This is my first official blog post as a member of the SEGA Community
team, so hello all! I’m really excited to be working for one of the
best gaming companies on the planet. As I’ve been playing their games
for over 20 years, I thought it only right that they should give me a
job. We’ve got some great titles coming out in the next few months, and
I will be giving you the inside info on some of these and much
more.
Anyway, on with the
news.
Not sure if you saw the news
story, but Sumo Digital are currently hard at work
on a new
game for us; SEGA Superstars
Tennis. Due for release in early 2008, SEGA Superstars Tennis is
one of those fun, pick-up-and play games where traditional tennis rules
are thrown out in favour of all-out fun and frolics on the
court.
Currently,
info is a little thin on the ground (a bit like my hair), but what we
do know is:
- More than 15 playable
characters from SEGA’s army of gaming idols including Sonic, AiAi,
Ulala, and Amigo.
- Each character will have a unique
ability.
- Exhibition and Tournament
modes.
- Different courts in some very familiar
locations such as Green Hill Zone and Carnival
Park.
- It’s coming out on loads of formats: PS3,
Xbox 360, PS2, Wii and DS.
- You can play your online
buddies with the PS3 and Xbox 360
versions.
- There’ll be loads of unlockable
extras.
We’ll bring you more info on
how the game is coming along soon. I’ll see if I can sneak into
Fortress SEGA and nab some exclusive pics and videos for the
blog.
In the
meantime, what SEGA character would you like to see make an appearance?

Hi, guys, thanks for making a game with so much potential such as this.
As far as character requests go, I would like to see at least one of the following make an appareance on this game:
-Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue;
-Jack Wade from Headhunter;
-Candy from Fighting Vipers;
-Vanessa Lewis and Akira from Virtua Fighter;
-Show Amabone from Burning Rangers;
-Ethan Wabber from Phantasy Star Universe;
-Rouge the Bat from the Sonic games;
-Vyse from Skies of Arcadia;
-Beat from Jet Set Radio;
-Joe Musashi from Shinobi;
-Alex Kidd from the Alex Kidd series;

I would like to see these Sega characters:
Nights
Azel, Orta or some Panzer Dragoon character
Some Virtua Fighter character
A zombie from House of the Dead
Shou Amabane or Tillis from Burning Rangers
Bug!

So many, like Alex Kidd, Ristar, the Bonanza Bros, Dynamite Dux, Astal, Clockwork Knignt (is one of my favourites), Bug, Kapu Kapu (From ChuChu Rocket!), Arle (from Puyo Puyo), a Virtua Fighter Kid, the caracter from Cosmic Smash…

This looks great. The musical cheetahs on the Samba court are very funny! My favourite character Amigo is already announced for the game ;D

Personally, I would like to see at least one of the following characters to by playable:
-Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue;
-Vyse from Skies of Arcadia;
-Beat from Jet Set Radio;
-Rouge the Bat from the Sonic games;
-Ethan Wabber from Phantasy Star Universe;
-Alex Kidd from the Alex Kidd games;
-Janet from Virtua Cop;
-Candy from Fighting Vipers;
-Sei from Virtua Quest;
-Pai from the Virtua Fighter games;
Sorry for the long list, but there’s such a long list of beloved Sega characters, it’s hard not to name them all.

I prefer to see some Sega Heroes of the past, as Alex Kidd and Wonder Boy.
Please Sumo give us a Big Sega Game with Big Sega Heroes, not only new Hero!

The idea of this game is pretty cool and I loved it, but the developer behind the game makes me feel like it will suck “Sumo Digital” !
And it would be better if the game was exclusive to one system NOT 5 SYSTEMS !!
I would like to see these characters make an appearance in the game: “I HOPE”

I think the game looks cool, and also, I’m a fan of tennis games so I it’s okay.
I would love to see some classic sonic characters like Tails, Knuckles, Eggman and, of course, SONIC, and some Jet Set Radio guys. But I also love the idea of a Sonic vs Sega characters battle, so I’ll see and wait…
P.S. Isn’t the guy who wrote one of the comment above me YUJI NAKA?!

Ok here goes again, I like this idea and I hope that the ‘SEGA SuperStars’ becomes a franchise with games in other genres.. NOT JUST SPORT, for sport I’d like to see ‘SEGA SUPERSTARS EXTREME SPORTS’ but most of all I’d like to see a Platform or RTS game with a story.. Some kind of story that ties all of the Sega Characters.. It would have to be very tounge in cheek and a comedy.. but NOT childish and crap.. comedy.. as in funny.
Anyway, I really hope this is ‘SEGA’ and not just Sonic Team super star tennis..

I’ll just say it right now.. The more the better guys, the more the better FAN SERVICE PLEASE!

Hi guys,
I popped over to SEGA HQ yesterday and had a sneeky peek at Superstars Tennis - it is looking really good. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to reveal anything at the moment (boo-hoo). I wish I could, but I can’t. However, I am working on getting some exclusive bits ‘n’ bobs for the blog. So stay tuned.

I’m a bit late, but I’d LOVE to see Billy Hatcher there, too. Most other people suggested the other characters I’d like to see, so I won’t bother repeating myself, haha. I’ll certainly be looking forward to this though–it looks like it’s got LOADS of potential!

Billy Hatcher? I think this game should highlight Segas awesome Heroes and it’s great games.. Billy Hatcher is the worst thing to happen to Sega since the Shadow the Hedgehog game or that Virtua Fighter Action RPG blasphamy for the GameCube..

This is really a big occasion to make a great game with characters from the past, and not only the modern characters or only the one that appeared on the previous Sega Superstars.
I’d like to see these as playable characters
