Little Wing License update coming to PSP:2Good news for Phantasy Star fans – starting soon, the online servers for PSP:2 will be updating to help us keep the game more cheat-free and ensure that only players who actually bought the game are granted access to the free servers. Amidst the sound of weeping pirates everywhere, here’s all the info you’ll need to make sure you can get back online smoothly once the update hits!
As with any patch or update that affects connectivity, we’re sure there may be some people who have trouble getting online – so if that’s you, please also feel free to contact us at http://help.sega.com for customer service if you’re having any trouble with your code. For those playing on used copies, there is currently no additional method to purchase a code individually, though we did try to explore this possibility as much as we could for you guys. We know this was covered off back at launch, but just wanted to mention it once more as the question has come up before. Thanks to everyone for their patience as we worked to get these codes up and running as intended – as we hear more news from the dev team, including the final date that this will go live in the US, we’ll post a new blog here. Until then, please feel free to post here or to help.sega.com with any questions or concerns!

The SEGA Community Event starts tonight!Hey everyone! We hope you’re all excited for tonight’s big event! From Valkyria Chronicles to Phantasy Star to Sonic 4, we’ve got cool things in store – including food (and chocolate)!
Finding SEGAThere are two entrances to SEGA: one on Kansas street and one on Rhode Island street. For this event, please make sure to use the Kansas entrance, as it’s the one we’ve secured for the evening so that the doors don’t lock you or your family out, etc. Once you come in from the Kansas side, you’ll see a number of Rappies guiding your way. They’ll lead you to the doors, then to the elevators, and from there you’ll want to head up to the Fourth floor. We’ll be there ready to check people in starting at 5:00 PM! What kind of food will there be?We’ve ordered some very yummy sandwiches and some even more yummy dessert to feed you guys with. We’ve also picked up a fairly wide variety of soda (super healthy!), so whether you’re a Coke, Pepsi, or even a Mountain Dew person, your drink of choice will be there! Is there parking nearby? The best spots to park will be in the blocks nearby – De Haro and Carolina, which are only a couple blocks away, may also have parking. If you go up the hill a little on either Rhode Island or Kansas streets, you may also find some parking spots to use! What kind of prizes are you giving away? That’s a secret! You’ll have to wait and see what we’ve got in store. We’re looking forward to seeing all of you guys tonight – and sorry that we couldn’t fit in everyone who wanted to come! The high demand for this event is a great sign for the future, though – if you guys want more, we’ll make them happen. See you tonight!

Join us in San Francisco for SEGA’s next Community Event!Hey everyone! Even if you can’t make our Sonic Colors event in New York next week, we’ve got something on the west coast coming up right after! Some of you may remember that last year, right around this time, we held SEGA’s first ever Community Event here inside SEGA of America HQ in San Francisco. It was all about Phantasy Star Zero then, and this year we’re making the event even bigger – and featuring Valkyria Chronicles II, Phantasy Star Portable II, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 as our big games of the night! You could go home with rare merchandise from last year or even vintage merch from the Dreamcast era and before! Whoever travels the furthest distance to arrive will also score a special prize. Oh, and know your SEGA trivia, too – because we might give out some extra goods to anyone who can correctly answer some quickfire questions! Once all is said and done, we’ll have our closing, bid everyone a good night, and let you all loose on San Francisco for the weekend. Directions to SEGAIf you live in or near San Francisco, you may have been by our offices before, or seen the big blue SEGA logo as you were driving down the highway. The SEGA cosplay of New York Comic-conJust a little over a week ago, New York Comic-con’s convention hall was packed to the brim with people from all the major sects of geek and nerd fandom. Anime fans intermingled with video game fans, all of whom also mixed in with comic and TV series fans – and, in many cases, people were actually a part of all three groups. At the SEGA booth, we were showing off a number of games, from Captain America to Sonic Colors – and similar to the last year at NYCC, we had a number of SEGA fans show up cosplaying our characters to show their love for the games! Here are some of our favorites from the show! The SEGA Cosplay of NYCC 2010
Word of this couple came in before they even arrived at the booth – mostly because of the costumes, as you can probably guess. Certainly some of the more unique Sonic costumes we’ve ever seen. Nicely done guys!
Phantasy Star Portable II Cosplay! The game has only just released here, but already some hardcore fans were on the floor with both costumes and weapons to boot! (Bonus points if you know the name of both weapons.)
This fan from our forums came by with a custom, homemade Sonic the Hedgehog + Metal Sonic Skateboard! It may not be cosplay, but this level of awesome is definitely worthy of a spotlight here on the blogs.
NiGHTS Cosplay! Reala came by the booth and we got this picture, complete with ominous and dark lighting on the face for that added sinister touch. Werehog spotted! (Quick, everyone – to the Sonic Colors station!)
This one is just epic. The guys who came last year as 5-6 Sonic Characters returned, and this time they brought friends. A lot of friends. Picture here: Sonic (x3), Mario, Rouge, Charmy, Shadow, Tails, Cream, Amy, Silver, Tikal, E-102 Gamma, and Samba! (And Misty, too!) For a full list of pictures, including some delicious cheesecake (and it’s no lie), check out our Flickr album here! The Convention was a great success for SEGA, with lines packed constantly for games like Sonic Colors and Vanquish, and huge crowds for Captain America and Thor. Even Phantasy Star Portable II, which had already released, got a lot of love on the show floor! To all those who cosplayed this year and came by our booth – thanks for spreading the SEGA love! Great work to all of you, and we hope to see you again next year! Which of the cosplayers is your favorite?

Pick up the Furious Marshmallow saber in PSP2 with this code!Alright, so I might have just been looking for a good excuse to put up a picture of the stay puft marshmallow man here on the SEGA Blogs. But now I finally can – and it’s topical, no less! Today we’ve teamed up with gaming website 2d-x.com to bring you a new unlockable code for a special saber in Phantasy Star Portable II! It’s called the ‘Furious Marshmallow’, and it’s a fun special item you can use for those days when you’re craving a s’more – or simply want to bash in some booma heads. “I tried to think of the most harmless thing. Something I loved from my childhood. Something that could never ever possibly destroy us!” You can find the code on their website here! In other PSP:2 news, please note that in the near future there may be an update to the online servers that will require you to re-download your Little Wing License. Worry not though, it’s for a very good reason – we’ve got more news on this here on the official boards. Enjoy guys!
