Announcing Theatre of War mode for Company of Heroes 2!

CoH2-ToW-Screen5

Today we are proud to announce that Company of Heroes 2 will ship with an all-new mode called Theater of War on top of its gripping cinematic campaign and intense competitive multiplayer modes!

Theater of War allows us to tell different stories from The Eastern Front in the form of new playable single player and co-operative content. The mode includes solo challenges where players are pitted against overwhelming odds, AI battles against an enemy commander with a unique play style and co-operative scenarios for fans to enjoy with your friends.

At the launch of COH2, the Theater of War mode will include missions from key battles in 1941. Choosing either the Soviet Red Army or the Germans, players will visit different locations across the Eastern Front and take part in some of the most famous battles that occurred that year. Each faction has 9 unique missions included. More Theater of War missions will be added to the game at a later date, including the previously announced mini-pack for all eligible pre-order customers.

Greg Wilson, Producer of Company of Heroes 2, commented, “We get a lot of requests from fans to showcase specific conflicts from the war and it isn’t always possible to fit these into the campaign. Theater of War gives us the opportunity to deliver these new gameplay experiences to our fans.”

Quinn Duffy, Game Director commented, “Theater of War acts as a perfect bridge between the game’s single and multiplayer content providing a high level of re-playability and helping to introduce traditionally solo players to the online elements of the game.”

Be sure to let us know what you think about Theatre of War! Are you excited to play out the events of the Eastern Front with your friends in co-op?

Company of Heroes 2 given official release date!

Company of Heroes 2 - Katyusha

We are proud to announce that Company of Heroes 2, the eagerly anticipated strategy game from newly acquired Relic Entertainment, is scheduled for release on June 25th, 2013 in North America and Europe!

Originally slated for release in early 2013, Relic is using the additional time to help Company of Heroes 2 meet the high standard set by its predecessor, the highest rated strategy game of all time. Underpinned by the cutting-edge Essence 3.0 Engine, Company of Heroes 2 brings tactical strategy to life like never before, thanks to the realistic ColdTech weather system, the revolutionary dynamic line of sight system, TrueSight and realistic destructibility.

Jonathan Dowdeswell, Executive Producer of Company of Heroes 2, had this to say in regards to the new ship date. “Our acquisition by SEGA has given us the chance to work with a new partner that has a great track record of working with long standing PC franchises. It gives us great confidence to know that we have a well aligned team working to bring the best experience we can to gamers around the world.”

“We hate to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play but we feel that the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel they deserve,” said Greg Wilson, Producer of Company of Heroes 2. “However, the wait won’t be long as players will soon be able to help us test and balance multiplayer in the upcoming Closed Beta. Details will follow shortly.”

Letter from the Producer: SEGA and Relic!

Company of Heroes 2

Dear CoH Community,

Welcome to the latest Company of Heroes 2 “Letter from the Producer!” As you know, a lot has happened since we last spoke. The bankruptcy of THQ has brought big changes to a family we were part of for almost 10 years and we wish all the best for the future to all of our former colleagues!

Looking to our own future, I must admit that the studio as a whole is incredibly stoked to be working alongside a publisher with a heritage as strong as SEGA’s. Shortly after the acquisition was announced, work on integrating the entire Relic team began. It’s been a rapid transition period and I’m happy to say we’re a pretty much fully functioning member of the SEGA family now and remain fully focused on shipping the highest quality version of Company of Heroes 2 you have all been waiting for.

Right now we’re working towards bringing you the closed beta build which we’ll be able to talk more to you about soon. You can find out how to get involved when the time comes on our Facebook and Twitter pages, so be sure to like and follow us there for the latest details.

Hope this answers a few questions. I’ll keep a look out for more hot topics, so keep up the discussions and hope to see you online soon! Please rest assured that as we get out of this transition phase we will be much more communicative regarding our status and upcoming plans. 2013 will be a great year for us!

Cheers,

Greg Wilson
Producer – Company of Heroes 2
