Conduit 2 – HVS talks the Story and Game Intro

Conduit 2 Black Logo

Hi everyone! This is Eric Stoll, Lead Designer on Conduit 2 and I’m happy to have been given the opportunity to write this blog detailing the opening cinematic of Conduit 2 that was released recently. I’ve been with High Voltage Software for almost eight years and let me tell you, Conduit 2 is far and away the biggest production we’ve ever undertaken and it’s been an absolute blast to work on!

The Story So Far…

Conduit 2 is the sequel to 2009’s The Conduit, continuing the story of Michael Ford, a Secret Agent who saved the President’s life when the rest of the security detail that he was a part of went rogue.

Michael was then lured into joining “The Trust”, a secret government organization run by John Adams, whose hunger for power ultimately pushed Michael away. Michael was then contacted by a conspirator identified as Prometheus. Together, the two unraveled a massive conspiracy of galactic proportions. John Adams was an alien and he had been developing alien-human hybrid soldiers, known as the Drudge, in order to take over the world, starting with Washington D.C.

After the invasion started, Prometheus sacrificed himself and placed his essence into the All Seeing Eye (ASE), a mysterious alien device with strange powers. Michael eventually found John Adams in a bunker located below the city but Adams was ready and had a trap waiting for him. As a momentous battle raged between Michael and the Drudge soldiers, Adams escaped through a conduit.

Standing in Adams’ bunker as the invasion of Washington D.C. rages above him, starring at the strange conduit in front of him, Michael had only one choice. Follow the bastard and finish this once and for all.

This is where Conduit 2’s opening cinematic begins…

So What’s New?

With this cinema, we hope to draw an emotional response from the player, invoking a sense of awe and wonder as they look forward to the game by demonstrating interesting locations and foreshadowing gameplay and potential bosses.

In The Conduit, Michael Ford’s story took place mostly in Washington D.C. For Conduit 2, we’ve expanded the scope of the game dramatically, adding locations all across the globe. In the intro cinematic, as Ford stands in the ruins of Adams’ D.C. bunker, Ford steps through the conduit and you can immediately see what Ford sees travelling through the “worm hole”.

Conduit 2 Intro

We immediately cut to underwater shots of a strange alien craft, submerged at the bottom of the ocean. As it begins to power up, we hear a female voice foreshadowing events to come. This woman can be found inside the crashed ship, but what her role is in what’s to come has yet to be revealed… She goes on to say that Ford has “doomed us all”. That statement hints at one of the epic moments that players will enjoy as they progress through the game.

Also under water you see the protector of the crashed ship, a colossal sea serpent, known as the Leviathan. He’s a 100-foot tall monster with devastating firepower that’s been drawn to the oil rig for some reason. A reason that Ford will soon discover…

Conduit 2 Intro

As the cinema winds to a close, you see a conduit on the oil rig activate with a brilliant flash of light and a cut to the game’s title. This leads directly into gameplay with an unarmed, disoriented Ford waking up on a rain-soaked deck in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!

We hope you enjoyed this blog!  Be sure to head on over to Gamestop and pre-order Conduit 2 today and also head on over to our forums to discuss it with fellow fans!

Conduit 2 Preview Roundup!

Conduit 2

Conduit 2 is making the rounds across the internet and definitely raising some eyebrows in the process. After recent showings at press events and tours, the upcoming sequel to the High Voltage Software Wii release is showing how much bigger and better it is going to be for fans everywhere. Read on for a taste and click in for the full details, including some new reveals!

Dual Shockers had a chance to sit down with Eric Nofsinger, see the full interview here:

YouTube Preview Image has a new favorite gun in Conduit 2 and some impressions on what to expect graphically:

And the scenery is shockingly good. The nation’s capital, currently a torn-down warzone occupied by vicious alien Drudge and traitorous Trust soldiers, sports graphics rivaling some games on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The opening cutscene is easily one of the more impressive visuals I’ve ever seen on the Wii.

In a post about a recent screenshot release, the Official Nintendo Magazine also had some kind words regarding the look of Conduit 2:

…judging by these great new screenshots, it looks like it could definitely be one of the best looking Wii shooters around.

Gamespot noted some of the upcoming environmental and weapon changes in the upcoming sequel:

Some changes to the core gameplay have been added as well, including the ability to flip objects over for impromptu cover and alternate fire options for most of the guns. Some of these that we saw looked pretty cool…

EGM was really impressed with the recent showing of Conduit 2:

…Conduit 2 still surpasses its predecessor in just about every way imaginable – a feat that shouldn’t be discounted just because it’s easy to stand tall among the console’s countless party-game bundles.

Destructoid’s look at the game reveals a ton of new information about the game, including …

The game has so many additions and improvements, it’s hard to even know where to begin. Just looking at my notes on is overwhelming. First off, High Voltage actually rewrote the way that the Wii outputs sound in order to make the Conduit 2 sound better than any other Wii title. has a lengthy article with a ton of new information, such as …

The developers showed off a gun that makes the wielder invisible, and they also told us about a shield gun, a gun that can shoot through walls, and a sticky-target gun. High Voltage is definitely going all-out with the weapons, trying to make each one have a different feel and making them all fun to use.

We’re really excited to see such great feedback on what we think is going to be an epic outing on the Wii. Conduit 2 ships this February, be on the look out for more news and information!
