-up to Rise of Lyric for Wii U. I though Sega would give up on the vídeo gaming side of things, like any other mediocre publisher would do, but instead it choose the harder and more noble way. Thumbs up!

I’m happy to see racing be a part of this game, that would add a lot of extra replayability to the game and I can see myself getting addicted to that one aspect of the game alone. Also will there be racing stages specific for the characters? I’d love to play in a stage entirely built around Tails’ gameplay style, or Knuckles’

Okay i’m afraid to be honest. After the negative points of the first two games, i hope this Fire & Ice will be awesome. But i still have no reply for my questions.. when Sonic Runners will be available in other countries? when will you return to the home consoles (XBOX 360, Ps3, Xbox one and PS4) ? Thanks.

YES! This is exactly what I want on the 3DS! Shattered Crystal was unfairly judged because of the quality of the Wii U game, in my opinion. I liked the first Sonic Boom game for 3DS and this entry looks like it will build upon what worked.
Thumbs up, SEGA!

Good luck, SEGA. Hopefully you’ve learned from your past mistakes and will make this game something the fans will be proud of. Also, when are you going to start working on the main series again?? I have some ideas, if you need them.
