Digital Downloads & The All New SEGA WebsiteAs many of you have seen, the SEGA website has changed an AWFUL lot, this is the result of months of work from our European online team. The design is for what is termed “SEGA West” i.e. Europe and America, we’ll be working much much closer in the future. Borrowing cups of sugar and inviting them around for Sunday BBQs etc, admittedly that might be difficult with them in San Francisco. But I digress, the new website is still under a bit of development - we’re taking note of your feedback and a couple of little niggles that have come up - but it is miles better than the old one both graphically as well as the back end of the site. We’ll be working through the older games when we’ve got a sec, so if you can’t find Jet Set Radio Future or similar have patience and enjoy the dynamic new look. One of the things you’ll notice is us getting very big on the concept of Digital Downloads, for example we’ve got ones coming up for release with Iron Man as well as a download only game in Happy Tree Friends. Keep an eye out for more details regarding this medium in future blogs, etc as we’re all very excited about the possibilities here. As such if you are interested in our other current games available here they are - Iron Man - Click Here

Loving the new look of the website, it is a lot brighter. Aesthetically pleasing if i may say so.

Congratulations for the new website. It has a very clean look and the idea of saving a place for themed backgrounds is also good and pretty (as more and more websites do the same, specially for advertisement).
I also thank you that you’ve passed from Flash to HTML. As web programmer/designer, I believe that, except for pure graphic sites (such as those dedicated to movies only), Flash files should be limited to embeded elements into HTML. Not only because of indexing purposes, but also to fulfill the W3C standars and decrease the download speed. Apart of that, working with much data in HTML is easier, because the content push the rest of content downwards and it’s not necessary to worry about coordinates and dimensions.
I also believe that the designers of the past version of the SEGA of Europe website deserve all our applauses. They not only made a good and pretty design but were able to keep a dynamic and massive website in pure Flash. All that connected to a DB! That’s a very very hard work really. I was into that, and can swear that’s a pain in the @#$. So congratulations to all them too.
I also would like to show my surprise and admiration for the new and bigger role which the SEGA Europe departments have got nowdays, specially yours, the online team. In the whole history of SEGA, and in spite of the good work done in Europe, the local team never got any recognition. Even in the Dreamarena age, with Luc Houselander, Bennie Booysen, Egodreams, ICL and others doing such a huge and great job (one of the best for an online community, in my opinion), SEGA gave them the deserved merits. Congratulations for that too.
Finally, I hope that the new concept of SEGA West get success and we see many good things come from that. Specially to empower the community of SEGA loyal fans.
Best regards.

Ops, when I said “download speed” I meant “download time”.
I also take the time to suggest something. When the site is running fine and you’ve not so much work to do… Why don’t you make, European and American teams, a little special review about the past websites? I bet that many SEGA fans would love that.

Isn’t there a link to the boards anymore? Or do we have to register for a SEGA Pass?

The Boards link is there if you are in the American version of the site - it doesn’t appear on the SOE versions because its not something we are actually associated with (at this time).

The website looks gret and is finally workng for me! Can’t WAIT to see Shenmue content on the site! And don’t forget JSR, Panzer Dragoon, and the other classics!

First of all, wicked new website! I’m really liking it.
Secondly, I’d like to make a few suggestions.
The first one is a Sega History section with a breif over veiw of the early years each console, and the move from hardware to publisher.
The second one adding the most popular of the older Sega games to the game search, maybe just the ones released on the Virtual Console but if I want to look up Streets of Rage or even Panzer Dragoon Saga I should be able to find it!
Finally, HURRY UP WITH THE FREAKIN FORUM!!!
