Keith Burden - SEGA Rally Cars - Icelandic Racer

Keith Burden - SEGA Rally Cars - Icelandic Racer

Have you ever seen extreme Icelandic Racing?  No, well if you have you will definitely have seen trucks like our Icelandic Racer.  Iceland have held extreme off road racing on loose sand circuits for nearly 20 years.

Many of the competitors race bespoke handmade custom trucks like this one, they are usually 4 wheel drive, very light weight, exceptionally agile, have large capacity big bhp engines, and many of the photos I sourced for reference showed most of them upside down or rolling down impossible slopes.

The balloon-like low pressure tyres are designed to hook into loose
surfaces with the large shovel-like shapes on the tyre tread.  It has
also been known that at high speeds these trucks can skim over the
surface of water!

Like the previously mentioned Andorra Racer this vehicle has been designed in-house specifically for SEGA Rally.  The paint scheme was heavily based on the Mongoose logo you can see in the livery, the orange and purple looks vivid enough to compliment the extreme look of the vehicle but at the same time it ties in nicely with the sponsor logos.

Want some more? New to the official website there are now over 100 SEGA Rally screenshots, plus the sassy environmental sizzle videos. Check them out now at www.segarally.com

Leipzig Games Convention Special

Leipzig Games Convention Special

The Leipzig Games Convention in Germany has become Europe’s leading showcase of all that’s ace in the world of videogames. So naturally SEGA was there between 23rd and 26th August with all its very best stuff. So here is a comprehensive roundup of all the new media we released during the event.

Leading the charge for SEGA in the public area of the show was Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.

The landmark partnership of Mario and Sonic in a game together for the first time isn’t the only reason it attracted the crowds. The quality of the game was something to see, too - so much so, in fact, that it was officially voted the best Wii game at the show!

Oh, we took a load of pictures as well - check them out here.

MARIO & SONIC AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES

EMPIRE: TOTAL WAR
The announcement of Empire: Total War at Leipzig made for some of the show’s most excited headlines. It’s not surprising really; set between the years 1700 and 1800, Empire will introduce devastating naval combat to the series for the first time. Add to that vastly enhanced campaign and 3D battle engines, as well as lots of gunpowder, and there’s a lot for fans to talk about over the next few months.

VIKING: BATTLE FOR ASGARD
From the renowned creators of the Total War series comes an all-action slaughter-fest on a truly mythic scale. The Creative Assembly is famous for the vast scope of its combat gameplay, and Viking on Xbox 360 and PS3 will be no different. Steeped in the bloodlust and mysticism of ancient Norse mythology, this one promises big free-roaming environments, big swords, big battles, and very big fun.

SEGA RALLY
A select group of Leipzig attendees were treated to SEGA Rally at its very best - sat in a racing seat, steering wheel in hand, pedals at their feet and with luscious HD visuals parked right in front of their faces. One of the races they would have enjoyed was across the newly revealed Canyon setting.
